    SQL Support Engineer

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Owning, tracking, and resolving SQL-related incidents and requests.
    • Writing SQL queries to resolve issues
    • Assisting developers in optimizing SQL code and stored procedures to ensure optimal SQL Server performance. Develop SSIS Packages and SSRS Reports.
    • Reviewing service-related reports (database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service-related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs.
    • Responding to database-related alerts and escalations and working with database engineering to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems.
    • Initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.
    • Continued self-development in order to understand the latest database advancements.
    • Required to attend mandatory meetings and training, work scheduled overtime with minimal notice, and perform other duties as assigned per business needs.

    Experience / Requirements: 

    • Experience providing end-user technical support working with Microsoft SQL Server.
    • Experience or training in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler, and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Sentry One;
    • Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space, and other resource contention;
    • Working knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands;
    • Working knowledge of indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching;
    • SQL Development – ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints). Ability to write SSIS packages and convert queries in SSRS Reports;
    • Ability to work with Infrastructure and Virtualization staff on the performance of Hardware and Virtual component across CPU, Memory, and backend Storage environments to provide optimum Hardware and Operating Systems selection;
    • Solid acquaintance with windows server, security delegation, SPNs, storage components;
    • Documentation skills for processes and procedures;
    • SQL Database Operational support to technical users;

    • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

    Server/IT Infrastructure Support

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Maintain and update servers and operating Central IT’s core infrastructure, both physical and virtual.
    • Identify and resolve potential problems and determine procedural solutions. Install and repair data center equipment, work with vendors as required, and provide on-call support on a rotating schedule.
    • Communicate with staff on best approaches to resolve problems or improve efficiency. Aide team members in creating high-quality, well-maintained infrastructure.
    • Assist other teams with server security and protocol requirements.
    • Create technical documents detailing defined procedures.

    Education/Requirement:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information system management, information technology or related field, OR
    • Demonstrated understanding of various operating systems, such as Windows and Linux
    • Familiar with configuration management, networks, and upgrading hardware and software
    • Able to program scripts to run internal functions and have sufficient Unix knowledge
    • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
    • Experience with Storage: SAN, NFS, Volume Groups, Arrays, etc.
    • Well-versed using VMWare, creating/maintaining VM’s, VLANS
    • Practice strong documentation skills
    • Experience leveraging monitoring and logging systems
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Proactive
    • Ability to work well in a team structured environment
