    Nutrition and Health Officer

    Location: Monguno, Borno
    Reporting to: Nutrition and Health Program Manager
    Proposed start date: June 2022

    Job Description

    • We are currently looking to fill the role of Nutrition and Health Officer who will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation and completion of Nutrition and health project activities throughout the project life cycle. 
    • He/She will provide oversight and supervision to health facilities run by State and LGAs and supported by AAH, building the capacity of MoH Health workers, and keeping continuous updates and reporting.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Mapping of Nutrition and health activities;
    • Technical support for community-level activities;
    • LGA Monitoring and evaluation of nutrition and health interventions;
    • Supporting the Programme Manager in the management of the project cycle in nutrition and health;
    • Ensuring projects are implemented in line with donor proposals and requirements and in accordance with Action against Hunger, Country, and international standards;
    • Identification of key community members, selection and training of community Health Influencers, Promoters, and Services (CHIPS) agents;
    • Planning and implementation of care groups/porridge mums and community health and nutrition promotion activities;
    • Support the Nutrition and Health Assistants in the selection of porridge mum beneficiaries and care groups;
    • Follow-up behavioural change communication activities are taking place as per the plan and through appropriate methods and tools;
    • Facilitate and assist the PM conducting formative research;
    • The twice-yearly assessment of the skills and performance of the Nutrition and Health Assistants;
    • The management of his/her teams (leadership, monitoring, motivation....);
    • Reporting-ensure regular reports are produced by health workers in supported health facilities
    • Support the LGA to consolidate quality facility data in a timely manner;
    • Review and analyse facility service delivery data and provide feedback to LGA and health facilities provided;
    • Facilitate and jointly plan for LGA level coordination meetings.  

    Position Requirements

    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health or other relevant qualifications with experience in Public Health and CMAM programming;
    • Minimum of three (3) years experience in Primary Health Care Program;
    • An excellent report-writing skill is required including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
    • Fluent in written and spoken English and Hausa;
    • Good Communication and Interpersonal skills;
    • Team management experience with similar programs;
    • Ability to observe and to provide feedback on the activities;
    • Ability to manage staff according to local culture and organization policies.

    Starting Gross Basic Salary / Benefits

    Job Description

    • We are currently looking to fill the role of Nutrition and Health Assistant who will be responsible for supporting and monitoring of health and nutrition services in the assigned health facilities and communities.
    • This involves providing oversight and supervision of health facilities run by State and Monguno LGA which is supported by AAH. Also, building the capacity of MoH Health workers and community health volunteers and keeping continuous updates and reporting.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Mapping of Nutrition and health activities;
    • Technical support for community-level activities, planning and supervision of community nutrition and health promotion activities through Community Health Influencers, Promoters, and Services (CHIPS) agents and care groups;
    • Routine monitoring of nutrition and health interventions at health facilities;
    • Support Health facilities in the implementation of Health and Nutrition activities including CMAM, IYCF, SRH, Pharmacy, and curative consultations;
    • Ensure assigned health facilities deliver health and nutrition services in line with the national and international standards donor proposals and requirements and in accordance with Action against Hunger, Country and international standards;
    • Conducting twice-weekly monitoring visits at assigned health facilities, identifying gaps on case management;
    • Conducting monitoring visits at assigned porridge mum groups, identifying gaps and providing tangible solutions;
    • Provide on-job training and mentoring for MoH staffs, CHIPS agents and volunteers;
    • Ensure proper collection and documentation of anthropometric data from porridge mum beneficiaries;
    • Support Health facilities in strengthening linkages between community and Nutrition and health activities including CMAM, IYCF, SRH;
    • Ensure assigned health facilities deliver nutrition and health services in line with the national and international standards donor proposals and requirements and in accordance with Action against Hunger, Country and international standards;
    • Manage community mobilizational activities within the project to ensure compliance, technical quality, and coherence in all AAH mobilization, trainings, and IEC material building;
    • Ensure regular weekly reports are produced by health workers in supported health facilities;
    • Support the LGA to consolidate quality facility data in a timely manner.

    Position Requirements

    • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health, or other relevant qualifications with experience in Public Health and CMAM programming;
    • Minimum of one (1) years’ experience in primary health care program and CMAM program implementation;
    • Excellent report-writing skills including Microsoft Office;
    • Fluency in written and spoken English and Hausa;
    • Good Communication and Interpersonal skills;
    • Team management experience with similar programs;
    • Ability to observe and provide feedback on the activities;
    • Ability to manage staff according to local culture and organization policies;
    • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions;

    Food Security and Livelihoods Assistant

    Job Description

    • We are currently looking to fill the role of Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Assistant who will work under the direct guidance and supervision of the FSL Officer to support the implementation of FSL activities in the target area of project implementation.
    • The role shall involve direct contact with the project's beneficiaries, vendors, local and community leaders, and other key stakeholders that are relevant and critical in the implementation of the FSL component of the BHA-funded Project. 

    Key Responsibilities

    • Facilitate community mobilization towards cash and voucher programs in targeted communities;
    • Facilitate engagement and meetings with community and LGA level stakeholders towards achieving project objectives;
    • Facilitate trainings and other capacity-building activities on relevant aspects of the interventions at the field level under the guidance of the FSL officer;
    • Work with traditional and local authorities to ensure the identification and selection of the most vulnerable IDPs and host communities for emergency food assistance;
    • Collect information on a regular basis to enable surveillance to ensure the BHA project implementation is achieving the expected result;
    • Collect and document relevant information from the field to facilitate learning and inform key program decisions with the support of the FSL Officer;
    • Support the M&E team in planning, collections, and management of key program data such as price monitoring, proxy update, etc;
    • Support beneficiary registration by collecting accurate beneficiary data the right tools as may be assigned;
    • Participate in the monitoring and supervision of vendors’ activities before and during disbursement to support beneficiaries’ transactions;
    • Contribute to the development of project community mobilisation strategies for successful targeting and registration of beneficiaries for the cash & voucher based food assistance interventions;
    • Implement sensitisation activities for targeted communities about organization and project objectives and activities with support from SEMA, IOM camp managers, Community Volunteers, traditional leaders, and other key stakeholders;
    • Support the verification of the beneficiaries to ensure the project reaches only the most vulnerable households.

    Position Requirements

    • Minimum of a National Diploma in Agriculture, Economics, Business Management or related field.
    • At least one (1) year of relevant experience in the field of FSL.
    • Fluency in English, Kanuri, and Hausa languages.
    • Willingness and ability to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of FSL.
    • Good knowledge and understanding of Agriculture issues.

    Enterprise Development Assistant

    Job Description

    • We are currently looking to fill the role of Enterprise Development Assistant who will be responsible for supporting the Enterprise Development Officer in the implementation of the Livelihoods/IGA component of the FSL Project funded by BHA.
    • The role holder will have direct contact and liaison with beneficiaries, vendors, community/ local leaders, local government representatives, and other stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist the Enterprise Development Officer in the coordination of livelihood/IGA activities;
    • Support in the process of beneficiary registration, community mobilization, and sensitization;
    • Assist in promoting community participation and inclusion to encourage community ownership over livelihoods activities being implemented;
    • Collect information on a regular basis to enable surveillance to ensure the BHA project implementation is achieving the expected result;
    • Support regular Market assessments to determine feasible IGAs;
    • Collect and document relevant information from the field to facilitate learning and inform key program decisions with the support of the Enterprise Development Officer;
    • Support the M&E team in planning, collections, and management of key program data such as price monitoring, proxy-update, etc;
    • Contribute to the development of project community mobilisation strategies for successful targeting and registration of beneficiaries for the cash & voucher-based food assistance interventions;

    • Experience in managing and working with enumerators.
    • Experience in Cash, IGA, FSL, and VSLA.
    • Microsoft Office Skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
    • Willingness and ability to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
    • Fluency in Hausa, Kanuri, and English languages.
