    Mechanical Engineer - Mfamosing

    JOB SUMMARY

    Ensures the efficient coordination of all mechanical maintenance related execution activities in any designated area in the plant.

    MAIN ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES.

    • Responsible for the execution of maintenance work carried out on mechanical equipment in the plant with proper feedback to the Sectional Engineer
    • Develop /follow working methods in his field: defines procedures and ensures that they are implemented
    • Ensures proper planning of work and resources with methods and execution of tasks as assigned in CMMS Or from Mechanical Maintenance Manager and close out same in SAP
    • Supervises the missions and objectives of team assigned to him and carries out their performance reviews, responsible for the quality of the work done at site and motivates his personnel
    • Ensures respect of safety rules and regulation by the subordinates at work areas
    • Review with Planners weekly, monthly and shut down maintenance task according to the production needs.
    • Monitor and review /prepare the spare parts list with the planner 2
    • Responsible for the availability and management of tools required for daily execution of Task as per departmental tools procedure.
    • Participate in critical failure root cause analysis within the plant
    • Follows policies in his day-to-day work
    • Attends departmental meetings regularly, implement management policies with subordinates, and communicates results to the top mechanical Manager.
    •  Keeps himself informed of general plant practices so as to ensure “on-call” duty
    • Ensure the documentation and filing of all Permits, Assessments and Audit related files for tracking and performance indicators.

    PROFILE REQUIRED

    Educational Background & Experience

    • HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years hands-on experience in a process industry.

    Specific Work Experience

    • Pure and in-depth understanding of mechanics of machines.
    • Accuracy in troubleshooting and correction in hydraulic systems.
    • Excellent Engineering drawing interpretation.

    Technical skills 

    • Knowledge of various applicable safety standards
    • Knowledge of relevant plant equipment and flow
    • Knowledge of Critical Path Analysis techniques
    • Knowledge of Failure Root Cause Analysis techniques

    Automation/Instrumentation Technician, Ewekoro

    JOB SUMMARY

    Responsible for routine maintenance of all instruments and automation equipment. Monitor and report spare availability and consumption pattern to avoid nil-stock for all spare parts. Carry out Minor modifications to support the production process and recommend replacement for obsolete spares.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Work with process control systems including programmable logic controllers, sensors and actuators
    • Consult manuals, read and interprete circuit diagrams and schematics for installed instrumentation and automation equipment
    • Repair and adjust system components or remove and replace defective parts
    • Installing control and measurement instruments on existing or new plant equipments
    • Inspect and test operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults using pneumatic, electrical and electronic testing devices and precision measuring instruments
    • Repair and adjust system components such as sensors, transmitters and programmable logic controllers or remove and replace defective parts
    • Maintenance of both analog and digital field instruments such as level, pressure, position, limit, speed, temperature, flow, and weight sensors, actuators and gas analysers
    • Calibrate field instruments such as weigh feeders, beltscales, as well as level pressure, temperature transmitters, and flow meters according to manufacturers specifications or business best practices.
    • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance work and complete pre-start up test and generate maintenance reports
    • Install control and measurement instrument on existing and new plant equipment and processes under the supervision of the automation/ instrumentation engineer
    • Use the SAP to facilitate proper scheduling, planning of work, and execution; respecting safety of equipment and people in the plant
    • Consult with Central Room Operators for diagnosis of field instrument faults to minimize downtime
    • Support the installation, modification, testing and operation of automation and instrumentation systems and generate document reports for tasks carried out
    • Troubleshoot failures with process control system involving electrical and mechanical equipment and instrument
    • Record and report specific electrical energy consumed in all shops accross the plant on a daily basis
    • Carry out regular scheduled inspection of the field instrument and generate report
    • Facilitate communications and relationships:
      • Attends departmental meetings as and when called
      • Supports management policies
      • Communicates results and challenges within the department to the automation/instrumentation engineer

    Process Engineer, Ashaka

    Job Summary

    • To provide technical support to plant operations with the ultimate goal of improving performance, efficiency and long-term profitability
    • Responsible for the development of the necessary system, tools and procedures for plant optimisation and troubleshooting

    Responsibilities

    • Plays a role in safety Health and Environment commitment and demonstrates ownership. Ensure compliance to Holcim, Health and Safety standards and advisories of process department and generally in the plant. 
    • Conducts plant performance evaluation and technical audits with a view to optimising productivity and attaining sustainable process stability.
    • Monitors the process performance of the entire plants on day to day basic and defines corrective actions as well as implement them targeted to achieve desired product.
    • Defines production conditions, process parameters and operating procedures for new or modified installations to achieve the project’s stated objectives
    • Works/liases with experts on related process matters, new technologies and best practises and leads the implementation of selected projects aimed at modifying existing system to make them safer, more efficient and more environmentally friendly
    • Regularly monitors the parameters relating to the plant operation to determine the accuracy of the sensors to guarantee reliable operational data 
    • Carries out process inspections on major equipment to know their internal status, capture, identify correctives and preventive actions for sustainable equipment reliability and follow up implementation.
    • Perform proper field measurements aimed at providing critical data necessary for process characteristics and troubleshooting.
    • Prepare written and oral reports on the work undertaken in a clear and concise manner ensuring data availability to other department.

    Education & Experience

    • Degree in Chemical / Process Engineering 
    • A minimum of 2 years working experience in a cement plant or related industry.
    • Good knowledge of cement manufacturing processes: raw meal preparation to cement storage and despatch.
    • Good knowledge of thermal and mass balances as applied to cement manufacturing process
    • Working knowledge of industrial instrumentation devices.
    • In–depth knowledge of major industrial unit operations and their equipment functions.
    • Understanding all physico-chemical reactions and resultant products applicable to cement manufacturing
    • Good knowledge of thermodynamics and its application to cement manufacturing.
    • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies
    • Good knowledge of Statistical process control methods and experimental design.
    • Good understanding of industrial control loops and operational logics necessary for effective troubleshooting strategies
    • Working understanding of all the Lafarge Operational and Governance Safety Standards and Advisories, be trained (internally) on coal shop safety, Inert gas generator operation and inertization process and with reference to the Emergency Response plan be a First Aider, Fire hydrant operator and be able to perform WAH and CONFINED space rescue.
