    Duties and responsibilities

    • To assist WASH Team Leader in the coordination of the WASH Technical activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets, and plans

    • Assists in the compilation of weekly and monthly WASH Technical reports, program documents, project proposals, and budgets
       Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities
    •  Assist WASH Team Lead in Breaking down the annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plans 12.
    • To assist in ensuring that procurement, development, and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and according to procedures

    Qualifications

    • BSc or Higher diploma in civil,  Water Resources Engineering or Geology(BAC+5) minimum
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience from working with WASH TECHNICAL projects in a humanitarian/recovery context. Experience from working with social work and/or with a distribution of humanitarian assistance is an advantage.
    • Previous 2-3 years of work experience in community-based water, Sanitation programs; Work experience with an NGO is desirable
    • Must have knowledge of emergency Water supply, Hygiene, Sanitation requirements, and protocols
    • Familiarity with international minimum standards of Hygiene, Sanitation, and shelter service delivery (i.e., SPHERE) is an advantage
    • Must have previous experience in training and Training of Trainers.
    • Excellent communication skills – written and spoken – in English required.
    • Fluency in one or more of the national/regional languages (Hausa and Fulani preferred)
    • Must be willing to work as a team member, take direction, and share technical skills with colleagues and counterparts
    • Computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheets is required,
    • Familiarity with AutoCAD, GPS, ArcGIS and Google Earth is strongly desirable Must be able to work under pressure

    • Provides technical assistance to the WASH Team Leader and local counterparts on issues of sanitation and solid waste management and communication strategies
    • Assists in the establishment, and training of community-based Sanitation committees as well as monitoring their performance

    NRC is looking for a WaSH Technical Assistant (Hygiene Promotion) for our field office in Yola, Adamawa State in North-East Nigeria. The purpose of the WaSH Technical Assistant (Hygiene Promotion) is to ensure the Implementation and impact of WaSH program activities in Yola, Adamawa State

    NRC initiated country operations in Nigeria in June 2015, in order to respond to the critical and increasing needs in the country. NRC currently has a full team based in Maiduguri and a coordination office in Abuja. NRC is currently providing services across various sectors namely; Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI); Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (WASH); Food Security; and Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA), Education in order to address identified humanitarian needs.

    The WaSH Technical Assistant reports to the WaSH Team Lead.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Coordinate the Hygiene promotion (HP) and community mobilization (CM) activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets, and plans.
    • Assist the WASH Team Leader in all aspects of Hygiene Promotion and Community Mobilization programs planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation
    • Assist in the identification of communities/Internally Displaced Persons Hygiene promotion needs and working closely with Community Leaders
    • Contribute to the development of tools and materials for Hygiene Promotion and Community Mobilization.
    • Participate in assessing Hygiene Promotion and Community Mobilization needs of the communities/IDPs and assists in the development of appropriate training materials and plans
    • Conducts a training session on Hygiene Promotion and Community Mobilization for the local Hygiene Promoters
    • Provides technical assistance to the WASH Team Leader and local counterparts on issues Hygiene information and communication strategies
    • Working closely with the other WASH Technical Assistant to assists in the establishment, and training of water point committees as well as monitoring their performance
    • Assists in the compilation of weekly and monthly hygiene promotion reports, program documents, project proposals, and budgets
    • Ensure that procurement, development, and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and according to procedures

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of science or Higher National Diploma in health or social works related fields or communication
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience from working with hygiene promotion/community mobilization projects in a humanitarian/recovery context.
    • Experience from working with social work and/or with the distribution of humanitarian assistance is an advantage.
    • Must have a good knowledge of hygiene promotion in the emergency/recovery context.
    • Familiarity with international minimum standards of water, hygiene, sanitation (i.e., SPHERE) is an advantage

    ICLA Technical Assistant

    ICLA Technical Assistant - Maiduguri (Nigeria Nationals Only)

    NRC is looking for an ICLA Technical Assistant for our sub-field office in Maiduguri in Northern Nigeria. The purpose of the ICLA Technical Assistant is the day to day implementation of ICLA program activities in the Maiduguri sub-field office.

    The ICLA Technical Assistant reports to the ICLA Officer.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Assist in the direct Implementation of legal and civil identity activities; HLP activities and CDR activities, in particular, the information and counseling sessions, legal assistance and capacity building training
    • Assist in the documentation of project achievements and deliverables including compiling periodic reports
    • Contribute to the development of training materials and information dissemination materials adapted to the location and context
    • Engage in community mobilization and beneficiary engagement
    • Provide updates and contribute to an updated M& E system in the country
    • Integrate gender, protection and advocacy priorities during ICLA project implementation

    Qualifications

    • University Degree in law or social sciences from a recognized Nigerian university, a thorough knowledge of the application of Nigerian law in the displacement context
    • Work experience in the field of law (e.g. courts, attorney or legal aid agencies) and humanitarian protection. Preferably experience in working with displaced populations.
    • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
    • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
    • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
    • Managing resources to optimize results
    • High-level competency in computer skills (Microsoft Office applications)
    • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
    • Fluency in Hausa and/or Kanuri in one or more of the national/regional languages. Kanuri speaking candidates and female candidates are strongly encouraged.

    ICLA Officer

The purpose of the Information Counselling and Legal Assistance Officer is to provide support to the ICLA Team Leaders and contribute to the implementation of the ICLA program in Nigeria, Monguno, Borno State.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Implement the legal assistance programs including HLP, CDR and identity documentation activities innovatively to adapt to location and context, in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements and optimize opportunities for synergies
    • Contribute to the planning procedures and tools for implementation of ICLA projects in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
    • Document project achievements and deliverables
    • Monitor technical quality of ICLA projects and maintain transparency of implementation progress
    • Contribute to an effective M& E system in the country
    • Support and integrate gender, protection and advocacy priorities into ICLA program design
    • Contribute to the development of the ICLA strategy, technical SOPs/guidelines and Macro LFAs for Nigeria
    • Contribute to the development of funding proposal, project budgets, and donor reports
    • Contribute to coordination and management of the ICLA project implementation (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirement
    • Supervise Project Assistants, ensure the transfer of relevant skills for quality program implementation

    Qualifications

    • Minimum Bachelor of Law degree and must have been called to the Nigerian BAR (be able to practice as a lawyer in Nigeria) and be conversant with international humanitarian and Human Rights law
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a practicing lawyer.
    • Knowledge of the laws and policies governing Housing Land and Property issues and Identity documentation is mandatory
    • Experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
    • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
    • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
    • Fluency in written and oral English
    • Computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheets is required
    • Knowledge of the context in Nigeria
    • Fluency in one or more of the national/regional languages (Hausa and Kanuri preferred)
    • Experience with humanitarian activities
