    Shift Chemist

    Job Description

    • An opportunity has arisen for a Chemist to join the Ethanol production team. The Chemist will perform and manage chemical syntheses in accordance with regulatory and company procedures.
    • Support scale-up and manufacturing phases of product development including the provision of shift cover as required.
    • Carry out in-process analysis, including sample preparation and interpretation.
    • Use test of critical raw materials and intermediates. Participation in and preparation of HAZOP and risk assessments.

    Responsibilities

    • To support the work of the laboratory in the setting up of equipment, preparation of formulation components, and ensure that the environment is to recognized standards
    • To assist in the conduct of experiments and product formulation activities as directed by the Research Chemist where requested, to research information from external sources to inform formulation projects, as directed by the Technical Manager/Research Chemist
    • As part of the Laboratory/formulations team, support the technical/production teams in the recording of processes and the collection of data, samples, and internal methods as directed for the allocated projects
    • To work with the data to analyze and calculate results for specific areas of product development as directed
    • To work with the production staff when trials/scaling-up activities are taking place at the factory to support the recording of any data/sampling etc. and as part of the team
    • Prepare specimens for analysis and observation
    • Conduct specific laboratory tests and record results on the recognized system
    • Maintain laboratory equipment in a safe and secure manner, reporting any repairs or calibrations necessary.

    Candidate Profile

    • Degree in Chemistry or Industrial / Chemical Engineering
    • Minimum of three years’ experience in a laboratory
    • Experience in using formulation/ testing equipment to industry standards
    • Experience in relevant analytical methods, in particular capillary rheometry and DSC.
    • Strong commitment to global environmental challenges including the circular economy of plastics.

    Plant Manager

    Job Description

    • The Plant Manager is responsible for all manufacturing and operational activities in the plant.
    • This includes resource scheduling and optimization in order to supply products safely, and on time at the contracted quality standard.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Responsible for all daily activities and operations in the respective plant.
    • In conjunction with the production planning section, prepare and manage production schedules. This includes all resources; materials, components, facilities, labor, and equipment.
    • Manage, monitor, and report production against the Master Production Schedule and participate in risk-mitigating actions. The Plant Manager must raise early warning of any risk related to delivery deadlines.
    • Set and manage the operational overheads and labor budget/forecast.
    • Control and monitor the direct cost of manufacturing.
    • Provide inputs and motivations to the CAPEX budget.
    • Communicate, monitor, and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and SHEQ systems, standards & procedures.
    • Recommend, motivate and manage process and equipment changes via the official modification process and Engineering Change Proposal. Coordinate the plant modification initiatives.
    • Resolve plant downtime through risk evaluation and task prioritization with the engineering section.
    • Accountable for HR-related problems, which cannot be resolved at the supervisor level. Ensure that performance contracting is maintained as per HR procedures and deadlines.
    • Maintain discipline and comply with company policies, practices, and procedures.
    • Support company vision and value system and ensure calibration throughout the team.

    What Qualifications You Should Have

    • B.Sc Degree / B.Tech qualification in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
    • At least 12 years experience in the Production/Manufacturing environment of which 2 years should have been in leading a team at the Middle Management level.
    • Completing the product-relevant Explosives Management Modules
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities, good judgment, and a decision-maker.
    • Ability to communicate and operate at a Senior Level.
    • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
    • Must be prepared to work irregular hours.
    • Good interpersonal and public speaking skills.
    • Analytical thinker with good reasoning and problem-solving skills on multi-disciplinary projects.
    • Planning and prioritization of multiple tasks, organizational and administrative skills.
    • Proficient computer skills –MS Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project.

    Plant Operator

    Job Responsibilities

    • The Plant Operator will be responsible for operating the plant equipment, boilers, compressed air, water treatment equipment, and controlling the batch process.
    • Perform and respond to QC analysis to ensure optimal plant performance. Other job roles include:
    • Test and maintain proper water chemistry in the boiler and cooling tower.
    • Perform quality control tests on product streams.
    • Follow procedures for plant start-up, shutdown, cleaning and batching.
    • Keep accurate and timely logs.
    • Respond to collected data and adjust to optimize plant operation.
    • Load trucks with products using computers, meters, scales and equipment required to assure timely delivery of products.
    • Understand maintenance of plant equipment, and exhibit a strong mechanical aptitude.
    • Communicate to relieving operators through shift change about what has happened and what is to be done during the next shift.
    • Sustain facilities to maintain a clean environment.
    • Complete any and all tasks assigned, and discuss any problems with Management.
    • Maintain a team environment with other plant departments,
    • Operate wheeled equipment to load trucks.

    Educational Qualification and Experience

    • Candidates should possess an HND / B.Eng Degree
    • 5-7 years of experience in Power Plant
    • Practical and technical experience.
    • Knowledge of the Boilers, Turbines DM Plant, Coal Handling Plant, Ash Handling Plant
    • Experience in Engineering and Troubleshooting in Power Plant Operation and Maintenance
    • Knowledge of Spare Management
    • Good Communication Skills
    • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
    • Managing one's own time and the time of others.
    • Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
    • Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

    Laboratory Technician

    Job Description

    • The Laboratory Technician will work within the Laboratory Department and report to the Laboratory Processing Supervisor.
    • The Laboratory Technician will assist the Lab Manager by carrying out day-to-day tasks. It is expected that you will learn and be able to perform all tasks within the laboratory area.

    Job Duties

    • Preparing for production by reviewing the production schedule; studying and clarifying specifications; calculating requirements; assembling and weighing plant materials and supplies for extraction.
    • Operating highly sophisticated extraction equipment; Processing concentrates and extracts
    • Cleaning and maintaining extraction equipment and laboratory facility following current good manufacturing practices, and standard operating procedures; complying with legal regulations; monitoring environment.
    • Operating, maintaining, adjusting, and repairing laboratory equipment such as extraction vessels, heaters/chillers, ovens, balances, vacuum pumps, and other laboratory equipment.
    • Following procedures for extract purification including ethanol addition, winterization, filtration, rotary evaporation, decarboxylation, and distillation.
    • Assisting with the development of further purification processes and in-process materials, including processes for new products.
    • Maintaining inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment, and preparing requisitions as needed, maintaining inventory within state-issued cannabis inventory software.
    • Storing supplies and equipment, disposing of waste according to state guidelines, and keeping laboratory, storerooms and working areas immaculate.
    • Washing and sanitizing laboratory glassware.
    • Performing clerical work related to laboratory activities such as word processing, record keeping, and filing.
    • Maintaining strict inventory records of all plant materials, chemicals and equipment used in the laboratory and documents production by completing forms, reports, logs and batch records
    • Maintaining material safety data sheets for all department chemicals and products.
    • Performing related duties as assigned

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Relevant Degree with 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory or manufacturing setting preferred
    • 1-2 years of experience with Supercritical Extraction is highly preferred

    Job Skills:

    • Knowledge of and hands-on experience with Supercritical Extraction and Rotary Evaporation desired
    • Mechanical inclination with the ability to monitor, maintain and troubleshoot/repair laboratory equipment
    • Ability to keep precise, highly detailed, and accurate records of calculations, procedures, and inventory of equipment, chemicals, consumables, and production
    • Knowledge of scientific laboratory procedures and techniques as used in a chemistry laboratory
    • Knowledge of scientific laboratory equipment and apparatus
    • Knowledge of scientific methods of measurements
    • Proper and safe handling and disposal of harmful chemicals, substances, and hazardous wastes
    • Capabilities with computer systems, software, and hardware common to laboratories recordkeeping procedures
