    Section Head, Mechanical Mtce

    Job Summary:

    The Section Head of Mechanical Maintenance is responsible for overseeing and managing all mechanical maintenance activities within the organization.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensures the Optimal Performance of all Mechanical Assets in Egbin Power Plc
    • Responsible for Predictive, Preventive, and Corrective Maintenance of the 220MW Steam Turbine Generators, Boilers, Auxiliaries, and Balance of Plant.
    • Coordinate the Implementation of Continuous Improvement of Maintenance Activities to Ensure Asset Availability and Reliability.
    • Ensure the Mechanical Department Meets the Required Preventive Maintenance, Condition Monitoring, and Corrective Maintenance Targets.
    • Oversee Maintenance Activities of the Mechanical Department and Resolve Challenges as it Arises.
    • Evaluates Maintenance Efforts and Impacts on Reliability and Availability of Assets
    • Performance Evaluation of Team Members.
    • Implement Reliability Centered Maintenance on the Steam Turbines, Boilers, Heaters, Pumps, and other Auxiliaries.
    • Responsible for Planning, Scheduling, Execution, and Supervision of Maintenance Activities
    • Coordinates Maintenance Activities to Ensure Assets are Delivered Within Schedule, Scope, and Cost
    • Responsible for Risk Assessment and Risk Management of the Mechanical Asset Groups
    • Compile Data and Reports Generated by Team Members and Generate Sections and Departments Reports
    • Supervision of Generation, Assignment, Scheduling, and Execution of Work Orders in the Department
    • Ensures Strict Adherence to QHSE Specifications in the Department.
    • Responsible for Resources (Spares, Tools, Men) Planning in the Department.
    • Ensure Effective Maintenance Management in the Enterprise Asset Management System (IBM Maximo)
    • Coordinate Routine Review of SOPs, Work Instructions, and Preventive Maintenance Check Sheets in the Different Sections of the Department.
    • Supervise the Generation and Review of Work Packages for Annual Inspections and Overhauls.
    • Perform Other Tasks That the Head of the Department may assign.

    Education and Work Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Production Engineering or other Relevant Engineering Degrees
    • Membership in Relevant Professional Bodies (NATE, NSE, COREN, NiMechE) is Compulsory
    • Minimum of Fifteen (15) Years of Relevant Work Experience with a Minimum of Ten (10) Years in a Supervisory Roles including Leading Teams and Units.
    • Knowledge of Management Systems, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018
    • Knowledge of Project Management and Risk Management.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Sound understanding of turbine and boiler operations and the various aspects of boiler equipment.
    • In-depth understanding and usage of plant equipment.
    • Sound knowledge of technical troubleshooting.
    • Sound knowledge of gas power plant processes.
    • A clear understanding of the statutory requirements of the equipment.
    • Good knowledge of suppliers of materials and services.
    • Excellent leadership skills.
    • Good project management skills.
    • Knowledge of industry operating procedures for the maintenance of turbines, boilers, etc.

    Lead Engineer Boiler Field Instrumentation

    Job Summary

    The Lead Engineer Boiler Field Instrumentation is responsible for all preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance of Boiler field instrumentation.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensure adherence to preventive/breakdown/corrective maintenance schedule.
    • Develop and improve preventive/breakdown/corrective maintenance culture.
    • Ensures/assigns all preventive/breakdown/corrective maintenance is duly carried out and documented.
    • Review weekly all breakdown/corrective maintenance processes.
    • Liaise with Lead Engineer Boiler controls to re-assess equipment breakdowns for preventive maintenance schedule.
    • Monitor and ensure the closure of Trouble Memo's on CMMS.
    • Addresses issues bordering on human resources and personnel issues and escalate it upward if not addressed or for further action where necessary.
    • Ensures all monthly reports are duly done and submitted.
    • Ensures all special reports are duly done and documented.
    • Periodically assess all staff under him for training needs for optimal performance.
    • Ensures availability of materials and tools required for the job.
    • Supervise control systems and instruments with a focus on both efficiency and environmental sustainability.
    • Ensures HSE guidelines are adhered to strictly during and on the job.
    • Develop Plant Patrol and monitoring check sheet to be reviewed periodically as determined.
    • Provide support in spare parts planning, budget planning, purchase, and inspection activities.
    • Execute documentation according to IMS standards.
    • Implement strategies that improve performance and reliability.
    • Ensures all risk registers for breakdown/corrective maintenance and the section are kept and reviewed periodically.
    • Perform covering role in the absence of the Unit Head, Boiler Systems.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by other Unit Heads/Head of Section/ Head of Department.

    Education and Work Experience

    • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Computer/Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical or Systems Engineering or other related engineering field. 
    • Minimum of 5 ~ 10 years of work experience with at least 3 years at a supervisory level and direct exposure to I&C systems and power plant maintenance processes.
    • Postgraduate/relevant professional qualification.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Technical Knowledge of Instrumentation & Control Systems for Boilers and auxiliaries.
    • Good knowledge of standard operating procedures for I &C maintenance of Boiler/Turbine generators and auxiliaries.
    • Sound understanding of the working and history of turbine generators and auxiliaries.
    • Technical troubleshooting skills
    • Sound knowledge of safety requirements.
    • Good knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems.
    • Knowledge of the power generation process.
    • Effective communication and reporting skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.
