KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Identifying new customer prospects by following up on leads
• Contacting new and current customers to discuss their needs and see how the rep can recommend products to meet those needs
• Explaining features of various pharmaceutical products to customers
• Answering questions regarding pricing, availability, and delivery time
• Preparing sales contracts
• Collaborating with work colleagues to discuss selling techniques or issues
• Following up with customers after the sale to ensure they're satisfied and answer questions or concerns.

In addition to education and other requirements, candidates that possess the following skills may be able to perform more successfully in the job:

• Organizational skills: You'll need to develop your organizational skills so that any question you are asked when you are in the field can be answered without having to reply to a request, "Let me make a call and get back to you on that."
• Competitive research: Reps need to stay on top of how the veterinary pharmaceutical industry works, any industry changes, and who the major players are
• Knowledge: Reps must possess an understanding of the relationship between drugs and common animal diseases
• Customer service skills: It's important to serve the customer well before, during, and after the sale.

• Self-confidence: Selling requires a persuasive and confident demeanour

Educational Requirement:

A bachelor's degree in Animal Science or any related field of study.
