Roles and Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB) supporting production payment and merchant systems.
• Monitor database performance, tune queries, indexes, and configurations to sustain low-latency transaction processing.
• Design and implement backup, restore, and disaster-recovery procedures, and regularly test recovery to meet RPO/RTO targets.
• Manage database security, access controls, and encryption in line with PCI-DSS, NDPR, and internal information-security policies.
• Maintain database documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
• Support audits and compliance reviews by providing evidence of database controls, access logs, and change history.
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of all information accessed or obtained during the execution of your Job function. This includes refraining from disclosing confidential information to unauthorized individuals and ensuring that data is only accessed for legitimate business purposes.
• Promptly report any suspected or actual data breaches, security incidents, or unauthorized access to data to the company’s data protection officer. Timely reporting enables the organization to assess and mitigate the impact of breaches and comply with legal obligations regarding data breach notification.
• Comply with the provisions of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act (MLPA), Terrorism (Prevention) Act (TPA), and Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Regulations and Zest AML CFT CPF Policy. 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience administering production databases in a transactional environment (fintech, banking, or e-commerce preferred).
• Strong working knowledge of MySQL; exposure to NoSQL stores such as MongoDB or Redis.
• Solid understanding of backup/recovery, replication, indexing, and query optimization.
• Familiarity with cloud-hosted database services (Huawei RDS, AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure Database, or GCP Cloud SQL).
• Working knowledge of Linux server administration and basic scripting (Bash, Python, or similar).
• Understanding of data security, encryption, and regulatory requirements relevant to payments (PCI-DSS, NDPR).
• Experience supporting high-availability, high-transaction-volume payment or banking systems.
• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Relevant certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Database, Oracle/PostgreSQL certifications).
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.

Key Work Functions / Accountabilities

• Build interfaces that supports real-time monitoring of infrastructure and applications that track the internal state and performance of system using its external data and be able to quickly respond or escalate any observed anomalies.
• Carry out real-time monitoring and analysis of logs, metrics, traces and product related data to generate useful insights. Provide business improvement initiatives through observed trends.
• Work closely with teams across the bank to develop or identify business use cases and promote adoption of observability to improve overall platform reliability.
• Conduct frequent research to determine up-to-date monitoring systems and consequently improve on enterprise systems in ways that align with business goals
• Study technological trends and ensure enterprise systems keep up/stay ahead of identified trends and meet global set standards.
• Engage in continuous professional development to strengthen competencies and improve performance in relation to enterprise observability & availability management
• Explore ways to achieve identified features on current tool or combinations of tools without distortion to existing processes.
• Oversee a mix-technology infrastructure, scrap and collect data from diverse operating environments, and transform it into useful insight.
• Work closely with the SRE engineer to come up with process improvement initiatives from observable performance metrics.

Qualifications

• First degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• A postgraduate degree and/or professional certification in any relevant field is an added advantage.

Experience Level

• A minimum of 3 years cognate experience.
