MyJobMag 30 Day Work Challenge: Day 23 - Ignore social media

So ready for today’s challenge?

How many times do you check your social media feeds in a day? If you are like most people, they check their social media accounts like almost every minute. Some even check first thing in the morning.

It has been estimated that the average person spends around 2 hours 22 minutes on social media every day? That is around 32 hours a week.

While not bad and we are not saying you should not use social media platforms, the truth of the matter is that constant social media usage can gradually become very addictive. In fact, the secret is that social media platforms are built to be addictive and such that you keep returning to it every time.

However, this can take a toll on a lot of stuff because you can get carried away and spend more time than you initially plan.

If you really want to get more done, then you need to make practical effort to cut down on the amount of time you spend on social media platforms. One way to do this is to cut off mobile data when you really want to focus on an important task so that you will not be distracted by prompts. Some may go as far as setting up time when they go online but whatever you do, don’t let social media become a waste of time for you. It is supposed to be a pleasant distraction.

Now that is all for today’s challenge. Join us on LinkedIn and let us know how you are faring.
