    Director of Administration and Finance

    About the Opportunity

    • Connexus is seeking experienced candidates for the position of Director of Administration & Finance (DAF) for the anticipated USAID/Nigeria Value Chain Activity. The DAF will be responsible for several key financial, administrative, and reporting functions for the Activity, including budgeting, planning, and forecasting; financial and regulatory reporting; internal controls and risk management; and compliance with Connexus and USAID policies and regulations. Note: this is a preliminary position description and may be clarified further after solicitation release.

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Lead and manage all daily accounting, finance, operations, and logistics for the project’s field office.
    • Assist with initial set-up and implementation of accounting and operations systems during project start-up and manage accounting and operations systems during close-out at the project’s conclusion.
    • Oversee project office operations and facilities; supervise accounting, administrative, and support personnel.
    • Prepare financial statements for the project on an as-needed basis (monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, annually).
    • Ensure project office compliance with USAID rules and regulations and Connexus policies.
    • Analyze Activity projections and reconcile with actual spending.
    • Oversee payroll and ensure compliance with local Nigerian rules and regulations.
    • Maintain the Activity’s financial and administrative records.
    • Oversee financial and administrative aspects of local subcontractors, vendors, and grantees as applicable.
    • Manage and track company equipment at project office, such as computers and vehicles.

    Qualifications
    Required

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field, and at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience managing and implementing accounting and operations systems for multi-faceted development projects.
    • Demonstrated success managing and overseeing accounting and operations for USAID projects.
    • Strong understanding of USAID requirements, policies, and procedures.
    • Demonstrated, excellent written and spoken English skills; knowledge of other languages strongly desired.
    • Prior experience in management positions, preferably for a project of comparable complexity and budget.
    • Authorized to work in Nigeria.

    Preferred:

    • Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field, and a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible work experience in managing and implementing accounting and operations systems for multi-faceted development projects.
    • Knowledge of and prior experience managing accounting software (Quickbooks, Deltek, Costpoint, etc.).

    Staff Accountant

    About the Opportunity

    • We are seeking candidates for the position of Staff Accountant for the anticipated USAID/Nigeria Value Chain Activity. The Staff Accountant will provide accounting, logistical, and financial support to the Activity and its staff. Note: this is a preliminary position description and may be clarified further after solicitation release.

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Maintain and update accounting and financial control systems in accordance with U.S government regulations (expenses are reasonable, allowable, and allocable), and conduct, process, and record transactions appropriately in Deltek Costpoint accounting system.
    • Prepare and scan documents for payment (petty cash or bank), and collect and review invoices for all purchases to ensure consistency with issued purchase orders.
    • Monitor cash advances for travel and local expenses, and prepare receipts for staff upon return from the field.
    • Deposit funds at the bank.
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and submission of monthly funding.
    • Manage purchasing of office supplies and process applications for local purchase contracts.
    • Prepare timely requisitions for international purchases.
    • Retrieve pro-forma invoices for local purchases and negotiate with suppliers and service providers, following Connexus and USAID procedures and respecting the quality / cost ratio.
    • Establish comparisons offers (bid comparisons), and screen suppliers through OFAC and SAM systems.
    • Manage project inventory including assigning identification numbers to equipment, and maintaining and saving inventory reports in the Connexus Google Drive.
    • Work in close collaboration with activity staff for budget and expense planning.
    • Perform other job-related tasks assigned by respective supervisor(s).

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field, and at least 5 years of experience providing accounting support for multi-faceted development projects.
    • Demonstrated experience working in accounting for USAID projects.
    • Knowledge of and prior experience using accounting software (Deltek Costpoint, Quickbooks, etc.)
    • Strong understanding of USAID requirements, policies, and procedures.
    • Demonstrated, excellent written and spoken English skills; knowledge of other languages strongly desired.
    • Authorized to work in Nigeria.

    About the Opportunity

    • Contribute to tracking lessons learned and drafting impact reports to share results with partners and donors.

    Qualifications

    • Master's Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (specialized training in MEL required), and at least 3 years of MEL experience in a development setting, preferably for USAID or another donor-funded project; or bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, business administration, or related field (specialized training in MEL required), and at least 5 years of MEL experience in a development setting, preferably for USAID or another donor-funded project.
    • Demonstrated experience conducting MEL data collection and reporting for USAID-funded projects, especially for agriculture and value chain projects valued above $25 million.
    • Experience supporting the development and implementation of information collection and assessment systems.
    • Demonstrated experience with information databases and relevant software applications (Excel, Access, etc.).
    • Excellent written communication skills, including ability to contribute to high-quality project reports.
    • Fluency in English required and other local languages desired.

    Qualifications

    • Master's Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or related field (specialized training in MEL required), and at least 10 years of MEL experience in a development setting, preferably for USAID or other donor-funded project; or bachelor's degree in economics, business administration, finance, or related field (specialized training in MEL required), and at least 12 years of MEL experience in a development setting, preferably for USAID or another donor-funded project.
    • Experience designing and overseeing MEL data collection and reporting for USAID-funded projects, especially for agriculture and value chain projects valued above $25 million.
    • Proven ability to implement, operationalize, and manage information collection and assessment systems.
    • Proven ability to create and manage information databases using appropriate software applications, such as spreadsheet and database packages (Excel, Access, etc.), statistical software (SPSS, Sphinx, etc.), and geographical tools (Arcview, GPS).
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with public and private sector partners and other stakeholders.
    • Excellent written communication skills, including ability to produce high-quality project reports.
    • Fluency in English required and other local languages desired.

    Administrative Assistant

    About the Opportunity

    • We are are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Administrative Assistant for the anticipated USAID/Nigeria Value Chain Activity.
    • The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing a broad range of administrative support for office tasks, including answering phone calls, scheduling, mailing correspondence, reporting on meetings, organizing meeting notes, and supporting travel logistics, among other tasks.     Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Provide administrative support to ensure smooth office operations, including managing overall office coordination and administrative systems.
    • Coordinate with the Connexus home office project management unit (PMU) on administrative issues to ensure compliance with USAID administrative rules and regulations.
    • Provide administrative support to COP, DCOP, and other senior staff, as needed.
    • Assist in the coordination and preparation of regularly scheduled reports.
    • Liaise with the Connexus home office PMU to support travel arrangements for local staff, local consultants, and international consultants, including booking flights, arranging for in-country transportation, and making hotel reservations, among other support.
    • Provide support to project meetings and events including taking notes, drafting agendas and schedules, supporting logistics coordination, and providing administrative oversight.
    • Perform other duties as assigned and as needed based on the needs of the Value Chain Activity staff.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Administration, Business, Management, or another relevant field with a minimum of 3 - 4 years of professional experience performing similar roles, especially with USAID-funded projects.
    • Knowledge of USAID administrative procedures, policies, and compliance regulations
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Kissflow, Zoom, and other administrative systems and tools, and experience using cloud-based software.
    • Excellent written communication skills, including ability to contribute to high-quality project reports.
    • Fluency in English required and other local languages desired.
    • Must be authorized to work in Nigeria.
