    Job Description

    The Grants Development & Fundraising Manager for the identification of funding opportunities for developing new resources and new donor partnerships for Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project and expanding the grants development and fundraising portfolio, to ensure that new opportunities are explored and developed for organisational financial sustainability. Duties and Responsibilities are:

    • Reviewing and actioning the sustainability framework for Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project with support from the Executive Director, other Management Staff and the Communications team.
    • Developing and implementing an annual fundraising strategy to Identify and maximize opportunities to generate and secure new funds for the Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project on short-medium and long term. To develop and execute strategies to raise restricted and unrestricted funds from corporate donors, charitable trusts and individual giving through appeals, campaigns, events, proposals and other such means as would be deemed appropriate.
    • Representing Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project to potential donors through direct communication via email, Skype, telephone calls and where appropriate and relevant through face to face meetings.
    • Leading the development of fundraising information and materials to support donor partnership development in line with the Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project Partnership Framework.
    • Managing a database of all funding applications showing potential donors, requests submitted and active grants. Liaising with the Finance department to undertake regular cost reviews and analysis of Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project’s resources to identify gaps for funding, especially for core costs.
    • Liaising with the Programmes departments to acquire information that will be used to expand the grants database for Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project s active/funded grants and to identify strategic areas of work that require new funding.
    • Providing feedback to existing and potential donors in liaison with the Communication Department.
    • Researching new potential donors with an action plan for follow up with timelines.
    • Developing funding proposals and concept notes in collaboration with other Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project management staff.
    • Ongoing sustainability of Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project including generating unrestricted funding for the projects core costs as well as funds that be invested as reserves for the organisation.

    Desired Skills and Experience
    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelors degree in International Relations, Marketing, Public Administration, Public Relations, Business Administration or any other development related field.
    • At least 5 years experience in Grants development and fundraising management.
    • At least 5 years experience in grants and fundraising management
    • Experience in Grants and fundraising in NGO environment.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Excellent organisational skills with a minimum of one year’s administrative experience, preferably gained within a voluntary sector setting
    • Excellent research skills
    • High level of self-motivation and experience of working under one's own initiative, as well as a member of a small, interdependent team
    • Experience of working to exacting deadlines
    • Education to degree level or equivalent experience
    • Ability and willingness to work some unsociable hours (evenings / weekends) and to occasionally travel overseas
    • Strong knowledge and understanding of international development issues
    • Excellent IT skills, including Word and Excel

    Desirable Qualities:

    • Experience of fundraising from trusts, foundations or other sources
    • Experience of producing project budgets
    • Experience of report writing
    • Experience of working or volunteering in an international development agency
    • Experience of working in a multicultural environment
    • Experience of Client Relationship Management databases

    Job Description

    The Communications Manager will set and guide the strategy for all communications, website, and public relations messages and collateral to consistently articulate Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project's mission. The Communications Manager will work closely with other management staff within the organization as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives. You can be a huge help to us and can accomplish this VIRTUALLY!

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications plan across the network's discreet audiences in collaboration with the Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project team and constituents
    • Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action.
    • Decide who, where, and when to disseminate
    • Put communications vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities
    • Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, and Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project's website
    • Mentor and lead a team member responsible for Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project 's website administration and coordination
    • Coordinate webpage maintenance—ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly
    • Track and measure the level of engagement within the network over time
    • Manage development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, annual report, e-newsletters, and Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project's website
    • Manage all media contacts

    Desired Skills and Experience
    Afterschool Peer Mentoring project is seeking:

    • An accomplished Director of Communications who has at least 4 years of communications experience, ideally with corporate and non profit sector based experiences and covering areas such as website content, newsletters, and donor communications.
    • The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages, and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels is critical.
    • Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies
    • Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills
    • A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently
    • Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to "manage by influence."
    • High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels
    • Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
    • Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
