    Medical Doctor

    Main Purpose

    • Using Patient-Centered-Care framework to provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients / beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients / beneficiary’s health conditions.

    Job Description

    • Apply medical knowledge and skills to prevent, diagnose and treat medical conditions using patient centered care approach.
    • Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols.
    • Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
    • Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits , consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following MSF protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors- and informing their family about the patient’s evolution.
    • Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
    • Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patients illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.
    • Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care.
    • Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. Ensuresprofessionalconfidentialityisrespected.
    • Manage the team under his/her direct responsibility according to MSF HR policies and procedures, supervising their performance, organizing and scheduling shifts and rotations, directly participating in emergencies and on calls if necessary.
    • Active participation in the weekly presentations of medical topics for continous medical education
    • Active participation in the mortality reveiws and case presentations.
    • Ensuring knowledge of updated MSF protocols, policies and guidelines
    • Active participation in other project activities and meetings.
    • Participate in on-job medical and other medical related trainings.
    • Follows the referral procedure, adhering to MSF referral guidelines, and validating all referrals with the medical activity manager
    • Participate in the morning medical meeting and ensure handover is done before leaving the service.
    • Ensure investigation results are followed up in a timely manner.
    • Participate to the development of reforms in working strategies.

    Requirements
    Education:

    • Medical Doctor Diploma; Desirable diploma in Tropical Medicine

    Experience:

    • 2 years experience minimum as a Medical Doctor/General practitioner in clinical work (consultations, admissions, ward rounds, lab tests request and results interpretation).
    • Desirable in tropical medicine, experience in pediatrics (Triage, Resuscitation, ICU, IPD, SAM, Infectious Diseases).

    Languages:

    • English and Hausa.

    Knowledge:

    • Essential computer literacy (word, excel)

    Nursing Team Supervisor

    Main Purpose

    • Plan, organize, and evaluate the activities concerning nursing and the team associated, according to MSF values, policies and protocols and universal health standards, in order to warrant the quality and continuity of the health care and the development of the plan of action. 

    Job Description

    • Carry out the functions and tasks associated to nursing i.e. perform as a nurse or anesthetist, whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience. 
    • Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures, and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her speciality.
    • Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
    • Carry out and/or supervise the (decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.)in his or her department, in order to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Ensure that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Reportinganymalfunction to the projectbiomedical service.
    • Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-taking.
    • Give feedback/ reports to medical focal point.

    Patient Care Practices:

    • Supervise all nursing activities in units (Yellow, Orange, ER, ICU, Isolation, Observation, Dressing Room) and support external activities when needed
    • Ensure understanding and following of specific triaging instructions form the medical team 
    • Ensure, clarify and adhere to treatment plan for patients from the time of admittance, and ensure strict documentation from the nursing team and the attending doctors
    • Ensure medical confidentiality is respected by all nursing staff
    • Safeguard standards of hygiene and infection control including accidental blood exposure, including in BioMed equipment maintenance and usage
    • Remain alert on epidemiological issues, and escalate any potential contagion 
    • Mentor and support self and nursing staff on care techniques, medication, dosage, hygiene and safety principles, and more, to constantly improve quality of care in Gwange.

    Requirements

    • Educational Qualification: Speciality (Nurse or Anesthetist) diploma essential
    • Experience: Essential 2 years of previous experience. Having worked in MSF or other NGO’s and in developing countries is desirable. 
    • Knowledge: Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet).

    Midwife Supervisor

    Main Purpose

    • Supervising the clinical activities and guaranteeing the quality of midwifery care in the department according to MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to provide a high-quality Mother and Child Health (MCH) care to the population.

    • Ensure proper referral linkage of SRH, SGBV & SAC Cases from PHCs, TBAs, & CHW
    • Collaborate in data collection with PHCs staffs by ensuring accuracy & reliability of data completeness Provide quality care for victims of all sexual violence cases
    • Anticipate and detect danger signs from pregnant women and newborns and propose solutions to medical doctors, MWAM/MAM and PMR.
    • Ensure the availability of BEMONC guidelines & implementation of SRH, SGBV and SAC activities at Hospital & PHCs
    • Coordinate, plan and train Community MWs and PHCs focal points on SRH and SGBV case management according to MSF protocol
    • Monitor the availability of drugs, inventory and requests Coordinate, organize and follow up trainings on capacity building
    • Review meetings for supported PHCs staffs, TBAs and CHW on SRH & SGBV Activities
    • Ensure availability of needed medical materials, equipment, drugs and manpower
    • Monitor inventory protocols for medication, expired drugs, availability, IPC Protocols and implementation
    • Ensure linkage of all SGBV cases with MH
    • Establish referral pathway of SGBV and SRH cases from PHCCsc and communities
    • Document all referral slips form and coordinate administrative processes (exit-paper, transfer-paper, referral notes, etc.

    Midwife

    Main Purpose

    • Provide obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies, doing follow up before, during and after delivery, according to MSF obstetrical and reproductive health protocols, universal hygienic and newborn caring standards and under supervision of a specialist doctor, in order to ensure their health conditions and avoid post-delivery complications..

    Job Description

    • Ensure the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, obstetrical care (BEMONC 1 and CEMONC 2), neonatal and comprehensive abortion care, management of victims of sexual violence, reproductive tract infections and Fistula care in accordance with MSF Reproductive Care Package.
    • Collaborating with the medical doctor and /or nurse in the management of Sexual Violence cases
    • Assessing the feasibility for referral of pregnant women form the TBAs to the OPD/MCH.
    • Ensuring hygiene and sterilization criteria (including universal precautions) are met according to MSF specifications.
    • Performing cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment used. Following the user manual and protocols and alert supervisor in case of malfunctioning.
    • Guaranteeing a regular and ongoing supply of drugs and equipment required for maternity activities (including monitoring/consumption control/ordering of orders.
    • Ensuring patients' right to privacy and confidentiality is respected Supervising administrative procedures of admissions and hospitalizations
    • According to MSF protocols in force, Manage obstetric emergencies.
    • Supervises the use of drugs, facilities and obstetric material Provide quality of care for OPD and in patient management, proper health education and collaborate with other department.
    • Manage all obstatrical emergency cases according to protocol.
    • Conduct normal deliveries independently Ensure daily data quality on ANC, admission, delivery, PNC, family planning, OPD & discharge registration, proper documentation of referral cases and strengthen linkage of case MH

    Requirements

    • Education: Essential- General Nursing & Midwifery Certificate.
    • Experience: Desirable: Work experience of at least two (2) years in midwife activities related jobs, MSF Experience
    • Essential-General Nursing & Midwifery Certificate.
    • Language: English and Hausa Language mandatory
    • Knowledge: Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet);
