    Microbiologist, Golden Penny Foods

    PURPOSE 

    The Microbiologist is responsible for ensuring the microbiological safety and quality of raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, water, and production environments. The role supports compliance with food safety standards and regulatory requirements across the production facility.

    THE JOB

    • Conduct microbiological analysis of raw materials, packaging materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
    • Carry out microbiological testing of water and air samples across production facilities.
    • Collect and analyse environmental samples (e.g., swabs) to verify the effectiveness of sanitation systems.
    • Ensure all analysed samples meet required microbiological standards and are free from foodborne pathogens such as Salmonella and E. coli, as well as spoilage organisms like yeast and mold.
    • Prepare, sterilise, and maintain culture media and laboratory equipment.
    • Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to plant hygiene, water quality, and product contamination.
    • Support implementation and compliance with food safety systems, including HACCP and regulatory standards.

    THE PERSON MUST 

    • Have strong knowledge of microbiological testing methods and food safety standards.
    • Demonstrate a good understanding of HACCP principles and foodborne pathogens.
    • Possess strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
    • Be able to identify, investigate, and resolve quality and contamination issues.
    • Show good communication skills, with the ability to influence and educate stakeholders.

    QUALIFICATION

    • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in microbiology or a related field.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar role within a food manufacturing or quality assurance environment.
    • Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Food Technology (NIFST) or a related professional body is required.

    Service Manager, Mechanical – Projects Golden Penny Foods

    PURPOSE 

    To support plant operations by overseeing the installation, testing, maintenance, and decommissioning of mechanical projects and equipment, ensuring efficient delivery, compliance with standards, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

    THE JOB

    • Conduct periodic inspections of third-party machines using approved checklists to ensure optimal performance and promptly escalate issues to service providers.
    • Participate in the receipt, installation, commissioning, and testing of new plants, machinery, and equipment to confirm specifications.
    • Supervise day-to-day project activities, including planning, scheduling, and coordination of resources.
    • Prepare material requests and develop Bills of Quantities (BOQs) to support project execution.
    • Coordinate and supervise tasks carried out by in-house technicians and external vendors, ensuring timely delivery and quality execution.
    • Ensure full compliance with safety regulations and proper use of tools by all technical personnel.
    • Collaborate with AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) vendors and deputising personnel on maintenance activities

    THE PERSON MUST 

    • Possess good oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrate strong time management and organisational skills.
    • Be a team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and vendors.
    • Have working knowledge of AutoCAD for basic engineering designs.
    • Be computer literate with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

    QUALIFICATION

    • HND/B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in mechanical projects or maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
