Summary:

• We are seeking a skilled staff backend engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our core PHP-based legacy system. You will work alongside our senior engineers to ensure its smooth operation and contribute to ongoing modernisation efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, debug, and maintain backend code in PHP for our legacy system.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and product managers to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and performance of the legacy system.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the establishment of coding standards.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and learn new technologies as needed.
• Assist with the migration of functionalities from the legacy system to our modern microservices architecture.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in backend development with PHP.
• Strong understanding of object-orientated programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, etc.) and writing efficient SQL queries.
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CDpractices. ]
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

While having experience with PHP is not a must for this role, it's nice to have

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) is a plus.
• Familiarity with modern web development frameworks (e.g., TypeScript, ASP.NET Core) is a plus.
