Operations Executive – Freight Forwarding at Ascentech Services Limited

Job Purpose

• Coordinate import and export shipments by sea, air, and land, ensuring timely delivery, cost efficiency, accurate documentation, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate freight bookings, cargo movement, tracking, and final delivery
• Process shipping documents and coordinate customs clearance
• Liaise with shipping lines, airlines, customs agents, haulage providers, and clients
• Obtain freight quotations and monitor shipment costs
• Arrange cargo collection, transportation, warehousing, and delivery
• Provide shipment updates and resolve operational delays
• Maintain accurate shipment records and prepare operational reports
• Ensure compliance with customs, port, safety, and security requirements

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• On-time shipment delivery rate
• Customs clearance turnaround time
• Shipment cost control against approved budgets
• Documentation accuracy
• Client satisfaction and complaint resolution
• Avoidable demurrage and detention costs
• Compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• BSc/HND in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, or a related field
• 4 - 6 years' relevant freight forwarding or logistics experience
• Knowledge of Nigerian customs procedures, shipping documentation, and port operations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; relevant professional certification is an advantage
