Overview

• The Zone Technical Expert will provide deep technical expertise on packaging equipment and systems which will assist in driving the associated KPI’s and PI’s. Support the routine performance management, ITFs, strategic initiatives and associated capex and cost projects. 

Duties and Responsibilities
Amongst other duties, the Zone Technical Expert will;

• Provide deep technical expertise to support the ZBS Director, ZBS Packaging Manager and ZBS Packaging Co-ordinator with all responsibilities required by the ZBS Handbook
• Participate in development and validation of Global Packaging Engineering specifications and standards - including all safety, quality, and efficiency aspects of the equipment operation
• Increase Packaging lines Maintainability and Reliability through both continuous and breakthrough improvement initiatives
• Provide local and remote packaging troubleshooting support
• Support implementation of Packaging GOPs, identify good practices that can become new GOPs, escalate and multiply
• Support/enhance the Plant Optimisation management system by creating operational standards: SOPs, GOPs, written and video training material
• Direct technology vendors and OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to provide performance improvement solutions
• Deploy classroom and hands-on-based training to other ZBS specialists, field operations and maintenance teams, and assist in developing pipeline of Plant Technical Experts (PTEs)
• Apply engineering analysis to systems/equipment design and drive modifications to support debottlenecking production lines
• Network with other experts, inside and outside the company, in order to stay on top of the knowledge of the subject matter of expertise - attend conferences, seminars, workshops and associated training
• Use of Lean Tools to support operational efficiency
• Conduct machine and associated equipment audits and drive actions execution
• Support TIF (Technical Innovation Factory) and Tech Supply projects to accelerate performance improvement
• Track and monitor machine group performance

Qualifications and Experience
The occupant of this position should possess:

• B.Eng /HND  - Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• 5 years’ experience in a related field
• Good knowledge of Modern Asset care Principles.

• Excellent machine and associated process specific knowledge
• Knowledge and ability to coach on Plant Optimisation (Special attention to the safety, maintenance and management pillars)
