    Supervisor: Fuel

    Job Context

    • The Fuel Monitoring Specialist is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of fuel management across a fleet of 500+ trucks.
    • The role focuses on real-time monitoring of fuel sensors and probes, verifying fuel dispensing operations, optimizing sensor performance, managing third-party service providers, and preventing fuel losses.

    Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

    • Monitor the performance of fuel sensors and probes installed on all trucks.
    • Ensure sensors are functioning optimally and remain within the acceptable tolerance levels of accuracy.
    • Report faults or discrepancies and ensure timely repairs or calibration.
    • Ensure accurate quantities of fuel are dispensed from company dumps, third-party filling stations, and directly from partners such as NB Breweries.
    • Validate fuel delivery and offloading records against system data and physical confirmations.
    • Identify and block all potential leakages in the fuel supply chain, including unauthorized offloads and shortchanging incidents.
    • Investigate discrepancies and take corrective action in collaboration with relevant departments.
    • Liaise with third-party service providers to ensure proper maintenance and functioning of fuel monitoring systems.
    • Hold vendors accountable for service level agreements (SLAs) and escalate non-compliance.
    • Ensure strict adherence to all contractual obligations relating to fuel supply and monitoring.
    • Ensure the company receives full value for all fuel-related expenditures.
    • Recommend improvements to ensure optimal cost-efficiency and operational transparency.
    • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on fuel usage, probe performance/accuracy, and discrepancies.
    • Analyze trends to provide actionable insights for operational improvement.
    • Support audit processes with accurate records and data.
    • Recommend improvements to processes based on fuel consumption trends and probe performance.
    • Provide data-driven insights for informed decision-making.

    Qualifications Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

    Skills and Experience Required:

    • Minimum of 3 years
    • Customer relationship management
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office package
    • In-depth understanding of fuel probe/sensor technology and telematics systems.
    • Knowledge of how fuel is dispensed, tracked, and reconciled across various sources (dumps, stations, breweries, etc.)
    • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, charts, etc.).
    • Proficiency in data analysis tools and reporting systems.
    • In-depth knowledge of asset tracking systems, inventory management software, and accounting principles.
    • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.

    HSSEQ Officer

    Key Result Areas:
    Hsseq Leadership:

    • Act as DPA and CSO for all BU vessels.
    • Provide interface between vessels, business unit and divisional management on HSSEQ issues
    • Be the BU HSSEQ focal point for clients, local authorities and external 3rd parties
    • Together with the Fleet Manager - Africa, set & monitor annual KPI’s that will enhance team members’ performances, whilst mutually supporting Corporate and Divisional targets and objectives
    • Allocate at least 60% of work time on vessels, engaging and coaching crewmembers in safety conversations and HSE fundamental behaviors, identifying at-risk behaviors, overseeing HSE aspects of high-risk jobs, evaluating controls, and Identifying and correcting unsafe conditions.

    Incidents & Lessons Learnt:

    • Ensure the Company’s Safety Culture is promoted and maintained to the highest possible standards, in all locations, through;
    • Clear and visible HSSEQ leadership
    • Active engagement with all employees on HSSEQ-related issues
    • Promoting open dialogue between all employees and departments on means to drive and improve HSSEQ
    • Participating in & providing input to HSSEQ-related meetings and inspections
    • Provide HSE oversight of critical safety jobs, for example; permit to work, confined space entry, hot work in potentially hazardous areas, fall protection hazards and inspections, lock out/tag out, non-routine rigging/crane operations and others.
    • Leading with the implementation of the DPW GHSE Pillars and POML IOGP Life Saving Rules

    Hsseq Performance & Analysis:

    • Develop, implement and deliver against a BU Annual HSSEQ Plan that supports achievement of BU and Corporate KPI’s, delivers additional local value, ocean restoration projects and ensures continual improvement
    • Ensure BU monthly performance data is collated effectively, is accurate and is submitted on-time to the Corporate HSSEQ department.
    • Identify trends within local HSSEQ performance and implement effective measures to correct or enhance these trends, as necessary. 
    • Where required, ensure data submitted to Clients is effectively collated & submitted on time, to accurately reflect relevant performance criteria
    • Management & maintenance of HSSEQ Management Modules within the NSe system

    Compliance & Certification:

    • Oversight of local compliance with all legislative, operational, client-driven and internal standards, to ensure;
    • Timely completion of all required HSSEQ audits and inspections, and the retention of associated certification/licenses. 
    • Relevant standards, procedures and best practices are correctly implemented or adopted where required
    • Minimal potential legislative, operational and administrative non-conformity
    • The company’s SMS meets the requirements of all parties and any proposed amendments to internal documents are effectively passed to relevant POML function head,
    • Where BU-specific SMS content is required to be compiled or amended, assist the relevant function head to submit and close such amendments.

    Requirements

    • Must have Professional Qualification or Certification in HSSEQ related field
    • NEBOSH IGC Required as a minimum
    • DPA and CSO qualification preferred
    • Must have 5 years’ experience in the development and implementation of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental programs preferably dealing with offshore supply vessels.
    • Must have experience interacting with clients on HSE matters and building HSE culture.
    • Experienced Mariner preferred.

    Job-Specific Skills:

    • Must have good working knowledge of Class society, Flag state, ISM/ISPS/MLC codes and other statutory regulations relating to vessel operations.
