    Agronomist


    Details

    • The Agronomist will be responsible for the production of certified class of hybrid and OPV seeds that meet strict genetic and physical quality parameters for domestic and international use.
    • His/ her activities include but are not limited to selecting fields, coaching growers, giving fertility recommendations, field scouting, scheduling harvest, performing production research and analyzing quality on the produced seed.

    Job Description

    • Lead the development, implementation and management of on-farm and demonstration trials
    • Collect and analyse spatial data
    • Maintain Agronomy related databases
    • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Prepare research summaries and presentations to highlight R&D research results.
    • Evaluate and troubleshoot current agronomic system for both our seeds
    • Conduct research through test plots to systematically improve our production system
    • Develop seed and soil fertility programs and monitor the effectiveness of the programs throughout growing season
    • Coordinate with production team on the timing of production cycles
    • Manage quality control for crops during harvest and throughout storage process
    • Annual year end analysis of production cycle
    • Crop inspection and documentation
    • Oversight of grid soil sampling and disease prevention programs
    • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and yearly reports
    • Any other duties that will be assigned

    Qualifications
    The candidate:

    • Must have a B.Sc. or HND in an Agriculture related field
    • At least 2 years working experience
