Lead Security Instructor at WatchGuard Group Limited

Location: Lagos, Mainland

WatchGuard Group Limited is a leading Safety, Personal and Asset Protection Company delivering integrated security, loss prevention, and risk management solutions across Nigeria. 

We are seeking a highly experience and passionate Lead Security Instructor to lead the training, induction, orientation and continuous development of our security personnel. The ideal candidate must possess extensive experience within the private security industry and have a strong ability to transfer knowledge, build discipline and develop highly competent security officers 

Key Responsibilities 

Training & Development 

1. Design, develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for newly recruited and existing security personnel 
2. Conduct induction and orientation programs for all newly employed guards before deployment 
3. Develop training curricula, lesson plans, presentations, practical exercises and assessment materials 
4. Deliver classroom and field-based training covering: 
5. Guarding operations
6. Access control 
7. Patrol procedures 
8. Incident reporting 
9. Customer service 
10. Emergency response 
11. Fire prevention and firefighting
12. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
13. Conflict management 
14. Security ethics and professionalism 
15. Communication and radio procedures 
16. Observation and reporting techniques 
17. Executive protection fundamentals 

Standards & Compliance 

1. Ensure all guards meet the Company’s operational and professional standards before deployment 
2. Conduct competency assessments and recommend certification for successful trainees
3. Identify knowledge and performance gaps and develop refresher training programs 
4. Maintain training records, attendance registers, assessment reports and certification records 
5. Ensure training programs comply with industry regulations and Company policies

Operational Support

1. Conduct periodic field visits to evaluate guards’ performance and reinforce training 
2. Recommend operational improvements based on observations from deployed personnel 
3. Participate in incident investigations where additional training interventions are required 
4. Support operations in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and post instructions 

Leadership 

1.  mentor and coach guards, supervisors and patrol personnel 
2. Promote discipline, professionalism, integrity and excellent customer service among security personnel 
3. Foster a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence 
4. Collaborate with Operations, HR and Management on workforce development initiatives 

Academy & Commercial Training

1. Support the development of Watchguards’s training programs for corporate clients and external participants 
2. Facilitate security awareness sessions, fire safety training, workplace security programs and other specialized courses 
3. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Company’s training offerings and instructional materials 

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Security Management, Criminology, Law, Military Science, Psychology or a related field 
2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the private security industry 
3. At least 3 years’ experience delivering training or supervising security personnel
4. Demonstrated experience in guard induction, orientation and operational training 
5. Experience in developing training materials and conducting practical assessments
