    Senior Business Intelligence Engineer

    About the Role

    • The Managing Director is responsible for providing overall leadership management and general technical direction of the entire program, ensuring an integrated vision among different components, functions and stakeholders, and a focus on achieving the results defined in the contract.
    • You will be responsible for leading and overseeing the development, delivery and day-to-day management of a high quality, innovative, cost effective and sustainable education program resulting in immediate and lasting change for children and building the capacity of the duty bearers.
    • This is a highly hands-on job, involving intense program management, broad technical knowledge covering financial management, supply chain, government relations and school operations management.
    • For this role, we need someone who has the experience of managing highly complex and large programs with a lean team coupled with a deep passion for programme mission. Leadership, humility and self-awareness are a must to be successful.
    • This is an incredibly fast-paced and absorbing role that will ask a lot of you but it will also be personally rewarding in that you will see the impact of your efforts first hand.

    Responsibilities
    What You Will Do:

    • Act as the senior General Manager for the program, overseeing budgets, strategic and operational delivery and stakeholder management.
    • Lead and manage the program team – providing the vision, day-to-day coordination, resource management, and supervision required to accomplish project objectives and to deliver superior quality products.
    • Be the primary liaison with the designated Ministry of Education, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and elected political champions and his or her representatives, responding to client needs within the limits of the arrangement.
    • Ensure quality control and the overall responsiveness of technical assistance provided, including necessary adjustments to operations to fit the requirements of the programme.
    • Identify issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner, and suggest appropriate program adjustments.
    • Ensure the technical and methodological soundness of activities and, in collaboration with the Collaborate with colleagues to solve problems and build a learning environment within the program team and other function heads of the organization.
    • Responsible for on or under-budget delivery of all aspects of the programme. 

    Requirements
    What You Should Have:

    • Bachelor's Degree essential, MBA (or Master’s) would be preferred.
    • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience working in project management and design in developing countries, preferably including experience in the state or country to which you will be assigned.
    • At least 5 years of management experience, including direct supervision of professional and support staff and assembling teams working in multi-faceted roles including field based roles.
    • A proven track record of excelling in the leadership of operational teams, as well as in design-thinking, process and system design and application, managing complex and inter-related functions, as this will be critical overseeing a large scale school system transformation.
    • Prior experience within a fast-paced, high-growth, metric-driven operational organization will be an advantage.
    • Strong management skills, leadership qualities, professional reputation, ability to build or access key contacts within the Ministry of Education or equivalent local and state regulatory bodies.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government representatives, for-profit private sector entities, local community organizations, donors, consortium members and other stakeholders, at national and sub-national levels.
    • Respect and sensitivity towards cultural, gender, ethnicity and religious diversity.
    • Maturity and confidence in dealing with high ranking officials of government institutions, international institutions and non-government institutions.
    • Demonstrated excellent communications and writing abilities and superior interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
    • Demonstrated hands-on experience in building the Ministry of Education (or other relevant Government entity) and devolved structures capacity in developing and realizing education strategic plans to provide quality Education services is a plus.

    Project Director

    About the Role

    • We are seeking a talented, motivated and adaptable individual to support the Managing Director and the senior leadership team as Project Director. The ideal candidate is a multifaceted individual who will work closely with the Managing Director in a job shadow capacity. 
    • As a co-strategist, implementer, and trusted advisor, the successful candidate will lead execution of strategic initiatives for the Managing Director and leadership team and will also ensure streamlined activities within the organization to improve the daily management of the organization based on the priorities of the Managing Director. 
    • This is a highly hands-on and analytical role, involving intense program management and broad technical knowledge covering financial management, supply chain and school operations management. 
    • The Project Director should have a proven track record of exceptional performance driving strategic initiatives and projects to completion.
    • This role reports to the Managing Director and VP Operations. You will be part of a leadership team composed of various directors. The School Inspection Manager/Director, who in turn supervises a team of field associates, will report to you.

    What You Will Do
    Ensure that the programme’s termly and annual milestones are attained on schedule:

    • Manage & update the programme operational calendar
    • Ensure appropriate follow through on actions, decisions, and commitments made by the Managing Director by working with the parties responsible for implementation
    • Attend functional team meetings to keep a pulse on the business and help connect dots with others across the organization
    • Assess inquiries directed to the Managing Director, determine the proper course of action and delegate to the appropriate individual to manage
    • Assist the Managing Director in facilitating effective decision-making

    Continuously improve the programme’s performance:

    • Coordinate the execution of strategic initiatives
    • Prepare periodic business performance and market analysis, business trends and provide insight with the aim to increase operational efficiency
    • Deliver business planning processes (forecasts, budgets, long-range plans) including analysis of variances with relevant commentary to support management decision making
    • Translate business requirements to technical requirements. This includes using powerful analysis and modeling tools to match strategic business objectives with practical technical solutions
    • Create organizational dashboards and reports to support effective decision making and cross-company communications of business performance status
    • Monitor and review departmental spending vs. budget to ensure optimal spending and ensure funds are directed towards projects that generate the highest return on investment (ROI)

    Ensure that the School Inspection Team (our internal quality assurance team) is driving compliance to school policies and processes at the school level:

    • Oversee the activities of the School Inspection team which is in charge of auditing our school operations (facilities, materials & supplies, personnel and processes) against our set of standards and policies to ensure all schools maintain an environment where teaching and learning thrive.

    What You Should Have

    • A bachelor’s degree from a top-tier university with an excellent academic record. Quantitative undergraduate degrees, and advanced degrees such as an MBA are preferred
    • 5+ years of executive level experience in reputable companies from which you have outstanding records of professional achievement. You should have at least one experience that required highly independent work in an exceedingly challenging environment such as in management consulting, finance or in a start-up
    • Excellent project management skills including being incredibly organized with calendars, gantt charts, trackers, and have the ability to systematically follow up and support senior leaders with their deliverables across a broad set of projects/strategic initiatives
    • Solid functional knowledge, including but not limited to strategy, operations, HR, supply chain, customer experience management, finance, project management
    • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem solving skills. You need to be able to see patterns, be a fast thinker and a good decision maker
    • Advanced MS Excel/spreadsheets skills, and mastery of presentation/reporting tools such as MS Word/Google docs & MS Powerpoint/Google slides
    • Excellent communication skills (writing and speaking), which enable you to communicate complex ideas effectively to people at all levels in the organization
    • Demonstrated leadership ability in a team environment. You should have a proven track record of working strategically and collaboratively with senior leaders across different functional areas
    • Strong willed, a fast learner and able to effect changes fast. You should be able to flourish in dynamic, ambiguous environments, to produce high quality work with very short deadlines, effectively prioritize work among multiple competing demands, and adapt to unexpected work demands.

    Product Operations Specialist

    Job Description
    Product Management Department:

    • The Product Management department is responsible for the design and definition of our entire range of Technology products, from the mobile apps running in our schools to the apps powering our back office teams.
    • The impact of the design and usability of these and other apps is significant - these are core tools that our staff use throughout the day, so every refinement and improvement makes a big difference to our staff - and consequently to the performance of our schools and the effectiveness of our teaching.

    About the Role

    • This role will be part of the Product Management team and our Technology group. Reporting to the Director of Product Management and closely collaborating with our Regional Teams, Software Development, and Product Managers.
    • This role is an extremely valuable part of the product management team and essential for achieving our growth plans.
    • Product Operations serves as the partner for many stakeholders in the organisation, from functional leadership in shared services teams through to our local programme implementation teams.
    • It is focused on making sure products are ready to be rolled out and made available to all of our users, as well as successfully implemented across our schools.
    • In addition to owning operational readiness of the products, this role will support the Director of Product Management in ensuring on-ground implementation of products and processes to support effective, timely, and constructive feedback loops.
    • An exciting opportunity to step into a cross-functional, high impact role that will help us drive improvements in our product roll-outs, driving initiatives to measure performance of existing products, and play a leading role in communication around our products.

    What You Will Do

    • Actively coordinate efforts to ensure operational readiness of our software products.
    • Collaborate closely with regional IT Operations teams to ensure product roll out readiness and play an active role in planning for product rollouts across all countries.
    • Lead development, management, and compliance with roll-out calendars, as well as regular updates and communication around these .
    • Improve roll-out processes through collaboration with local stakeholders as well as delivery teams.
    • Set up feedback loops that contribute to successful development and roll out of the products. This includes user research activities, in-school observations, and user testing.
    • Lead data analysis for product roll-out in programmes, gather qualitative insights, and build processes to share the data with product management teams.
    • Measure product performance - building or identifying the most appropriate tools to measure success and drive the implementation of these tools.

    What We are Looking For

    • 2+ years experience working in operations, project management and/or product operations function.
    • Strong understanding and/or experience of project management process
    • Strong affiliation and/or experience with data analytics.
    • Excellent use of Excel and/or proficiency in using Google Workspace for effective decision making.
    • Ability to develop effective measurement/tracking tools to support business decisions.
    • Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
