    Senior Electrical Supervisor

    Job description
    The Senior Electrical Supervisor will be a professional to follow the day-to-day activities on site, making sure the progress is being completed according to approved drawings and approved material submitted. This position will use planning, monitoring and controlling processes, to ensure completion of projects on time and according to budget by setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring and communicating project progress. In addition to reading, analyzing and implementing maps, the successful candidate will supervise and coordinate activities of workers/subcontractors installing, repairing, and inspecting field electrical equipment making sure it is compliant with government electrical codes and company standards.

    Responsibilities for this role include but not limited to the following:

    •     Plan installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes
    •     Plan wiring and installation of equipment and fixtures such as motors, generators, as well as control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels
    •     Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components
    •     Inspect wiring and fixtures for conformance to specifications or local electrical codes.
    •     Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
    •     Repair faulty equipment or systems.
    •     Study schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
    •     Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
    •     Establish or adjust work procedures to meet schedules.
    •     Recommend measures to improve methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
    •     Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
    •     Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems.
    •     Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.

    Requirements
    The ideal candidate will have the following qualification and experiences:

    •     Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred, or an equivalent combination of education from a well reputed university.
    •     Strong professional background with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field.
    •     Minimum of 8 years of experience in a managerial position in electromechanical construction projects.
    •     Experience in Africa preferred.
    •     Proven administrative, leadership and management ability in the area of project management, business development and/or tendering.
    •     Proficient in Autocad.
    •     Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (MS Words, Excel, PowerPoint).
    •     Proficient in Project Planning tools.
    •     Fluent in English and French is a plus
    •     Very good analytical thinking capabilities.
    •     Very good at solving complex problems.
    •     Very good leadership skills.

    Senior MEP Manager

    Job description
    The MEP Manager is responsible for numerous pre-construction tasks, construction and post construction tasks and services. This position will monitor the time and cost performance of the electromechanical sections of projects, and provides support for their improvement. As part of a larger team, the MEP Manager is also responsible for developing critical relationships with internal and external clients and team members.

    Responsibilities for this role include but not limited to the following:

    •     Review drawings and generate drawing review comments that indicate constructability issues, value engineering, incomplete scope of work and dimensional problems to ensure timely correction and early detection of any potential issues
    •     Provide advice and insight into estimating budgets ensuring all MEP components are included and price estimates are accurate and realistic
    •     Provide MEP expertise on conceptual bids to make certain all MEP systems are accurately estimated and all system components are included
    •     Review project documents to become familiar with MEP and overall requirements, review project documents (specs and manuals), MEP systems and designs for technical feasibility and provide feedback to project team and client regarding constructability issues, value engineering, filling the scope of work, gaps, etc.
    •     Ensures compliance with respective corporate policies, procedures, local laws and regulations.
    •     Perform timely site inspections and quality tests, suggest improvements, and immediately inform construction team of problems in order to correct/repair site deficiencies without impacting cost/schedule and ensure MEP systems are operating as intended prior to occupancy by Owner/Client
    •     Ensures the availability and proper allocation of resources
    •     Coordinate directly with MEP subcontractors for successful completion of project requirements and scheduling of functional performance testing of equipment and systems. (integrating testing procedure into the project schedule)
    •     Define maintenance requirements and evaluate warranty claims for all MEP systems, as needed and share info with project team for inclusion in the O&M manual
    •     Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with all core vendors and subs to ensure competitive pricing, priority delivery and top service and clear understanding of Shawmut expectations regarding quality, timeliness, etc
    •     Contribute in planning projects in cooperation with execution directors and project managers.

    Requirements
    The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

    •     Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical/Mechanical engineering.
    •     You have a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in a similar position and industry of which 5 years as an MEP Manager.
    •     You are fluent in English and French are an asset.
    •     You identify with our core competencies by possessing an entrepreneurial mind, showing flexibility, being innovative and result-oriented while promoting teamwork.
    •     You equally possess excellent communication skills, an analytical mind and you are client focused.
    •     By preference you are immediately available (within 4 weeks after signing contract).

    Project Director

    Job description
    The Project Director will be accountable for managing large size, complex building projects. He will supervise and direct people working on the project, control costs and payments and negotiate with building owners and subcontractors.

    Responsibilities for this role include but not limited to the following:

    •     Represents the company to the client, authorities, sub-contractors and suppliers
    •     Validates the objectives on technical matters (choice of equipment/plant), financial matters (forecast and expenditure) and human matters
    •     Organize the Project Team and fortify all required positions with appropriate and competent persons to undertake project management functions of the project
    •     Ensures that the teams have checked the project is in line with the clauses of the contract and of the specifications
    •     Foster an environment of building team morale and build consensus with the project team
    •     Is in charge of the Quality-Safety-Environment (QSE) monitoring of his/her project and runs a monthly site visit
    •     Implements the Sustainable Development policy (indicators and actions compatible with the country’s capacities, etc.) and coordinates it with any other possible projects of the business unit
    •     Defines the structure to be built in the finest detail: execution schedule, technical options, etc
    •     Manage project to meet cost, schedule, safety, quality and contractual requirements to the satisfaction of internal and external customers
    •     Develop budgets, creating schedules, evaluating production rates, financial forecasting and other project related administration
    •     Liaises with the client during the entire execution phase of the project
    •     Coordinates the weekly reports given by his/her team
    •     Validates reports.
    •     Defines the contractual and commercial strategies related to the list of risks/opportunities.
    •     Review and approve project expenditures, costs, estimates, budgets, financial forecasts and project schedules.
    •     Handles unexpected situations like serious accidents, strikes, bankruptcies, demonstrations
    •     Identify and solve complex problems; use a broad perspective and resources outside the project team to develop solutions, ensure consistency with the project objectives.

    Requirements
    Qualification and experience for this role include:

    •     Bachelor degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering or related field
    •     A Minimum of 10 years of related construction and project management experience
    •     Be able to lead, coordinate, negotiate and know how to take decisions when necessary
    •     Experience in preparing contracts and negotiating revisions, as well as additions to contractual agreements with consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors
    •     Must have technical knowledge and be profit minded
    •     Must be methodical, available, attentive, objective, tenacious, dynamic, creative and have sense of responsibility and authority
    •     Likes human contact, knows how to share information and has feeling for the common good.
    •     Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, team-based environment
    •     Ability to set goals and expectations and hold others accountable;
    •     Ability to develop and maintain relationships
    •     Strong communication and good presentation skills
    •     Demonstrated leadership skills
