    Accountant

    Details:

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB
    To be in charge of the accounting and financial management of AiQ Management Capital and its various Strategic Business Units and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements applicable to businesses in Nigeria and contribute to strategic growth of the company.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • We are seeking candidate with strong financial accounting backgrounds, experience in, and familiarity with SEC regulatory and compliance issues.
    • Must possess strong accounting skills
    • Must be proficient in the use of major accounting packages and the MS Office suite of software, especially Excel.
    • Strong capacity for creating and maintaining spreadsheets, and ease with multiple financial systems are essential requirements.
    • Expertise in cash flow management and other aspects of cost control and containment are a plus.
    • The ideal candidate has experience supporting financial decision makers.
    • Ability to interact with all levels of the organisation, including internal and external parties
    • Must be well versed in Audit Procedures, and Balance Sheet/Income Statement Reporting
    • Ability to work independently and meet hard deadlines.

    TASKS
    The Accountant will, among others, undertake the following tasks:
    Overview of accounting and financial management responsibilities:

    • Review existing policies and where necessary establish appropriate implement policies for effective management of the accounting function. of  existing finance and accounting policies
    • Processing of all payment requests.
    • Cash flow management.
    • Book keeping and transaction recording.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

    Accounting and Finance

    • Prepare monthly financial statements and other financial reports as needed for financial reporting and analysis
    • Ensure that financial transactions and events are recorded, classified and summarized in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
    • Review and post journal entries and cash receipts entries
    • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
    • Coordinate the activities of external auditors and the preparation of the annual audited financial statements and annual tax returns.
    • Ensure that accounting documents and records are maintained in accordance with established records retention policies
    • Recommend changes in financial policies and procedures, as necessary.
    • Ensure that internal controls are in place to safeguard financial assets and that proper compliance of established internal controls is being met.
    • Lead the preparation and effective management and control of the company’s budgets
    • Manage and control all capital and revenue budgets effectively
    • Lead on the financial aspects of any strategic projects aimed at achieving growth of the organisation.
    • Have an overview of the activities and budgets for each department to ensure the procedures laid down in the company’s financial policies are adhered to.
    • Maintain up-to-date records of the company’s financial information.

    Treasury

    • Banking administration–setup and monitor new / existing bank accounts, authorized signatories, etc.
    • Cash flow monitoring – report daily cash positions to monitor liquidity and significant cash flows.

    PERSON SPECIFICATION
    Essential Experience

    • Significant experience within a corporate environment
    • Proven experience in direct management and supervision of a team.
    • Proven experience of budget preparation, setting and monitoring and financial forecasting
    • Proven experience of preparing and presenting financial and management accounts, reports and data.
    • Experience of liaising with auditors, business advisers and board members.

    Knowledge/Qualifications

    • Qualified accountant to at least CIMA, ACCA or ACA level (minimum final prequalification stage with strong evidence of highlighted experience )
    • Good working knowledge of accounting software and systems
    • Knowledge of management systems for all accounting functions including purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll, cash and banking

    Abilities

    • Excellent oral and written communication and good report writing skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and a good team Leader and player
    • Ability to set targets, motivate and inspire staff to achieve targets.
    • Ability to prioritize responsibilities under pressure and be self-motivating

    • Excellent time management skills
