Review work orders and discuss work with the Reception Engineer/Workshop Manager
Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicle, and test automotive systems and components using to diagnose and isolate faults
Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling system, electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment.
Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's performance specifications
Perform scheduled maintenance service
Advise drivers on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements.
Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems including chassis, frame, cab, body, engine and drive train, air brakes, steering, and fuel, hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems
Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems including structural, and brakes.
Practical hands-on knowledge of the following areas: engine and fuel systems, transmission systems, air conditioning, cooling and heating systems, steering, alignment, brakes, drive lines, suspension, electrical and electronic systems, truck-trailer repair or diagnostic services.
Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions
Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit.
Repair or replace mechanical units or components using hand and power tools
Requirements
Senior Secondary School Certificate, Trade Test Certificate or Ordinary National Diploma or its equivalent in Automotive/ Heavy Duty Engineering or related discipline from a government recognized institution. Minimum of two (5) years relevant work experience.
Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred
Manage the daily operations of the maintenance department ensuring compliance, safety, and best practices for corrective and preventative maintenance procedures are followed including accurate completion of the preventative maintenance program
Ensuring that notifications for repairs are created with the correct notification type.
Creating maintenance orders.
Establish, implement, train, and monitor maintenance guidelines for the maintenance teams, including safety on the job and preventative maintenance.
Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures
Raising reservations for spare parts issuance for all maintenance workshop.
Equipment transfer from one business unit to another and other trucks moving from plant to plant.
Ensure that all maintenance items are kept in a safe area to prevent injuries to residents, associates, and visitors
Liaising with stores to ensure that SAP stock balance tallies with physical stock in the stores.
Ensuring that spares are issued on SAP with the appropriate material codes.
Closing of maintenance orders monthly to allow for account settlement.
Supervise Creation to code trucks and commissioning new trucks on SAP.
Requirements
HND/B.Sc. (Engineering, Computer Science or any related field of study) with 5 years of cognate work experience.
