    Pharmacy Technician

    Mission Objective

    • The pharmacy unit provides medical support services in pharmacotherapy, critical to achieving the organization’s mission through supplying quality medications, rational medicine usage, and optimizing patients’ treatment outcomes through appropriate counseling.
    • The pharmacy technician complements the duties of the pharmacist in assembling new prescriptions, appropriate dispensing per physician’s order and providing technical support in inventory management, which is vital to ensuring medicines availability in the clinic.
    • In addition, the technician ensures exquisite shelves arrangements on the FEFO basis; and participates in voluntary community health activities.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    Provide General Support
    Purpose:

    • Organize Inspect and validate prescriptions to reduce medication errors.
    • Review, analyze and respond to different situations they encounter daily.
    • Fill medications based on prescriptions to dispense.
    • Assist in stock count on a routine basis and ensure that expiring drugs are noted.
    • Arrange/stack drugs and consumables according to FEFO guidelines. Ensure that minimum stock levels are not exceeded.
    • Bring patients into the dispensing area (when necessary).
    • Keep the dispensing area clean and ensure that dispensing materials are available.
    • Maintain Poison cupboard under Lock and key.
    • Provide assistance in various functions of the Clinic.
    • Document patient and family education.

    Exchange Enagagement:

    • Conduct group responsibilities accurately and on time.
    • Assist in receiving medications into the inventory from partner vendors.
    • Bring patients into the dispensing area (when necessary).

    Present delivery:

    • Conduct group responsibilities accurately and on time.
    • Maintain and update pharmacy checklists regularly.
    • Responsible for reviewing and filing insurance claims to ensure that they are processed accurately; reconciliations and filing itemized receipts and claims for submission to the respective insurance companies.

    Targeted Specialized knowledge
    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform this job:

    • Minimum qualification of Diploma in Pharmacy
    • Minimum of two (2) years progressive experience in Pharmacy within the private and public sector.
    • Experience working with public health and health systems is an advantage.
    • Candidates must be a registered member of Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) with an up-to-date practicing license.

    Locum Doctor

    Mission Objective

    • The clinical services department ensures delivery of high quality medical and laboratory services that are patient centered in order to ensure optimal health and well being for patients achieving the organization’s mission and vision.
    • The Medical Doctor will perform a range of functions including but not limited to; initial history taking, clinical assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care.
    • S/he must demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process, especially in assessing and diagnosing patients, leading to the delivery of safe care for all patients.
    • The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the healthcare team and the Management Team to meet the needs of the patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures.
    • The Medical Doctor will also review and act appropriately on blood results and referrals/correspondence regarding patients.
    • In addition, S/he will be expected to occasionally carry out some home visits to patients registered on the Membership Scheme.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    Purpose:

    • Conduct telemedicine consultations which may involve discussing results and implications of laboratory investigations with patients as well as dealing appropriately with routine and emergency complaints.
    • Determine diagnosis and treatment plans, in consultation with patient(s) or referring to Supervising doctor(s) as appropriate.
    • Conduct and oversee clinical care to patients using established clinical guidelines.
    • Interview patients, take medical histories, perform physical examinations, analyze,determine, diagnose and explain medical problems during surgery consultations and home visits.
    • Participate and oversee all treatment and preventative healthcare services as delegated and agreed upon by the supervising Practice Manager(s).
    • Assist in clinical instruction and supervision of medical and nursing staff as well as other interns/student doctors.

    Enagagement:

    • Provide and explain clinical instructions to the nursing staff and other clinical care teams as required.
    • Communicate when necessary with colleagues in Clinical care and hospital specialists in order to discuss or refer specific patients, plan and coordinate activities, or exchange information.
    • Communicate where necessary with colleagues in Clinical care and hospital specialists to discuss or recommend referring specific patients, plan and coordinate activities, or exchange information to improve the quality of patient care. .
    • Identify and liaise regularly with community hospitals, consultants, and other health care providers, insurance companies, and other community organizations to refer/consult on specific cases, participate in community service and education projects and activities.
    • Recommend direct clinical care to patients using established clinical guidelines. Interview patients, take medical histories, perform physical examinations, analyze, diagnose, and explain medical problems during surgery consultations and home visits.

    Delivery:

    • Fully document all aspects of patient care, reconcile and complete all required paperwork for legal and administrative purposes.
    • Attend regular educational meetings organized by the practice in order to clinical knowledge, practice policy and guidelines timely
    • Contribute to clinical development by developing a special interest and help to establish appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions, ensuring compliance with approved standard treatment guidelines.
    • Support and Sustain clinical research and efforts within the EHA Clinics leading to the publication of papers.

    Targeted Specialized knowledge

    • Degree In Medicine - MBBS, MbChB, MD, DO in any Global, National, or State recognized University and conforming to the guidelines as set out by the Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria.
    • Completion of compulsory internship and a minimum of 2 years post NYSC.
    • Up-to-date registration and license from the MDCN
    • Completion of BLS, ACLS.

    Pharmacist

    Mission Objective

    Duties and Responsibilities
    Purpose:

    • Provide effective medication use and become the people’s trusted ally against health issues that way, you can deliver maximum value to both the pharmacy and society. Review and develop the clinic's pharmacy policies and regulations.
    • Participate in voluntary community health activities to promote, maintain and restore health and prevent diseases. Manage clinical risk.
    • Provide professional advice on cosmetics or para-pharmaceuticals.

    Engagement:

    • Document patient and family education. Develop and implement the teaching plan utilizing the patient education manual. Think critically in adapting to change, judging situations, and taking appropriate decisions.
    • Adhere to EHA Clinics Code of Conduct as well as ethical standards of the field.
    • Interpret symptoms so that the patient can either be given immediate treatment for a trifling condition or be referred to the doctor. Protect patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols. Provide emotional support and measures to alleviate fear and anxiety.
    • Provide pharmaceutical care services which may include, but are not limited to, patient needs assessment, age and disease-specific drug therapy and patient education, care adjustments based on patient response, and clinical interventions to identify, minimize, and avoid adverse drug reactions.

    Delivery:

    • Prepare and dispense medications to patients on physician’s order. Organize the pharmacy in an efficient manner to make the identification of products easier and faster.
    • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of the clinic drug formulary. Records of all drugs, doses, and prices on the automated inventory of the clinic. Review, analyze and respond to different situations encountered daily.
    • Review and execute physician’s prescriptions checking their appropriateness and legality. Maintain full control over delivering, stocking, and labeling medicine and other products. Develop effective medication plans to minimize the risk of adverse side effects.
    • Maintain pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.

    Targeted Specialized Knowledge

    • Minimum qualification of Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy / M.Pharm / PharmD Minimum of two (2) years post NYSC progressive experience in Pharmacy within the private and public sector.
    • Experience working with public health and health systems is an advantage.

    Community Health Nurse

    Mission Objective

    Purpose:

    • Provide emotional support and measures to alleviate fear and anxiety. Assess patient and family readiness and identify learning needs. Participate in voluntary community health activities to promote, maintain and restore health and prevent diseases.
    • Provide basic life support when needed. Document all relevant data in the electronic medical record according Administer medications, monitor desirable and undesirable effects, and intervene appropriately.

    Engagement:

    • Recognize subtle cues to anticipate potential problems.
    • Assess patient and family readiness and identify learning needs.

    Delivery:

    • Administer medications, monitor desirable and undesirable effects, and intervene appropriately. Travel to patients’ homes to deliver care as required. Manage patients with infectious diseases when applicable. Attends to Home care visits when scheduled on-call shift.
    • Perform clerical duties when needed. Ensure that patients are provided with appropriate nutrition. Manage pediatric patients with infectious diseases when applicable.

    Targeted Specialized Knowledge

    • A minimum of Nursing certificate
    • Active membership of Community Based Organizations (CBO)  and/or work within the private health sector is highly desirable. 
    • Must come from the assigned community and must be able to communicate proficiently in appropriate language of the assigned cluster.
    • Hold and maintain a current nursing license to practice in Nigeria.
