Key Duties and Responsibilities
The primary role of a Senior Discipline Electrical Engineer is to assist the SME (Electrical) in providing high-level expertise and professional advice on the design, construction, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance and end-of-useful-life decision-making of all electrical assets; necessary to maximize overall asset performance, in a safe, profitable and sustainable manner.
The job holder will assist the SME (Electrical) to ensure that all risks associated with the design and operation of electrical assets are identified and permanently maintained at an accepted level, in compliance with the Asset Management Philosophy and Strategy Document for 1.32GW Egbin Power Plant, HSE and relevant referential documents.
The responsibilities include three major areas:
- Engineering Standards
- Plant Integrity
- Technical Assurance
Engineering Standards
- Participate in the development of engineering standards for all electrical equipment
- Participate in ensuring that company engineering standards for electrical assets satisfy the minimum requirements of the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) and other regulatory/statutory agencies
- Participate in continuously updating company engineering standards (electrical category) to adapt to changes in the operating environment and industry and global best practices
- Participate in developing and implementing the framework for the incorporation of new energy in the business such as digitalization and decarbonization
Plant Integrity
- Assist in identifying all Critical Equipment (electrical assets), based on guidelines from the Head, Technical Solutions & Standards, Risk Management, Plant Integrity & Technical Assurance.
- Assist in verifying that the Critical Equipment Register (CER) is in place and updated.
- Participate to ensure that equipment criticality set in the various risk-based processes (RBI, RCM, CE Register) is updated.
- Assist in the development of the Asset Integrity Framework for Egbin Power Plc.
- Participate to develop planned Preventive Maintenance (PMs) for all electrical assets
- Participate in developing a framework for the deployment of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) for electrical assets
Technical Assurance
- Participate in conducting risk assessments (electrical category) associated with anomalies and incidents. Advise on integrity threats.
- Participate in contribute to the establishment of long-term strategic planning and short-term operational planning especially for electrical assets
- Participate in meetings and update meeting action log. Ensure that during AIRT meetings, criticality ratings and priorities for electrical assets allocated to the various integrity issues and their resolution are updated, recovery plans are in place and progressed, and discipline indicators and integrity KPIs are updated.
- Assist in developing executive review for electrical assets, of the affiliate performance on Integrity, focusing on high-level KPIs, major threats and critical action plans. Advise on trends.
- Establish or actively contribute to the establishment of (a) management system(s) that verifies that key asset processes are properly implemented, anomalies recorded and ranked as per their criticality, and remedial measures are progressed until closure, thus providing a positive assurance of integrity.
- Contribute to the establishment of a Management of Change (MoC) process and follow up action plans until change approval
- In close liaison with other SMEs, establish the key measures and indicators that will allow monitoring integrity performance continuously, aligned with the guidelines set.
- Participate in Incident Investigations as may be required
- Monitor the performance of the Asset Integrity management processes by organizing regular reviews and self-audits. These audits shall be based on pre-established protocols being part of the Asset Integrity Verification Process (AIVP).
- Participate in RBI reviews
- Participate in the preparation of Capital and Operating budgets for Inspection.
- Monitor and oversee the execution of overhauls, major repairs, Capital Asset Replacements (CAR), inspection programs and activities.
- Witness and participate in all statutory inspections
- Ensure that Critical Tasks related to Asset Integrity-Process Safety Management (AI-PSM) are undertaken and executed.
- Perform root cause analysis and failure investigation on systems and equipment, as required
- Assist in the coordination of major shutdowns and turn-around activities.
Data Privacy & Protection:
- Implement data protection policies and practices of Egbin Power Plc.
- Ensure compliance with the NDPR and other data protection laws, and data protection policies.
- Undertake Data Protection Impact Assessment as applicable to curb the risk during data processing operations.
QHSE:
- Ensure awareness, understanding and application of QHSE policy and application of departmental objectives
- Ensure awareness of the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 &45001:2018) and the implications of not conforming with the requirements.
- Understand and identify hazards, risks, environmental aspects and Impacts as it is related to their jobs
Education and Competencies
Requirements:
The minimum requirements for the role are:
Core Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years experience in a large-scale (public) power plant or direct OEM experience, at least two of which must have been spent in engineering design.
- Knowledge in the design of HV & LV generators, power transformers, HV & LV switchgear, HV & LV motors, earthing and lighting equipment and building electrical services. Experience in the operation and maintenance of these equipment groups will be an added advantage
- Knowledge of the application of international electrical engineering codes and standards
- Membership in cognate professional associations such as IEEE, IET, etc. will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge in at least three of the following areas: Maintenance, Operation, Design Engineering, Asset Integrity, Technical Assurance, and Quality Management.

The Lead Engineer Boiler Field Instrumentation is responsible for all preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance of Boiler field instrumentation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to preventive/breakdown/corrective maintenance schedule.
- Develop and improve preventive/breakdown/corrective maintenance culture.
- Ensures/assigns all preventive/breakdown/corrective maintenance is duly carried out and documented.
- Review weekly all breakdown/corrective maintenance processes.
- Liaise with Lead Engineer Boiler controls to re-assess equipment breakdowns for preventive maintenance schedule.
- Monitor and ensure the closure of Trouble Memo's on CMMS.
- Addresses issues bordering on human resources and personnel issues and escalate it upward if not addressed or for further action where necessary.
- Ensures all monthly reports are duly done and submitted.
- Ensures all special reports are duly done and documented.
- Periodically assess all staff under him for training needs for optimal performance.
- Ensures availability of materials and tools required for the job.
- Supervise control systems and instruments with a focus on both efficiency and environmental sustainability.
- Ensures HSE guidelines are adhered to strictly during and on the job.
- Develop Plant Patrol and monitoring check sheet to be reviewed periodically as determined.
- Provide support in spare parts planning, budget planning, purchase, and inspection activities.
- Execute documentation according to IMS standards.
- Implement strategies that improve performance and reliability.
- Ensures all risk registers for breakdown/corrective maintenance and the section are kept and reviewed periodically.
- Perform covering role in the absence of the Unit Head, Boiler Systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned by other Unit Heads/Head of Section/ Head of Department.
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Computer/Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical or Systems Engineering or other related engineering field.
- Minimum of 5 ~ 10 years of work experience with at least 3 years at a supervisory level and direct exposure to I&C systems and power plant maintenance processes.
- Postgraduate/relevant professional qualification.
Skills and Competencies
- Technical Knowledge of Instrumentation & Control Systems for Boilers and auxiliaries.
- Good knowledge of standard operating procedures for I &C maintenance of Boiler/Turbine generators and auxiliaries.
- Sound understanding of the working and history of turbine generators and auxiliaries.
- Technical troubleshooting skills
- Sound knowledge of safety requirements.
- Good knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems.
- Knowledge of the power generation process.
- Effective communication and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the daily inspections and maintenance of Turbine/Boiler BOP systems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct Shift Inspection of all turbine/boiler installation ancillary systems.
- Ensure the Turbine BOP units are maintained in a preventive manner to ensure optimum reliability and uptime.
- Troubleshoots turbine malfunctions and diagnose mechanical problems.
- Responsible for repairing malfunctioning equipment such as pumps, motors and other components.
- Ensure all safety rules and safe work procedures are followed by themselves and others working around the Turbine BOPs.
- Routine maintenance of spares to ensure that equipment is available when required.
- Implement data protection policies and practices of Egbin Power Plc.
- Ensure compliance with the NDPR and other data protection laws, and data protection policies.

- Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience in a power generation plant, refinery, or heavy industrial process plant.
- Prior experience in steam turbine operations or thermal power plants is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Good Technical Knowledge of Turbine installations.
- Knowledge of standard operating procedures for maintenance of turbines.
