    Alignment / Transport Engineer

    Job Description

    • Jamub Group of Companies is seeking a highly experienced Civil Engineer specializing in highway design, including horizontal and vertical alignments for highways and railways. 
    • The ideal candidate will conduct road and rail alignment analysis, design infrastructure solutions, perform risk assessments, and prepare detailed reports to ensure project delivery meets quality, time, and budget expectations.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct topographic surveys and site investigations to gather data for alignment design and the available coordinate system.
    • Develop horizontal and vertical alignments for highways and railways, considering factors such as terrain, traffic flow, and safety requirements.
    • Utilize engineering software for alignment design and analysis.
    • Design geometric elements, including curves, intersections, ramps, Super elevations, and transitions.
    • Ensure adherence to design standards, codes, and regulations related to highway geometry, and Nigerian and European Highway design codes.
    • Optimize designs for smooth traffic flow and enhanced safety.
    • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, such as geotechnical, structural, and Hydraulic engineers, to integrate alignment design with overall project requirements.
    • Work closely with surveyors, environmental experts, and other stakeholders.
    • Carry out and prepare BEME for Highway and Railway designs.
    • Contribute to cost estimation processes by providing input related to alignment design elements.
    • Collaborate with project managers to ensure alignment design aligns with budget constraints.
    • Stay abreast of local, state, and federal regulations and Codes about highway and railway alignment Designs.
    • Ensure designs comply with relevant environmental and safety standards.
    • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
    • Maintain accurate records of design changes, calculations, and project correspondence.
    • Conduct quality assurance reviews of alignment designs to identify and address potential issues.
    • Participate in design reviews and collaborate with senior engineers to enhance design quality.
    • Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing alignment-related queries and ensuring compliance with the approved design.
    • Perform other responsibilities as assigned from time to time.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in civil engineering.
    • Minimum of 7+ years experience in alignment, civil, and infrastructure design, with a strong focus on highway and railway projects. Experience in mid to large-scale highway or railway developments is an added advantage.
    • Possession of relevant engineering license/membership of relevant professional body.
    • Demonstrated experience working for an engineering consultancy within the rail sector.
    • Proficiency in the use of relevant engineering software, tools and equipment to deliver high-quality error-free work.
    • Knowledge of Bentley Rail Track, Bentley Open Rail, Clear Route and Bentley MicroStation software packages.
    • Demonstrate a solid understanding of railway standards and track design experience covering a wide range of interfaces e.g. formation design, interface with structures, stressing designs, drainage designs etc.
    • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
    • Ability to work within tight or varying schedules and deliver within timelines.
    • Ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules.
    • Willingness to travel or relocate in response to project needs.

    Bridge Engineer

    Job Summary

    • The Bridge Engineer will be responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of bridge structures.
    • They will oversee all stages of bridge projects, from initial assessment and planning to final execution and inspection, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
    • 7+ years' experience in Hydraulic Hydrological engineering, civil and infrastructure works, and designs. (Experience working on mid to large-scale highway/railway projects is an added advantage
    • COREN Engineer license is highly desirable.
    • Proven experience in bridge engineering, design, and construction.
    • Strong proficiency in structural analysis software, CAD tools, and MIDAS Civil.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
    • In-depth knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards related to bridge construction.

    Road Construction Technician

    Job Summary

    • We are seeking a highly skilled Road Construction Technician with extensive experience in earthwork, earth-moving equipment, drainage works, and pavement construction. 
    • The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and executing road construction activities, ensuring quality standards, safety compliance, and timely project completion.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee and manage earthmoving operations, including excavation, grading, and compaction, ensuring adherence to project specifications.
    • Evaluate soil conditions and recommend suitable ground stabilization methods for optimal structural integrity.
    • Supervise the execution of cut-and-fill activities, ensuring precision and compliance with engineering requirements.

    • Hands-on experience with earth-moving equipment and construction materials.

    Hydraulic Hydrological Engineer

    Job Summary

    • Our client requires the services of a Principal Hydraulic Hydrological Engineer to handle hydraulic analysis, designs, risk assessments and reports required to deliver projects on quality, time and budget.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct detailed hydrological and hydraulic analysis checks of culvert, side ditches, and bridge construction drawings submitted by the contractor.
    • Review hydrology and hydraulics design report documents of proposed new hydraulic structures such as culverts, side ditches, detention ponds, and bridges.
    • Review design drawings and replies to technical documents prepared by the contractor.
    • Prepare engineering and design documents using computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment
    • Resolve technical queries and interface on issues concerned with design drawings to site assessment and implementations.
    • Review the interaction of rail alignment plan profiles with hydraulic structures and terrain studies using watershed delineation and earthwork construction methodology.
    • Prepare technical comments and approved documents for vetted design/construction drawings prepared by the Contractor.
    • Maintain open communication lines with all partners and managers in line of duty
