    Lead Systems and Mechanical Engineer

    Job Summary

    • We are seeking a Lead Systems and Mechanical Engineer to own the physical architecture of our hardware platforms.
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for the structural design, systems integration, and field reliability of complex platforms operating in demanding environments.
    • This role is the primary bridge between design and advanced manufacturing capability.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Own the mechanical and systems architecture across all hardware platforms from initial concept through to production-ready design
    • Lead design-for-additive-manufacturing from the first sketch, leveraging in-house additive manufacturing capability as a core design tool rather than a retrofit option
    • Drive reliability engineering, ensuring platforms meet the demands of extended operation in harsh and remote environments
    • Manage CAD-to-production workflows and maintain design integrity through the manufacturing process
    • Interface directly with electronics and autonomy leads to ensure seamless integration across subsystems
    • Establish and enforce structural and systems engineering standards across the product team.

    Requirements

    • Senior-level mechanical and systems engineering experience with a track record of products deployed in field conditions
    • Demonstrable expertise in design for additive manufacturing; this is non-negotiable for this role
    • Background in marine, subsea, rugged-environment, or equivalent demanding engineering domains
    • Strong CAD fluency and hands-on experience taking designs from digital model to physical part
    • Experience with corrosion resistance, environmental sealing, and materials selection for harsh environments.

    Preferred Background:

    • Direct experience in marine vessel or subsea system design
    • Familiarity with military or defence engineering standards
    • Experience operating or specifying industrial additive manufacturing equipment.

    Naval Architect

    Overview

    • We are seeking a Naval Architect to own architecture, stability analysis, and hydrodynamic performance across our marine platform portfolio.
    • This role works in close partnership with the Lead Systems and Mechanical Engineer and is critical to ensuring our platforms are not only buildable but seaworthy, stable, and optimised for their operating profiles.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and optimise hull forms for a range of manned, unmanned, and autonomous marine platforms across different size classes and operating profiles
    • Conduct stability, seakeeping, and resistance analysis to validate hull designs against operational requirements
    • Produce technical drawings, calculations, and documentation to support design reviews and regulatory or classification processes
    • Collaborate directly with the systems engineering and mechanical design function to ensure hull architecture is compatible with internal systems integration requirements
    • Advise on materials, construction methods, and manufacturing approaches suited to advanced manufacturing processes
    • Support future certification and type approval processes as the product portfolio matures

    Requirements

    • Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
    • Proven experience designing small-to-medium marine vessels or platforms, including stability and hydrodynamic analysis.
    • Proficiency in naval architecture and hydrodynamic analysis software.
    • Ability to produce complete design packages including lines plans, stability booklets, and construction drawings.
    • Nigerian nationals strongly preferred.

    Preferred Background:

    • Experience with unmanned or autonomous marine platforms.
    • Familiarity with composite or additively manufactured marine structures.
    • Exposure to classification society rules for small vessels or special purpose craft.
