    Operations Manager - LOS HUB

    Reporting to General Manager
    Business Unit – General Management

    Role Context

    • Responsible for the overall management of the operations at the Lagos Hub, executing policies and procedures necessary for the handling of the dedicated network and Commercial flights and to manage the physical handling of shipments in a safe and expedited manner to ensure that service quality is achieved in agreement with SSA Operational functional direction.
    • To provide direction and leadership to LOS Hub Operations Team and develop a motivated, professional, and highly trained workforce.
    • The job holder is also required to develop long term business objectives focusing on costs, service, facilities, support resources and personnel.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage and coordinate Hub operational activities to ensure the safe, timely and cost-effective processing of express parcels and freight.
    • Implement and direct quality control programmes for all operational areas.
    • Drive improvement of operational processes, facility, and capability through standardizing work methods to maximize productivity
    • Direct and ensure compliance with established DHL corporate, Global Airside safety and standards as well as local regulatory policies and guidelines respectively.
    • Establish and maintain a reporting system for all Hub warehouse operations regarding volume, damages, safety incidents, productivity, etc.
    • Manage the allocation of appropriate resources and commitment of staff to the achievement of Global and Regional objectives and targets.
    • Identify training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department.
    • Manage the profitability and growth of the organization’s operations within the Hub.
    • Providing strategic support to the ACS business in the Clusters
    • Communicate with relevant units and government agencies such as Network Control Group, Security, Country Operations, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Nigeria Customs, and Immigration Services respectively to ensure efficient and safe operation at the Hub.
    • Take necessary action to ensure the optimization of operations process flow, maintenance of facility and equipment to meet business and customer’s needs.
    • Work with the respective Ground Handling Agents to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained and that all Airside processes meet operational service standards and Global SOP 
    • Ensure that DHL aircraft are handled in accordance to the Global SOP local regulatory and DHL Airside safety regulations and standards are observed and maintained at all times
    • Manage the allocation of appropriate resources and commitment of staff to the achievement of Global and Regional objectives and targets.
    • Identify training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department.
    • Contribute to the overall strategic direction and management of the Country Operations PLUS the Cluster & sub-regional operational strategy (short and long term) and policies within overall regional DHL context, in terms of door-to-door profitability, service quality and cost performance
    • Managing Fleet and infrastructures to ensure optimum output and prevent interruptions to HUB operations.
    • Maintaining compliance to Security and safety procedures of shipments and personnel at stations serviced from LOS Hub.
    • Promoting service quality improvement through sustainable ‘Achieving Result without compromising respect’ approach.
    • Always Encouraging Employee engagement
    • Promoting adequate coaching and training of team for sustainable career development, identifying Talents and succession planning
    • Identifying and implementing projects within LOS Hub and other Gateways and facilities serviced by LOS Hub when necessary.
    • Actively involved in promoting and managing the DHL brand.

    Minimum Requirements
    Educational Qualification:

    • University degree or its equivalent
    • Good knowledge of Customs operation
    • Knowledge of Aviation industry
    • Good understanding of Aviation and Express operations applications and Tools.

    Experience & Knowledge:

    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Express /   Logistics industry
    • Proven track record of managing key operational processes
    • Strong communication (oral and written) skills
    • Ability to plan, organize, control, and manage risks
    • Ability to work well under pressure
    • Good knowledge of airside operations and standards.
    • Management experience of large teams
    • Good negotiation skills.

    NCG Lead Agent

    Reporting to NCG Supervisor
    Business Unit – Operations

    Role Context

    • Lead a team of NCG Agents to ensure that flight alerts, pre-alerts and paperwork for Movements and MAWB are executed promptly and in compliance with Global SOP and airline requirements.
    • Follow up on non-compliant shipments and coordinate exception handling at the Lagos Hub and in compliance with network standards.
    • Respond to all network trace requests and enquiries in a timely and professional manner.
    • To ensure that service, cost, safety and legal requirements are maintained on a day-to-day basis.
    • Improving on shipment visibility by ensuring all appropriate checkpoints and standard remarks are done in line with GSOP standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Daily planning and closure of movements on OCNT.
    • Monitor and track inbound network data to ensure it is received in time for sort operation.
    • Monitor and action network traces, queries and service incidents, local or international, to ensure smooth transition of materials.
    • To monitor, update, compile and submit daily Global Hub Executive reports to provide the network with an overall review of the previous 24 hours operation at the Hub. 
    • Update HUB systems (OCNT/OPMS/CALMS) to ensure all required transmissions are sent and received on time. Also ensure all necessary data is entered accurately in a timely fashion to allow sorting/scanning to take place smoothly.
    • To monitor the handling of Off-Net shipments and ensure uplift.
    • Control the communication and processing of non-conforming shipments received at the LOS Hub (damaged shipment, undeclared DG, overweight or oversized shipments etc.).
    • Provide instructions to Ops on network requests on exception handling such as RTO, Service Change etc.
    • Action all GEMA or Email traces and queries for LOS Hub.
    • To ensure full compliance to Network Operating Standards and all GSOP procedures associated to the LOS Hub NCG Department.
    • To monitor, update, compile and distribute daily NCG reports to submit an overall review of the previous 24 hours operation. 
    • To ensure all DHL Network, country and customer inquiries, special requests, traces and service incidents are resolved in a timely and pro-active manner.
    • Ensure all shipments in the Lost & Found cage are processed as per ISO and DHL Global SOP.
    • Ensure all damaged shipments are processed and alerted as per ISO and DHL procedures.
    • Send service updates in a timely fashion, to ensure timely movement of materials.
    • Liaising and communicating with other departments to ensure the passing of information about flight changes or problems.
    • Ensure commercial booking process and recovery is followed and CALMS updated in timely manner and with accurate information.

    Minimum Requirements
    Educational Qualification:

    • B.Sc or equivalent in any discipline
    • In-depth knowledge of aircraft characteristics and limitations
    • Aviation Standard Operating Procedures and all Network Standard Requirements.

    Experience & Knowledge:

    • At least 3 years operational knowledge gained in various DHL departments or Airline experience.
