    Factory HSE Manager-Snacks & Dairies

    What You'll Do

    HSE Strategy, Governance & Compliance

    • Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety and Environmental programmes across the relevant facilities.
    • Ensure strict adherence to established HSE policies, procedures, standards, and operational requirements.
    • Drive compliance with applicable HSE legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
    • Standardise HSE processes and programmes in line with the ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 frameworks.

    Risk Assessment & Incident Management

    • Conduct and coordinate workplace risk assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented and maintained.
    • Identify potential health, safety, and environmental hazards across operations and implement measures to mitigate associated risks.
    • Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
    • Establish root causes of incidents and ensure appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.

    Environmental Management

    • Ensure effective implementation of environmental management programmes across relevant facilities.
    • Enforce procedures for solid waste management and ensure waste disposal practices comply with applicable environmental requirements.
    • Manage procedures for wastewater discharge and ensure compliance with local environmental and regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor environmental practices and identify opportunities to minimise environmental risks and improve sustainability.
    • Ensure environmental incidents, observations, and performance data are appropriately documented and reported.

    Factory Hygiene, GMP & Pest Control

    • Ensure appropriate hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards are maintained across factory operations.
    • Oversee the sanitation of production, storage, and surrounding facilities to support effective and hygienic operating conditions.
    • Ensure timely and effective implementation of factory fumigation programmes.
    • Ensure both in-house and third-party pest control and fumigation programmes are effectively implemented and monitored.
    • Collaborate with relevant operational and quality teams to address hygiene, sanitation, and environmental concerns.

    Emergency Preparedness & Response

    • Ensure emergency response infrastructure, equipment, arrangements, and procedures are current, effective, and adequately maintained.
    • Coordinate the development, review, and implementation of emergency response procedures.
    • Ensure emergency response teams are appropriately trained and prepared to respond to workplace emergencies.
    • Coordinate emergency drills and simulations and identify opportunities to improve emergency preparedness.
    • Ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented following emergency drills and incidents.

    HSE Reporting & Continuous Improvement

    • Collate, analyse, and review relevant HSE reports and performance data periodically.
    • Prepare and communicate HSE performance reports, trends, risks, and recommendations to management.
    • Monitor key HSE performance indicators and drive initiatives to improve safety and environmental performance.
    • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement initiatives to strengthen HSE systems and practices.
    • Maintain accurate records of risk assessments, incidents, inspections, audits, training, and other HSE activities.

    Team Leadership & Capability Development

    • Lead, coach, and develop HSE team members to ensure effective delivery of HSE objectives.
    • Build strong working relationships with managers, supervisors, and employees to promote HSE ownership across the organisation.
    • Implement workforce HSE continuous development strategies across relevant factories.
    • Coordinate HSE awareness, training, and capability-building initiatives for employees and contractors.
    • Promote a proactive safety culture focused on accountability, hazard prevention, and continuous improvement.

    What We're Looking For

    Qualifications

    • BSc or HND in any discipline or HSE-related field 
    • A postgraduate qualification or professional certification in Health, Safety and Environment will be an added advantage.
    • Relevant professional certifications, such as NEBOSH and ISPON, are required.

    Experience

    • Minimum of 5 years' relevant HSE experience, preferably within an FMCG, food, beverage, or manufacturing environment.
    • Proven experience managing HSE programmes and regulatory compliance within a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
    • Proven experience managing and coaching teams and individuals.

    Technical & Leadership Expertise

    • Strong knowledge of occupational health, safety, and environmental management practices.
    • Strong understanding of HSE legislation, regulatory requirements, and manufacturing compliance standards.
    • Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and implement effective risk control measures.
    • Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis capabilities.
    • Good understanding of environmental management, including waste management and wastewater discharge requirements.
    • Strong knowledge of emergency preparedness and response systems.
    • Good understanding of GMP, factory hygiene, sanitation, pest control, and fumigation programmes.

    Maintenance Controller – Snacks

    What You’ll Do

    Maintenance Operations & Team Leadership

    • Lead, coach, and supervise shift maintenance engineers to ensure effective maintenance execution and shift handovers.
    • Plan and allocate daily maintenance activities based on production priorities, available resources, and technical requirements.
    • Oversee maintenance activities across production lines, ensuring adequate coverage to support continuous operations.
    • Monitor team performance, identify training and development needs, and promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
    • Ensure clear communication of maintenance priorities, equipment status, and operational challenges across shifts.

    Maintenance & Reliability

    • Lead the technical response to equipment breakdowns and ensure prompt restoration of production operations.
    • Direct root cause analysis (RCA) of recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programmes in collaboration with the Maintenance System Engineer.
    • Coordinate routine inspection and maintenance of production equipment, including mixers, ovens, conveyors, and packaging lines.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Work closely with the Production Manager to coordinate maintenance activities around production schedules, changeovers, and planned stoppages.
    • Partner with the Maintenance System Engineer to ensure accurate updates of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including work orders, spare parts usage, and equipment history.
    • Provide technical support to Production and Quality teams on equipment-related issues, new product introductions, and process improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate with Engineering and other relevant functions on equipment upgrades, modifications, and maintenance optimisation projects.

    Documentation, Compliance & Safety

    • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with UAC Foods’ food safety, quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and manufacturing standards, including ISO and NAFDAC requirements.
    • Maintain accurate records of breakdowns, preventive maintenance activities, work orders, equipment history, and other maintenance interventions.
    • Ensure maintenance activities are properly documented to support audits, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
    • Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with established maintenance and safety procedures.

    Spares & Cost Management

    • Monitor the availability and utilisation of maintenance consumables and critical spare parts.
    • Work with the Maintenance System Engineer and Procurement team to ensure adequate availability of critical spares.
    • Review spare parts stock levels and recommend appropriate inventory adjustments to minimise the risk of production downtime.
    • Monitor maintenance-related costs, consumables, and overtime to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.

    What We’re Looking For

    Qualifications

    • B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
    • NSE Membership, COREN certification, or CMRP certification will be an added advantage.

    Experience

    • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in industrial maintenance, preferably within an FMCG, food, or beverage manufacturing environment.
    • Proven experience leading and supervising maintenance teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
    • Strong hands-on experience with maintenance and reliability of production and processing equipment.
    • Experience managing maintenance operations across multiple production lines and shifts.

    Technical & Leadership Expertise

    • Strong knowledge of engineering and maintenance practices, including preventive and predictive maintenance.
    • Proven ability to troubleshoot equipment failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
    • Experience with maintenance systems/CMMS and equipment history management.
    • Strong understanding of food safety, quality, health, and safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
    • Good understanding of maintenance cost management, spare parts planning, and inventory control.
    • Strong information management and analytical skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Sound business acumen with the ability to align maintenance activities with production and business objectives.
    • Demonstrates self-confidence, integrity, accountability, and strong stakeholder management skills.
