    Nigeria Data Quality Coordinator

    About the Role

    • Seeking a detail-oriented data professional to own survey design, data quality, and analysis within One Acre Fund's MEL team, working closely with field teams to ensure accurate, timely data that informs program decisions and improves impact for farmers.

    Responsibilities

    Survey Development and Programming

    • Program surveys in CommCare with little support and ensure all data quality controls (display conditions, validation conditions, warning messages) are in place before rollout.
    • Respond to feedback from the field team and improve CommCare surveys based on challenges during survey implementation.
    • Test all surveys before data collection.
    • Stay up-to-date with CommCare features, and ensure surveys incorporate all needed features for maximum efficiency and high data quality.

    Data Quality Management

    • Perform error-checking analysis on all ongoing surveys.
    • Analyze back-check data and communicate results to the field team to help improve data quality.
    • Develop running error trackers and communicate with the field team to understand and correct errors.
    • Communicate error check and back check results to the field team and management to improve data quality.

    KPI, Inventory and Performance Tracking

    • Maintain the MEL team's goals tracker: keep track of survey completion rates, backcheck completion rates, and survey errors and corrections.
    • Use CommCare to calculate KPIs (incl. automation using Zapier), with minimal to no manager support.
    • Produce KPI reports and share with field teams (incl. automation using Zapier), with minimal to no manager support.
    • Keep track of inventory and resolve technical problems with departmental tablets.

    Data Cleaning and Analysis

    • Analyze quantitative summary statistics in Excel and/or Stata and prepare results tables for results communication.
    • Perform qualitative data analysis of focus group and interview transcripts.
    • Create export in CommCare, with no manager support.
    • Manage variable renaming process (incl. renaming variables, as per existing guidance) within Stata, with minimal manager support.

    Training and Mentoring

    • Train enumerators on survey best practices before each survey rollout.
    • Act as a role model and mentor to field supervisors and enumerators.
    • You may be responsible for managing Field Supervisors.

    Qualifications

    Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in data analysis, data cleaning, and data quality management.
    • Knowledge of Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, data visualization).
    • Strong proficiency in statistical software, specifically Stata.
    • Experience with mobile data collection tools like CommCare (including survey design and programming).
    • Familiarity with automation tools like Zapier.
    •  Demonstrated ability to design, program, and deploy surveys and data collection instruments.
    • Strong ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
    • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to create structure out of chaotic workflows and manage multiple data streams.
    • A rigorous approach to data accuracy and quality assurance.
    • Ability to work autonomously, take ownership of projects, and drive them to completion.

    Nigeria MEL Field Coordinator

    About the Role

    • Seeking a results-driven Field Coordinator to lead MEL field operations in Nigeria, ensuring high-quality data collection, strong team coordination, and timely insights that inform program strategy and decision-making. 

    Responsibilities

    • Lead and manage field data collection activities, ensuring adherence to MEL protocols and ethical research standards.
    • Develop and implement data collection plans, ensuring timely execution and quality assurance.
    • Train and supervise field supervisors and enumerators, ensuring they follow data collection guidelines and best practices.
    • Oversee real-time monitoring of field activities, troubleshooting challenges, and ensuring data integrity.
    • Collaborate with the MEL team to refine survey tools, improve methodologies, and integrate stakeholder feedback.
    • Work closely with program teams, partners, and beneficiaries to facilitate effective MEL operations.
    • Provide regular field reports, highlighting key observations, challenges, and recommendations.
    • Ensure transparency and accountability in MEL activities by maintaining clear documentation of processes and decisions.
    • Coordinate logistics for field surveys, including travel, enumerator deployment, and material distribution.
    • Manage field budgets and expenses, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
    • Support procurement and distribution of data collection tools and materials.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Agriculture, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in MEL, field research, or program evaluation.
    • Strong skills in data collection, field coordination, and team management.
    • Experience using digital data collection tools (e.g., ODK, CommCare, SurveyCTO, KoboToolbox).
    • Ability to analyze and interpret data to generate actionable insights.
    • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
    • Willingness to travel frequently to field locations.
