POSITION SUMMARY:
Co-ordinate planning in line with production programs, ordering, reception, stocking, releasing raw and packing materials for production and timely transfer of finished goods from the Factory to the Company distributors or directly to the customer according to confirmed orders.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sustains interface with Procurement, Sales & Marketing and the Production Departments to ensure uninterrupted flow of materials, supplies and services as required, in line with approved standards
Plans the activities and projects of a Supply Chain department , develops Supply Chain department budgets, obtains, allocates and monitors resources to operational purchasing activities and projects;
Ensures purchasing policies and procedures with respect to operational purchasing are followed.
Co-ordinates the planning, ordering and receipt of Raw / Packaging Materials and dispatch of finished goods from the Factory Warehouse to Company’ distributors and customers.
Responsible for right level of (safety) stocks to ensure uninterrupted production.
Responsible for overseeing the inventory management process, defining departmental strategies for appropriate inventory levels, eliminating obsolete and off-spec material, and reduce aging material
Develops methods and procedures for scheduling of raw and packaging materials from suppliers to support manufacturing in achieving customer demand and minimizing cost impacts to the Company
Ensure that the relevant logistics applications are used appropriately and correctly to generate timely and accurate reports for management information in line with group standard.
Ensure Company is in compliance with laws and regulations regarding transportation and resolve any legal issues pertaining to transportation/distribution of company raw material and finished goods
Liaises with Research & Development and Production Departments for the release of raw/packaging materials as well as finished goods on timely basis
Ensures that the internal transportation facilities are adequate and functional
Recommend approval of purchase orders to the Managing Director after verifying the proper goods or services are ordered with the right quantity and with the right delivery date and place
Perform performance evaluation of Contractors, Suppliers as well as transporters
EDUCATION: Degree in Engineering, Sciences or any other numerate disciplines.
WORK EXPERIENCE: At least 5-7 years post qualification experience (in a manufacturing environment) in Planning, Logistics or Supply Chain related functions
