    Operator - Concrete Plant

    Reporting to: Site & Building Maintenance Supervisor

    Purpose/Role

    • To ensure the day-to-day set up and tear down, operation, maintenance and record keeping for the concrete batching plant.
    • Responsible for making quality concrete and providing it in a timely manner schedule (i.e. for internal & external clients).
    • To ensure that all concrete we produce meets 100% the required specifications.

    Key Aims and Objectives

    • Control the process to produce concrete from raw ingredients and additives according to predetermined specifications using computer batching software.
    • Verifies correct admixtures are used in correct dosages and provides verification that the concrete batched meets the specifications established by company and customer.
    • The operator adjusts batching weights and quantities as necessary to maintain specifications. Batch man must be customer service minded, be able to keep a level head under stressful conditions and work overtime when required. This position requires day-to-day interaction with other employees.
    • Coordination of daily plant activities such as scheduling truck drivers (for the delivery of raw materials and ready mix collection) and ordering plant materials.
    • Manage control to heat, weigh and mix aggregate, cement, and water to produce concrete that conforms processing specifications.
    • Required the ability to repair machinery, using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.

    Prime Responsibilities and Duties

    • Operations of complete plant with its auxiliary units.
    • Preventive & predictive maintenance of batch plant & its auxiliary units.
    • Maintain housekeeping (5S) and cleanliness of plant area and support machinery area, environmental, State and local governing regulations.
    • Raw Material status reports (e.g. in stock, consumed and required).
    • Scheduling the routine & preventive maintenance without affecting the production schedule.
    • Responsible for Batch Plant Production on computerized batching system.
    • Maintain fresh material in ample supply to maintain production levels.
    • Maintain admixtures in ample supply to maintain production levels.
    • Ensuring timely batching of materials for assured compliance with job descriptions and on time delivery.
    • Completes daily service requirements of the ready mix plant; helps inspects plant for preventative maintenance issues.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental and air quality regulations and specifications.
    • Troubleshoots and resolves maintenance problems to ensure efficient operations.
    • General maintenance of water pumps and electrical requirements and wear prevention of equipment.
    • Performs general maintenance on conveyor belts, pumps and ready mix plant equipment.
    • Performs preventive maintenance checks and services on compressors.
    • Calibrate Batch Plant daily.
    • Fill aggregate hoppers.
    • Schedule filling aggregate bunkers and cement silos.
    • Maintain Batch Plant (e.g. grease bearings and replacing conveyor belts, etc.).
    • Ensure that all safety regulations and policies are followed ALL times.
    • Ensure that all company environmental regulations and policies are followed.
    • Inform proper personnel of any quality problems that need resolving.
    • Must have a thorough knowledge of the automated batch plant operation, including ELBA Command Batch and with ERP interface.

    Other Duties

    • Perform other related duties as assigned by Site & Building Maintenance Supervisor, Site Utilities Mgr, Facilities GM and Director of Operations.
    • Participate in proactive safety programs including Hazard Observation program; UC/UA.
    • Quality Control Tasks:
      • Take moisture samples
      • Calculate water/cement ratio and know the capability of mixes
      • Take test cylinders of concrete
      • Break Test cylinders
      • Keep record of all test and batch tickets/LOTs
      • Know the admixtures and what are their capabilities

    The Persons

    • Knowledge of maintenance of the plant.
    • Fault diagnosis ability.
    • Interest & promptness to work and improve the skills.
    • Good housekeeping methods, obedience and sincerity at work.
    • Good co-ordination abilities.
    • Total 5 years of work experience.
    • Minimum 3 years as full-fledged Concrete Batching Plant Operator of a totally computerised plant.
    • Ability to work as part of a team and multi-task in a fast paced environment.
    • Ability to understand and carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
    • Proficient with PC Skills such as key boarding and familiarity with Microsoft Windows Office Software.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • 1-2 years maintenance experience with ready mix operations.
    • Experience generally in the concrete industry as a Batch Plant Operator (Minimum of 3 years).
    • Ability to work scheduled hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and overtime as needed. The position requires shift work, 24/7 365 per year.

    • High school graduate
    • Certifications (should be considered as advanced):
    • ACI concrete field testing technician grade 1
    • ACI concrete strength testing technician

    Assistant / Helper

    Job Description (but not limited to)

    • Ability to perform works like assisting craft technicians, cleaning and housekeeping, etc.
    • Understands and apply plant safety standards and maintenance procedures while performing the work.
    • Will be subject to in house training on safety, Quality, etc.

    Educational Qualification

    • Fluent knowledge of English language (speak, read and writing).
    • Basic Primary education.

    Minimum Work Experience

    • Basic Knowledge of equipment names, spare part names, etc will be preferable.

    Welder

    Reports to: Fabrication Manager and Welding Manager

    Prime Responsibilities and Duties

    • Ability to weld all position of welding such as 3G, 4G, 6G & 6GR on SMAW/FCAW on both plate and pipe.
    • Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.
    • Welding spare parts in various directions: flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead, etc.;
    • Supervising and identifying any fault in operating the equipment or in relation to any material or equipment, then notifying the supervisors;
    • Clamping, holding, tack-welding, heat-bending, bolting, or grinding spare parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements and create a welded final product;
    • Operating other accessory equipments and performing some tasks necessary for welding metal, such as fusing metal segments, using gas tungsten arc, metal arc, flux-cored arc, and other types of welding arcs;
    • Examining finish products and spare parts and comparing them with samples to check whether the specifications are met;
    • Being in charge of preparing and setting up necessary tools and equipments for welding job such as shielded metal arc, gas metal arc or other welding equipments

    The Person

    • Relevant trade test(s) and SSCE. Higher qualifications are added advantages.
    • Working experience on an EPC project will be an additional advantage
    • 3 -5 years minimum, in major Oil & Gas EPC projects, must possess vast Knowledge in the fabrication industry.
    • Safety certificate (general) and other safety certification will be an added advantage.

    E&I Superintendent

    Reporting to: E&I Construction Manager

    Purpose/Role

    • To supervise all activities of E&I Technicians on both platforms (OFD3 and OFD5) ensuring that E&I installations are successfully executed and implemented as per Client/Project Specifications with zero injuries and/or downtime.

    Key Aims and Objectives

    • Ensure construction works meet Client/Project Specifications.
    • Provide onsite solutions to challenges and problems encountered during installation of E&I packages and equipment.
    • Make Red-line mark ups as per site determined modifications.
    • Monitor man-power allocation in line with work progress.

    Prime Responsibilities and Duties

    • Develop and maintain a Material Delivery Schedule for all installation materials and equipment to be delivered to site as at when due in order to ensure a logical sequence of work progress.
    • Ensure materials listing in work packs are correct and quantities requested are in line as per overall quantities procured.
    • Provide technical advice and solutions to challenges/problems where on-site situations vary from detailed engineering documentation, with the approval of the E&I Construction Manager.
    • Developing a site access plan as per available work-fronts for the Commissioning Team during testing of completed Electrical, Instrument and Telecom installations on a system-by- system basis.
    • Liaising with Fabrication to ensure timely availability of respective E&I Supports for installation to avoid potential delays to mounting and installation of equipment and packages.
    • Review of Red-line mark ups issue by Field Supervisors as per site determined modifications and issuing same to Engineering for preparation of As-Built Drawings (ASB).

    Qualifications
    The Persons:

    • The right candidate should possess hands on field experience in Electrical and Instrumentation Project Installations, Electrical Systems/PLC controls, Instrumentation and must be Computer literate with good knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word.
    • The right candidate should also possess a minimum of 6 (six) years of experience having supervised, partaken and engaged in Oil & Gas Construction and Pre-commissioning activities particularly of offshore Oil & Gas Production Platforms with good knowledge of Production systems, Gas lift & Water Injection systems, Manifolds etc.

    Structural Fabrication Superintendent

    Purpose

    • Manages and coordinates the deployment and activities of structural fabrication personnel and equipment within an assigned project or area of work.
    • Ensure all work activities are undertaken in compliance with HSEQ manual, Safe Work Practises, Project Specifications, and relevant Codes and Standards.
    • Ensure efficient and effective delivery in accordance with Project Schedules.

    Key aims

    • Safety of all personnel.
    • Ensure all activities are in compliance with HSEQ manual, Project Specifications and all relevant procedures.
    • Ensure fabrication tools & equipment are available for the work scope in accordance with project plans and schedules.
    • Ensure all fitters have the appropriate training and competency assessments for the work to be undertaken

    Key requirements

    • Manage all structural fabrication/construction and associated activities carried out within assigned work area.
    • Identify in a timely manner the manpower and equipment requirements for the assigned work.
    • Allocate resources and equipment to work areas.
    • Allocation of work fronts to Structural Fabrication Supervisors.
    • Ensure assigned work is progressing in accordance with project schedules.
    • Ensure weld preparations and fit-ups are in compliance with Weld Procedure Specifications, QA/QC requirements and specified dimensional tolerances.
    • Monitor productivity, fit-up and dimensional reject rates and schedule performance and be pro-active in investigating the reasons for poor performance and implementing corrective measures.
    • Ensure all fabrication equipment is maintained in good working order.
    • Ensure all equipment being used is functioning properly and has the required certification in place.
    • Ensure fabrication equipment is made available for scheduled inspection and maintenance.
    • Liaise with the Welding Superintendent on fitting and welding sequences and distortion control.
    • Liaise with the Rigging Superintendent on planned fabrication sequences to ensure lifting and movements can be performed safely and efficiently.
    • Liaise with the Scaffold Superintendent on planned fabrication sequences so scaffold requirements can be addressed in a timely manner.
    • Liaise with Coatings Superintendent on capabilities and limitations for fabricated items requiring blast and paint.
    • Liaise with the Training Manager on fitter training requirements.
    • Report non-conformances associated with structural/fitting operations.
    • Ensure all personnel within the work area understand and operate to the required quality procedures efficiently and effectively.
    • Ensure work areas are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
    • Prepare Task Risk Assessments as required.
    • Participate in Toolbox Talks.
    • Identify, stop and immediately correct unsafe acts or conditions.
    • Liaise with other craft superintendents within assigned project.
    • Work with Construction Managers and Superintendents on other projects to ensure the most efficient use of equipment across the facility.
    • Give clear and concise instructions to team members and follow up to ensure safe and timely execution.
    • Ensure good discipline is maintained.
    • Hold members of the fabrication team accountable for work performance as per their roles and responsibilities
    • Demonstrate good planning and organisation in day to day activities.
    • Contribute to the Continuous Improvement Process within the fabrication function.
    • Set professional standards of behavior.
    • Contribute to overall construction plans by considering efficient and effective methods of executing the work.
    • Attend meetings as required, on time and prepared.
    • Share the workload of other superintendents during leave rotations.
    • Mentor, train and assess Nigerian national personnel under his/her control.
    • Listen to and evaluate any employee concerns.

     Job Requirements

    • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience of fabrication/construction in the oil and gas construction (or other relevant) industry. At least 5-7 years at superintendent/supervisory level.
    • Time-served apprenticeship as a fitter/plater/fabricator in a fabrication environment with minimum qualification of City & Guilds or Diploma.
    • Conversant with all types of fabrication tools and equipment.
    • Ability to demonstrate a complete understanding and show commitment to the importance of HSE and Quality in the day to day activities in a fabrication facility.
    • Ability to lead and manage a team and to mentor and train others.
