    Agribusiness Officer

    Job purpose

    • SHA is looking for a dynamic, high performing individual to fill the role of Agribusiness Officer. The post holder will unlock agribusiness opportunities that will involve women and youth across different nodes of sorghum, millet, soya bean, groundnut, and horticulture value chains. The ideal candidate will have a track record of working with micro, small and medium enterprises in the agricultural sector across a range of value chains.

    Key Responsibilities

    Agribusiness Support

    • Establish and maintain processes and systems which ensure strong continued linkages between participants and Market actors across all the value chains of implementation.
    • Map and identify market actors of agribusinesses and provide advisory on tailor made support to MSMEs with a focus on access to market, market information service and access to financial management services.
    • Facilitate participants’ linkage to financial institutions to unlock opportunities and access to financial products while fostering good partnership between SHA and the financial institution.
    • Provide advisory for agribusiness owners to improve in agricultural ventures through B2B and other relevant techniques.
    • Provide advisory for enterprises in accessing market information through market intelligence sources and digital platforms.
    • Support to ensure high level of accountability to participants, stakeholders and donor ensuring effective feedback mechanism, regular communication, timely production and submission of plans, reports and assessment.
    • Provide advisory to facilitate linkages between Aggregators and major off-takers to increased access to market.
    • In collaboration with capacity building team, facilitate training on marketing skills, negotiations skills and Digital marketing.

    Stakeholder Collaboration

    • Leverage experience and understanding of Agribusiness and service providers within the Agricultural space.
    • Map and identify main Agribusiness players/actors/partner institutions to offer Agribusiness trainings and additional business development services.
    • Collaborate with financial institutions, government agencies, private sectors and others to create linkages between MSMEs and funding providers.
    • Identify and facilitate input/equipment financing schemes for MSMEs.
    • Effective Implementation and Programme Quality
    • Coordinate business collaboration and work closely with the Program Manager on the overall project strategy on Agribusiness.
    • Coordinate monitoring and evaluation Support to ensure quality assurance and oversight on business collaboration and partnerships, which includes regular field visits in Kano.
    • Coordinate project documentation and maintain an updated database for market actors in agribusiness across the 5 value chains.

    • High level of computer literacy with a solid command of Microsoft Office suite.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Professional experience in learner-centred training methodologies and coaching.
    • Familiarity with the local context and communities in Kano State.
    • Understand agribusiness opportunities across the selected value chains in Kano.

    Senior Officer, Entrepreneurship Ecosystem and MSME Development

    Job purpose

The post holder will be to provide advisory on key project activities in the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem and MSME Development to improve and strengthen their business practices, addressing the key constraints that MSMEs face. The ideal candidate will have a track record of working with micro, small and medium enterprises in the agricultural sector across a range of value chains.

    Key Responsibilities

    Enterprise Support

    • Map and identify main actors of the entrepreneurial ecosystems and provide advisory on tailor made support to MSMEs with a focus on capacity building/ coaching in areas such as financial literacy, basic financial management and compliance, identifying additional business development services where necessary.
    • Provide advisory for enterprises to improve in productivity through good agricultural practices and other relevant techniques.
    • Provide advisory for enterprises in accessing market information through market intelligence sources and digital platforms.
    • Support to ensure high level of accountability to participants, stakeholders and donor ensuring effective feedback mechanism, regular communication, timely production and submission of plans, reports and assessment.
    • Facilitate market linkage between MSMEs and Market actors while ensuring that MSMEs assess relevant information about market potential and opportunities to improve their businesses.
    • Facilitate financial linkages between MSMEs and financial products service providers to enable access to finance for various business.
    • Map and identify individuals and clusters with outstanding business ideas while collaborating with Agribusiness Officer and Capacity building team to support in developing quality business plans.
    • Facilitate registration of cooperative with relevant authorities and bodies (State government, SON among others) for better access to resources.
    • In collaboration with capacity building team, train clusters to become formal cooperatives.

    Stakeholder Collaboration

    Project Coordinator

    Job purpose

    • SHA is looking for a dynamic individual to fill the role of Project Coordinator. The candidate will manage the day-to-day activities of the project in Kano State, including activity planning, supervision of staff and project implementation. In addition, the job holder will manage partners, resources, and interface with external stakeholders to achieve the project’s targets, and objectives on time, within scope and budget in compliance with donor requirements and SHA guidelines.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Leadership and Team Management

    • Lead the mapping, mobilisation and profiling of programme participants at inception developing set criteria for clustering.
    • Provide team members with information, tools and other resources to improve performance and reach objectives.
    • Manage the performance of line managed staff through objective setting, regular performance review, managing feedbacks and regularly monitor performance development plans.
    • Support the continual growth and professional development of all line-managed staff, ensuring that appropriate support and development mechanisms are in place.
    • Promote accountability, communicate expectations and provide constructive feedback via regular performance reviews.
    • Lead a diverse team of direct and indirect reports in the field offices and conduct timely performance planning; establish performance expectations with team members, provide regular constructive feedback on team members’ performance and conduct performance reviews in a collaborative manner.
    • Project Management and Technical Responsibilities
    • Lead the day-to-day project implementation of Youth in Kano state, ensuring the effective and efficient execution of project activities while working closely with the Team Leader on the overall project strategy.
    • Support the Programme manager to develop overall strategic implementation plan, in line with approved project narrative, workplan and SHA operational guidelines.
    • Ensure a high level of accountability to participants, stakeholders and donor ensuring effective feedback mechanism, regular communication, timely production and submission of plans, reports and assessment.
    • Support to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate Business models across different nudes of Sorghum, Millet, Horticulture, Groundnuts and Soya beans value chains.
    • Coordinate project staff and project stakeholders at all levels in developing training guide to facilitate Training of Trainers sessions on different business models.
    • Develop quality weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to the donor including success stories, income and expenditure account, cost analysis reports, and other financial information, in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Create a sustainable work environment of mutual respect that attracts motivated, skilled and effective team members and enables them individually and collectively to strive to achieve excellence.
    • In collaboration with the Team Leader, Initiate and manage market related value chain analysis ensuring implementation are done in accordance with proposed business models.
    • Ensure all opportunities to identify and incorporate women and youth activities to aligned with project indicators.
    • Drive the stakeholder analysis of the selected commodity chains, if appropriate, as well as identifying and contacting potential agents of change within agreed value chains.
    • Coordinate all administrative aspects of partnerships including but not limited to, MoUs, Collaboration Agreements, among others.
    • Effective Collaboration, Representation and Project Quality Assurance
    • Represent the Team Leader and where needed SHA in all technical meetings and stakeholders’ engagements.
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships, and regular communication with multiple stakeholders in Kano through co-planning and co-delivery of activities with the permanent actors of the system (government, civil society, private sector), to the full extent possible, maximising ownership.
    • Organise and foster strong, collaborative relationships with partner institutions and additional business development service providers.
    • Ensure project quality assurance and oversight, which includes regular field visits in Kano state.
    • In Collaboration with the Team Leader, monitor risks that arise during project implementation and implement rapid risk mitigation measures including effective communication to all stakeholders.
    • Lead on effective implementation of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning framework for project implementation.

    • At least 3 years professional experience in project management and 2 years in Market systems development (MSD) approach.
    • Familiarity with the local context and communities in Kano State.
    • Understand Agribusiness opportunities across the selected value chains in Kano.

    Experience and Skills:

    Transport Officer

    Job purpose

    • SHA Nigeria is seeking a reliable and skilled Transport Officer (Driver) to join our team and support the transportation of staff, goods, and resources to project sites, meetings, and other locations within and outside the city. The Transport Officer will be responsible for ensuring safe, timely, and efficient transportation while maintaining the organisation’s vehicle in good condition. This role will require a commitment to safety, attention to detail, and effective communication with the logistics and programme teams.

    Key Responsibilities

    Vehicle Operation and Transportation

    • Safely drive the organisation’s vehicle to transport staff, equipment, and supplies to meetings, project locations, and other destinations as directed.
    • Ensure timely and efficient delivery and pick-up of personnel and goods to ensure smooth operational processes.
    • Follow established routes, schedules, and timelines, while ensuring flexibility in case of changes or emergency transport needs.

    Vehicle Maintenance and Safety

    • Conduct daily pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition, including checking fuel, tires, oil, and other essential systems.
    • Report any vehicle maintenance issues or accidents promptly to the Logistics Manager and follow the procedures for repairs and maintenance.
    • Maintain cleanliness and proper hygiene of the vehicle, both inside and outside, ensuring it meets the organisation’s standards.
    • Ensure the vehicle’s fuel levels are adequate and that refueling is completed as needed, tracking fuel usage in accordance with internal guidelines.

    Documentation and Reporting

    • Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, including logbooks, fuel consumption, maintenance schedules, and daily routes taken.
    • Ability to track fuelling coupon usage and prepare timely retirements with supporting documentation.
    • Must ensure timely monitoring of coupon balance and initiate top-up requests as needed.
    • Ensure that all required documents such as vehicle insurance, licenses and documentations are up to date and available in the vehicle at all times.
    • Report any incidents, accidents, or delays to the Procurement and Logistics Officer immediately, and complete the necessary documentation in compliance with the organisation’s policy.
    • Responsible for preparing and submitting monthly reports on vehicle usage, including mileage, fuelling, maintenance, and trip records.

    Compliance with Safety and Regulatory Standards

    • Adhere to all local traffic laws and regulations, as well as the organisation’s internal transportation and safety guidelines.
    • Ensure the safety of passengers and items by following safety protocols, including the use of seat belts, secure loading of goods and other safety measures.
    • Participate in regular safety briefings and training as required, to stay updated on best practices and any changes in road safety regulations.

    Support for Logistics and Program Activities

    • Assist with the loading and unloading of materials, equipment, and supplies as needed, ensuring goods are securely transported to project sites.
    • Collaborate with the logistics and program teams to ensure transport requirements are met for field activities, events, and emergency responses.
    • Provide transport support during emergencies or urgent requests from the program and country office teams.

    Customer Service and Communication

    • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while interacting with staff, project partners, and external stakeholders.
    • Communicate any delays, issues, or concerns related to transport services to the relevant team members in a timely manner.
    • Assist with any other transport-related tasks as needed, supporting program activities and logistics operations.
