    Team Assistant

    About the Job

    • The Team Assistant provides support to the Plant Manager by effectively managing his/her schedule and performing a wide variety of responsible, complex and confidential administrative, secretarial, analytical and research duties. He/she will also support the wider team with administrative activities.
    • This classification requires leadership qualities such as adaptability, flexibility, dependability, confidentiality and accountability. Much of the work is support driven, and requires a high sense of urgency, independence, initiative and self-discipline.

    What you'll be doing 

    • Sees to the effective management of the Plant Manager calendar by organizing and maintaining diaries and making appointments
    • Ensure confidentiality of information from the Plant Manager office
    • Arrange travel, visas and accommodation and where required may attend meetings to take notes or dictation or to provide general assistance during meetings;
    • Screening phone calls, enquiries and requests, and handling them when appropriate;
    • Dealing with incoming email, faxes and post, often corresponding on behalf of the Plant Manager
    • Preparation of Departmental correspondence documents such as briefing papers, reports and presentations;
    • Organizing and attending meetings and ensuring the Plant Manager is well prepared for meetings
    • Liaising with clients, suppliers and other staff.
    • File and retrieve corporate documents and reports
    • Ensure involvement in the implementation and maintenance of integrated management system in the plant

    Requirements

    • Preferably Graduate any discipline
    • Minimum 2 years relevant experience
    • Exemplary customer service skills, including the ability to identify needs, provide prompt response, and exhibit patience, respect and professionalism in all interactions
    • Must be able to interpret and present data
    • Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
    • Must be highly proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail applications
    • Able to organize and plan complex initiatives.
    • Proficiency in local dialects would be an advantage

    Quarry Supervisor

    About the Job

    • The Quarry Supervisor’s prime objective is to coordinate and supervise the continuous quarry activities meeting objectives for quantity and quality, within safety and environmental standards.
    • He also has to assure overall plant responsibility during off-hours.

    What you'll be doing 

    • Understand and comply with HSE policies to assume that HSE are the first priority of the business. Actively support key safety initiative at the plant and assist the department as needed to improve HSE performance and results
    • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas
    • Follow up all safety procedures, checks for safety hazards and takes corrective action to eliminate safety hazards
    • Conduct a daily Safety meeting with participation from all crew members, and ensure actions have or will be taken on items of concern.
    • A review of all the new Incident Investigations for that time is a mandatory component of the monthly safety meeting. Report on accidents/incidents assuring follow-up.
    • Ensure compliance with safety practices and procedures, availability of safety equipment, and provide first aid treatment.
    • Review with the crew, the instructions left by the Mining Engineer, ensure execution of the jobs or tasks as defined and the operating parameters/guidelines are correctly followed.
    • Monitor the operation of those areas, detect malfunction or abnormal situation and take or trigger the necessary corrective actions.Evaluate possible cause of breakdown, determine urgency of corrective actions and call in repair crew as appropriate.
    • Oversee quality control activities on shift and assist in the decision making in that area.
    • Assure surveillance of the overall plant in the off-hours and assist security on such matters as plant. Assure proper response in the case of emergency situations.
    • Maintain an accurate and detailed account of his shift activities and operation, both qualitative and quantitative in the production log book.
    • Ensure motivation of employees through proper delegation of jobs, participation, recognition, follow-up of suggestions, and fair and equitable treatment of all employees within his group.
    • Initiate action and/or act as resource to the department head in the areas of employee performance, absenteeism, grievance and disciplinary action.
    • Report on daily or shift activities for his group as per established format.
    • All other quarry related tasks including but not limited to: Conduct specific studies or trials. (In consort with the Projects and Process departments.) Prepare procedures or other operating guidelines. Provide formal training to operators. Supervise implementation of specific jobs or projects. Assist in major equipment shutdowns, the compiling of operating data and the taking of physical inventories.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of OND or equivalent in any Engineering discipline Or Geoscience discipline
    • Minimum of 7 years’ post-qualification experience
    • Working knowledge of cement manufacturing processes: Raw meal preparation, burning, combustion, grinding and packing operation.
    • Commitment to the highest standards of safe work habits
    • Good knowledge of safety laws and regulations.
    • Good written and verbal communications skills
    • Able to take initiative based on sound problem solving skills.
    • Demonstrate leadership skills via work ethics, ability to delegate and motivate, fairness, must be hands-on.
    • Machine Main System knowledge.

    Quality Control Analyst

    About the job

    The objective of Quality Control Analyst is to work with other members of the quality  team to maximize operational efficiency in an environment of continuous improvement; to provide timely and accurate process control information, to ensure that all testing equipment is operating properly, and to certify that the completed product meets intended specifications.

    What you'll be doing 

    • Ensures that the work area in the Laboratory is safe, by identifying, reporting and rectifying all safety deviations through use of near miss reporting, Audits and Planned Tasks Observations methods.
    • Ensures that end products comply with the plant specifications and statutory requirements during in process and before being dispatched.
    • Ensures that fuse beads and pellets for in process and finished product are properly prepared and used in XRF analyses.
    • Ensures prompt control of in-process and finished products.
    • Conducts chemical analyses, Ash Content, Calorific Value and Moisture of in-coming materials (gypsum, coal, AF etc) using the available testing instruments as applicable.
    • Interprets all the test results produced and take corrective action for deviation in conjunction through usage of Statistical Process Control Incident plotting and reporting.
    • Makes sure that the standards for the standardization are available.
    • Follows Lafarge Quality Technical Standard (LQTS) in all laboratory tests
    • Adheres to, sample preparation, analysis/testing, sample retention work instructions, always.
    • Informs/consults his superior of any technical difficulties and faults beyond scope immediately.
    • Ensures that the laboratory records are kept up-to-date and allow product traceability.
    • Ensures that the laboratory and other measuring equipment is maintained, serviced, calibrated and in good working condition.
    • Manages the Lab reagents, glassware, equipment/accessories and other equipment spares stocks.
    • Manages testing programs daily.
    • Any other job that may be assigned.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree/ HND in Chemistry, Laboratory Technology, or Chemical Engineering
    • Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in a process industry
    • Good knowledge of cement manufacturing processes: raw meal preparation, burning, air flow, combustion and grinding.
    • Good knowledge of physico-chemical characteristics of products, of parameters and standards applied to cement manufacturing.
    • Good knowledge of the major clients’ uses of the products and of the controlling parameters
    • In-depth knowledge of quality control methods and instruments
    • Good knowledge of process controls, statistical methods and of experimental design
    • Good knowledge of control tools and instruments (operation logic, regulation methods and systems)
    • Good knowledge of current regulations and of specific environmental constraints
    • Good knowledge of project management methods
    • Good knowledge of safety laws and regulations
    • Computer literate (Word, excel, MS project, lotus note).
    • Good knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001)
    • Good planning skills
