    Cotton Procurement Officer

    Location: Gombe/ Funtua

    • Keep abreast of the developments in the local cotton market to identify the value chain and leverage on opportunities
    • Build relationship with Farmer/ LBAs/ Ginneries
    • Understand Seed Cotton and Lint Quality and ensure adherence to quality standards during Procurement
    • To work ethically and maintain and promote the image of Wacot among suppliers and across the market
    • Develop and report insights and analysis of local cotton market covering elaborate capacities of Farmer/ LBA/ Ginneries; quality and availability of Seed Cotton
    • Regularly conduct SWOT analysis to create and sustain a competitive edge within the market
    • Establish a sustainable and strong relationship with trustworthy partners
    • Ensure successful closing of a procurement process with regards to contractual agreement, documentation, and shipment.
    • Design and execute profitable initiatives

    Qualifications

    • 4 years’ experience in procurement industry, ideally in cotton related procurement
    • Existing relationships with LBAs, Ginneries and other operators in local cotton market preferred
    • Understanding of Cotton Quality preferred
    • Integrity, Team Player, Hard working
    • Fluency in Local Language
    • HND/ BS in any discipline
    • Business acumen
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills
    • Good bargaining, pricing and negotiation skills
    • Problem solving, data literacy and analytical skills

    Quality Officer

    Location: Funtua/ Gombe

    Key Responsibilities include:

    • Monitor Input Seed Cotton and production processes to ensure alignment with the established desired Lint Cotton quality standard and Outturn
    • Follow/Develop efficient and adequate sampling and testing techniques
    • Conduct conclusive analysis on the quality of production lot
    • Ensure timely, consistent and informative reporting
    • Develop effective methods to monitor and control wastages
    • Ensure proper storage of Bales to prevent losses
    • Ensure cotton seeds are properly classified based on level of quality
    • Ensure quick and clear communications with the production and maintenance team
    • Ensure proper utilization and management of quality data

    Qualifications

    HND/BSC in science related course

    • 1 – 2 years’ experience in quality systems capacities, ideally in commodity industry. Cotton Preferable
    • Local Language Fluency
    • Hard working and Integrity
    • Analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
    • Excellent people management skills
    • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
    • High level of professionalism and the ability to multitask.

    Production Supervisor- Cotton Ginnery

    We seek an experienced Production Supervisor to be based in Sagamu.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests
    • Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record- keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements
    • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
    • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques
    • Set daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicate them to employees
    • Meet required production target in terms of quality and quantity
    • Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules
    • Submit reports on performance and progress
    • Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing operations. Experience in edible oil processing is desired.
    • 2+ years’ experience in a supervisory capacity
    • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science/ Engineering or Applied Sciences is required

    Additional Information

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
    • Strong understanding of core demand management process and understanding of forecasting heuristics
