    Senior Medical Officer and Clinical Lead

    Location: Synapse Japonica in Port Harcourt
    Reports to:  Consultant Psychiatrist and Medical Director

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities
    Ward Duties:

    • Be present and contactable within clinic premises at all times during work hours except when on other official duties .
    • To carry out a physical examination on all patients before admission according to Synapse Policy
    • To maintain individual contact with patients, carrying out ward rounds and other duties detailed by the Consultant
    • To update clinical notes on all patients according to best practice for record keeping
    • To ensure that within a week of admission, patient’s diagnosis in line with ICD is documented on EMR and explained to the patient and Family.
    • Ensure that leaflets explaining diagnosis, medication and its effects are given to patient, explained and documented. Encourage consultants to explain diagnosis to patient and document it.
    • To respond promptly to the request of all clinical staff (consultants, other doctors and nurses) to see patients within the clinic and to advice or start any treatment as indicated.
    • Undertake specific medical procedures on patients within the clinic as requested by medical and nursing staff: cannulation, commencing i.v infusions, administration of i.v drugs, etc.
    • To type and file discharge summaries on all patients discharged from Synapse Services within 72 hours of discharge
    • Must ensure every patient discharged from Synapse Services sees a doctor within 7 days post discharge
    • Run regular follow up clinics and encourage patient attendance
    • Carry out home visits to review patients
    • Lead a clinical team to pick up patients from the community for admission
    • Partake in On call duties

    Other duties:

    • Run a smoking cessation clinic
    • Contribute to and be a part of Synapse Business Team
    • Be part of the team that makes contact with Organizations to seek clients for Synapse
    • Carry out presentations at clinical meetings in various hospitals to inform them of our clinical services
    • To examine a sick/injured member of clinic staff and offer appropriate advice in respect of treatment
    • Liaise regularly with Service Manager to discuss service improvement
    • Carry out regular teaching sessions directed at Nurses, Support Workers and Psychologists.

    Administrative Duties:

    • Be a part of interview panels during staff recruitment
    • Be a member of Synapse Middle management committee and attend line Management meetings
    • Be a co-chair for Synapse Educational meetings
    • Will be asked to be part of other adhoc committees if and when necessary
    • Take a lead role in developing and writing proposals for Synapse japonica Services
    • Be a facilitator on some of Synapse Services Training programs
    • Read understand and adhere to clinic policies and procedures
    • Will be a clinical and managerial lead
    • Will be a part of the Business Development team

    Health and Safety and Quality Assurance:

    • Be familiar, understand and adhere to all Health and Safety regulations including evacuation policy and the medical officer’s role in such an event
    • Be aware of the promotion of effective customer care and public relations in order to promote the good reputation of the clinic
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Line Manager is essential

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • Bachelor's of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery
    • Post Graduation qualifications including Masters programs are desirable
    • Experience in non-clinical settings that demonstrates exposure to other industries is desirable.
    • Relevant experience in mental health is desirable
    • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in Clinical care and patient management.


    • Will be sponsored to internal training programs and if exceptional will be exposed to international training programs
    • Will be expected to engage in self-directed learning

    Cook (Continental and National)

    Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
    Reports to: Admin/ Customer Service Lead

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensure food is prepared as required
    • Ensure meals are prepared on time and properly presented
    • Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.
    • Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
    • Estimate expected food consumption; then requisition or purchase supplies, or procure food from storage.
    • Measure ingredients required for specific food items being prepared and keep records of stock on a daily basis.
    • Regulate temperatures of ovens, freezers, grills, and roasters.
    • Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods.
    • Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.
    • Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils.
    • Portion, arrange, garnish food, and serve food to patients
    • Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils.
    • Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
    • Any other duties as assigned by your line manager


    • Minimum of OND
    • Excellent cooking skills with ability to prepare several dishes
    • Able to work in a fast-paced environment/ under pressure
    • Strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation standards
    • Minimum of 2- 3 years work experience as a cook

    Transport Officer

    Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
    Reports to: Admin/ Customer Service Lead

    Job Purpose

    • To utilize all assigned routes to transport individuals and goods safely to and from various work sites, educational institutions, medical facilities, grocery stores, drug stores and other locations.

    Job Duties

    • Transport staff to needed destinations in a timely, safe and courteous manner.
    • To drive carefully at all times and ensure the safety of passengers (staff), other road users and the assigned vehicle.
    • Maintain driver’s log and mileage log and also update it regularly.
    • To ensure cleanliness of assigned vehicle at all times; when in use or otherwise and that the vehicle is in good condition before use.
    • Assumes responsibility for care and maintenance of the vehicle; wash and clean the interior, take car for maintenance and repair.
    • Perform related duties as required and assist in other duties as assigned by supervisor


    • Minimum of OND
    • Minimum of 2- 3 years’ work experience as a Driver
    • Must possess a Valid Driver’s license
    • Must be very familiar with Port- Harcourt roads
    • Competent driving skills
    • Good communication skills
    • High level of confidentiality and integrity

    Janitor / Cleaner

    Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
    Reports to: Admin / Customer Service Lead

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities
    Cleaning of the Offices and the Ward:

    • Sweep and mop the floors of all the offices and the corridors.
    • Empty all dustbins.
    • Wipe/dust down all the furniture: chairs, tables, cabinets.
    • Ensure that all the materials on the office desks are arranged neatly.
    • Dust all equipment/gadgets; calculators, phones, printers, scanners, fans, etc.
    • Wash the toilets/ bathrooms; make sure that the toilet bowls and seats are clean, ensure that there is toilet paper, and the sink is clean as well.
    • Empty the dustbins
    • Sweep and mop the rooms and bathrooms.
    • Cobweb

    Cleaning of Compound:

    • Wetting of all flowers
    • Sweeping and cleaning the Facility compound
    • Trimming of the shrubs and flowers


    • Washing of patients’ bedsheets.
    • Washing of patients’ clothes.
    • Washing of the curtains.


    • Minimum of OND
    • Minimum of 2- 3 years’ work experience as a Cleaner
    • Good communication skills
    • High level of confidentiality and integrity
    • Good Professional Image.

    Security Officer

    Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
    Reports to: Admin/ Customer Service Lead

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    • Protecting company property and maintaining a safe and secure environment.
    • Monitoring and controlling access at both the main gate entrance and the building entrances by both patients, visitors and staff members.
    • Protect and secure staff, visitors and patients.
    • Notify visitors of existing rules, regulations and safety procedures observed the facility.
    • Ensuring the protection of patient information.
    • Patrolling the facility to observe for signs of criminal activity or disorder.
    • Ensure that all packages addressed/meant for patients are inspected before entering the facility to avoid dangerous objects are not smuggled in.
    • Record any unusual occurrences within the facility.
    • Any other responsibility assigned by the supervisor.


    • Minimum of OND
    • Should be physically fit.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Minimum of 2- 3 years’ work experience as a Security Officer.
