    Programmer / Developer

    Job code: PDH002

    ROLE PURPOSE:
    To help advance new technologies with our various innovative platforms.

    WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
    You will be in charge of designing and developing the front-end of our projects but will also be expected to jump in back-end development when necessary. You will be working with other team members in technical, operations and creative areas (web designers, web developers, projects managers). 

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

    • Design, develop and maintain web based business applications in a Microsoft .Net 4.0 & above environment using C#
    • Design, develop and maintain web based business applications PHP 5.1 and above
    • Must be able to do debugging, staging, testing, and deploying of web based applications and native client applications.
    • Ability to write SQL queries for MS SQL server and other database management system
    • Should be able to integrate solutions to existing web services.
    • Basic knowledge of Git. We have multiple installments for different countries hosted in the cloud.
    • Advance knowledge of Code Igniter. You need to know it in and out. Our projects are all based off of it, so you need to have prior experience; PHP alone won’t do it. We want someone who knows CI already, but if you are proficient with Zend, then you should be fine.
    • Advance knowledge of MySQL. We send millions of emails (all non-spam) and obviously track a lot of movement points within the system. We have a team of always-hungry marketers that challenge us with requests to provide sophisticated reports from our systems. You need to know how to build optimized queries (some that may take tens of subqueries, etc.) that drill through multiple databases, using JOIN, HAVING, GROUP, writing custom FUNCTIONs, etc.
    • Experience with payments gateways huge plus. We deliver our offers to countries that obviously use different currencies and payment methods (credit cards, vouchers, etc.).
    • Experience with API. If you developed your own API that a huge plus, but if you played with API made by others, this is good for us too.
    • Fluent knowledge of HTML, jQuery, JavaScript, Bootstrap. Knowledge of editing graphics for websites. Knowledge of SMTP server, Email protocol and Linus/Apache configuration is a big plus.
    • Be able to build scalable web application that handles millions of users, and optimize code for many platforms.
    • Develop Web Applications for mission-critical business functions
    • Actively participate in all aspects of the concept developments and application Development life cycle
    • Create technical specifications and schedule estimates for new products, then execute from start to finish alone with little or no supervision.
    • Maintain and improve existing web applications.
    • Target users on multiple devices (mobile, desktop, TV) in multiple locations using the smallest possible code footprint.
    • Break down and solve complex interaction and technical problems.
    • Contribute to development of APIs, which are used by thousands of partners worldwide. 

    QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: 

    • Good understanding of PHP 5.2 and above
    • Good understanding of Angular programming
    • Good understanding of Angular JS and other PHP APIs
    • Mastery of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and fluency with C# or at least one underlying application development language such as: Java, Python or PHP.
    • Capacity to look beyond problem solving to discover first principles and common patterns, i.e., the ability to see the forest from the trees.
    • Effective writing and communication skills.
    • Easygoing, enthusiastic personality and a good sense of humor.
    • Ability to execute with minimal oversight while responding within an agile, collaborative team.
    • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience delivering popular consumer web or mobile applications.
    • Healthy drive to test software and watch others do the same. Passion for building great software.
    • Conversant with Stored Procedures, Windows server 2003, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax.
    • First class verbal and written communication skills; strong presentational skills. Demonstrated experience of influencing and negotiating confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Excellent organisational skills – proven experience of managing multiple priorities on a regional basis, in a pressurised environment. Strong attention to detail is essential.
    • Proactive and solutions-driven, takes action to achieve business goals beyond what is required.
    • Previous people-management experience is required where this has involved the development and coaching of others. Experience of resolving performance issues, conducting appraisals and setting objectives is highly desirable.
    • Fluency in English, French and a bit of Arabic (both written and verbal) is essential.
    • Computer literate – advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Able to use and build spreadsheets/basic financial models.

    The Role:
    To design and execute relevant measurable marketing strategies for the organisation – across the country, Sub Saharan Africa and the Middle East – that delivers tangible results. To implement initiatives that are designed to increase turnover volumes and brand awareness, improve profitability and satisfy our marketing commitments.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Gather secondary data and co-ordinate market research for the region, focusing on priority states and countries as defined in annual budget.
    • Successfully develop and implement marketing, communication and product development plans to maximise turnover volumes and opportunities across the country and region
    • Project Documentations & Strategy Development, Prospecting, Lead development and management, Proposals, presentation and sales pitches, Negotiations and Closing.
    • Analyse relevant competitor strategies & price, product and service offerings, document and assess, share findings with possible solutions, considering impact of recommendations on P&L, clients and customers.
    • Design and Implement various online, Mobile BTL media/VAS Content and tactical campaigns to drive increases in turnover volume and market share.
    • Work with the MD to develop and implement a robust business plan document for the region that delivers target levels of turnover profit.
    • Define and implement a marketing control process to ensure brand consistency and integrity is maintained. Conduct all pre-work, create appropriate templates/manuals, and roll out to suppliers, Agents etc.  Ensure ongoing effectiveness of control process through regular communication with users, providing ongoing training and guidance.  Review and amend control process on an ongoing basis.
    • Negotiate joint marketing campaigns including Agent investment in countries of focus.
    • Manage marketing efforts post-campaign; proactively contribute feedback on an ongoing basis. Continually monitor marketing performance considering changes within the marketplace; undertake thorough analysis to ensure turnover volume targets are met.
    • Ensures that skills and potential are maximised, motivation is maintained and a professional approach is adopted at all times.
    • Will ensure that own and direct report’s responsibilities are clearly defined each year, and clear objectives and priorities are set in line with corporate goals. Will ensure that a ‘right first time and delivery to outcome and deadline’ culture is created and maintained.
    • Ensures the completion of annual performance appraisal process to include regular review and assessment throughout the course of the year with direct reports.
    • Organise and participate in relevant exhibitions, fairs and other community events throughout the year, including planning and ensuring maximum participation in partner events within the region.
    • Measure all initiatives and report results on a monthly basis.

    SCOPE/CONTEXT:

    • Some level of travel throughout the region may be expected.
    • Responsible for the management of a marketing budget

     QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

    • Demonstrated experience of operating at a similar level of seniority – breadth of knowledge/experience at a senior level of operation will have encompassed network development, marketing/sales management, financial and risk analysis.
    • Degree educated.
    • Proven track record in marketing management where this has involved defining, delivering and driving marketing strategies.
    • Demonstrated ability to operate at both a strategic and operational level, to include implementation and budgetary management on a regional level. Solid experience must have been gained in a consumer focused environment within the financial services industry or in an agency environment.
    • First class verbal and written communication skills; strong presentational skills. Demonstrated experience of influencing and negotiating confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
