    Head Portfolio Support

    We are scaling our work of partnering early with bold founders building transformative startups across Africa, and to enable this mission; we are looking for a rockstar, who will be primarily responsible for leading VP’s post Investment activities which include; monitoring and evaluation; providing support; curating value-adding tools and partnership for the portfolio; acting as the primary point of contact, and unlocking network value across VP.

    We are scaling our work of partnering early with bold founders building transformative startups across Africa, and to enable this mission; we are looking for a rockstar, who will be primarily responsible for leading VP’s post Investment activities which include; monitoring and evaluation; providing support; curating value-adding tools and partnership for the portfolio; acting as the primary point of contact, and unlocking network value across VP.

    We will rely on you for/to:

    • Post Investment support- consistently evaluate portfolio company performance and needs to determine how best VP can help plug gaps, provide value-add, and leverage our network to support the growth of our startups.

    • Preempt incoming challenges and intervene - Monitor trends, market changes, and regulatory sentiments and triage companies to quickly determine needs and strategic choices.

    • Community building - Support the building of the portfolio founder community to unlock value and improve collaboration.

    • Secure critical partnerships & linkages - Source, onboard, introduce and manage key relationships to support the growth of the Fund’s portfolio companies with corporates and various other service providers.

    • Build capacity and tools to support founders in critical areas - Key areas including; hiring, expansion, growth, and regulatory issues.

    • Internal Reporting - Receive and review portfolio company reporting, provide timely constructive feedback, and maintain portfolio company dashboards that enable internal M&E.

    • Serve as a clearinghouse - Manage the interaction of startups with various VP resources, including team members, mentors, and venture partners.

    Head Fund Operations

    We are scaling our work of partnering early with bold founders building transformative startups across Africa, and to enable this mission; we are looking for a rockstar who will be primarily responsible for managing our core fund administration, compliance, reporting, ESG & finance functions by maintaining records, monitoring activities, and liaising with the management company as well as VP’s finance, HR & Audit Head; service providers; banks and investors.

    We will rely on you to;

    • Coordinate and liaise with fund administrators and other fund service providers - Ensure we stay compliant, operate smoothly, abide by all our commitments, and report as at when due.

    • Lead reporting & record keeping - Review and audit NAV monthly and liaise with various parties (including internal and external finance & audit teams) to prepare financial statements for quarterly and year-end reporting and audit purposes as well as ensure all required LP and regulatory reports are delivered as at when due. Work with the finance and management company teams to review cash flows and operating expenses in line with fund commitments and obligations.

    • Process Improvement- Lead the streamlining of VP’s operating procedures in consultation with partners and other leaders to improve operating efficiencies in the team, and provide an operational risk assessment of our processes with all stakeholders to resolve any issues.

    • ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and Fund Compliance: Lead the funds ESG program and liaise with the corporate compliance team, other team members, partners, and portfolio companies on all ESG and compliance matters for the fund including regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.

    SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

    This role could be perfect for you if you are/have:

    • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in investment operation management or fund administration role

    • Experience with ESG is a plus

    • Entrepreneurial, committed, and able to work under pressure

    • Proven management of investor reporting and communication

    • Experience in supporting fund structuring and set-up would be an advantage

    • A qualified lawyer or accountant (a plus but not a must)

    • A SEC (Security Exchange Commission) or equivalent sponsored individual (a plus but not a must)

    • You enjoy a fast-paced work environment.

    Head Engagement & Community

    We are scaling our work of partnering early with bold founders building transformative startups across Africa, and to enable this mission; we are looking for a rockstar who will be responsible for advising on, designing and implementing all engagement and community building activities and programs for the Fund.

    This role will manage all communication, engagement, messaging, community building, PR, events, tools, assets and activities to support our pre and post-investment efforts and those relevant for pipeline development, portfolio support and core fund operations.

    We will rely on you for:

    • Community building and engagement: You will lead our technology, investor and stakeholder community-building effort, both online and offline, and grow engagement across our website, newsletter, social media handles and other channels.

    • Content, Platforms & Event Development & Management: You will lead our content and event development efforts and drive new initiatives by; creating well-researched written, audio & video content; targeted pipeline and portfolio events [both external and curated in-house] and adopt digital tools & products that serve our various stakeholders, including; founder community, portfolio community, investor community and the general public.

    We would also need you to:

    • Act as spokesperson and manage public relations: You will respond to media and other inbound enquiries and build strong relationships with the press locally and internationally to ensure VP has appropriate media coverage. You will ensure all VP spokespersons are well briefed and run an up-to-date, accessible and fit-for-purpose in-house press office. On occasion, you will also be responsible for sourcing, onboarding and collaborating with external PR agencies.

    • Drive CSR & Impact work: Develop and manage all corporate social responsibility and R&D feedback loop initiatives (Pipeline Development, Policy, Ecosystem Development) programs through the Foundation. Develop a robust public affairs communications strategy, in line with any Government engagement or policy-related work VP is undertaking, acting as a key conduit between various stakeholders and VP.

    • Support portfolio companies and fund operations.

    This role could be perfect for you if you are/have:

    • Passionate about startups.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally across a diverse group of partners and team members.
    • Understand media and content creation deeply and have a demonstrable track record of securing coverage, planning and executing communications plans and delivering impactful content marketing strategies.
    • Able to quickly build trust with other team members as well as entrepreneurs and broader strategic networks.
    • Able to influence at VP’s C-Suite and possibly Board level
    • Deep experience with digital tools, social media platforms and other media tools.
    • Familiar with the press world and understand how to engage with journalists and publications to help us form even more meaningful relationships.
    • Prior experience in a similar role
