    Junior Investment Officer – (Investment Analysis / Valuation Models / Generalist / Due Diligence

    Our client is a Pan-African fund management company focused on investments in medium sized companies in Sub-Saharan Africa. They are looking for a hardworking and innovative Investment Officer to join their team based in Nigeria. The team oversees their Anglo-phone West Africa operations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Sourcing and identification of investment opportunities in Anglophone West Africa and indeed on the continent
    • Analysis of investment opportunities and interesting sectors
    • Support in due diligence processes, company analyses and market studies
    • Preparation of financing and valuation models in Excel
    • Data room review 
    • Preparation of investment proposals for the investment committee
    • Further development of portfolio companies through close cooperation with management and advisory board
    • Willingness to travel for site visits and management presentations

    Experience

    • 3 years as an Investment Officer
    • World-class modelling and quantitative abilities
    • Ability to provide investment analysis effectively with clarity
    • Ability to prepare compelling materials describing a transaction and value drivers and present the outcome to the executives in high-pressure situations

    A pan-African fund management company focused on investments in medium sized companies in Sub-saharan Africa, is currently looking for a Senior Investment Officer to join their team with the following personality attributes:

    They have an office in Nigeria that oversees our Anglo-phone west Africa operations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for business development and generating investment pipeline
    • Lead the investment process including deal sourcing, initial deal screening, conduct preliminary analysis and evaluation, structuring and due diligence, portfolio management including creating value add opportunities, reporting and exit planning.
    • Deal Screening:
      • Ensure that the potential transactions are in line with the Fund’s strategy, development impact objectives and highlight relevant regulatory and reputational risks, conflict of interest and environmental and social issues.
    • Due Diligence:
      • Manage and interact with the different consultants as regards making investment decisions.
    • Portfolio Monitoring:
      • Interact with the management of portfolio companies and review performance on regular basis.
      • Discuss with portfolio companies the strategies or action steps to enhance performance.
      • Deliberately seek to create value add opportunities in addition to those contemplated in the investment thesis
      • Oversee the compilation of periodic reports (monthly, quarterly and annual reports).
      • Distribute investor quarterly and annual reports.
    • Investment Exit Management:
      • Oversee exit activities to ensure expected value is realized from portfolio companies.
      • Lead exit process and negotiation with eventual advisors
    • Leadership and People Management:
      • Provide oversight, direction and coaching to junior team members.

    Requirements: Qualifications and Skill

    • Bachelor’s Degree in finance or Relevant
    • A Master’s Degree will be an advantage
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Originating, Prospecting, Managing Portfolio Companies
    • Experience working with Investments
    • A strong, and wide network of existing relationships within the AWA region 
    • Significant experience of leading all aspects of the deal process

    Head Of Strategy (Banking / Management / Finance)

    Job Description:

    A leading banking client of ours is currently looking for a Head of Strategy, who would be responsible for formalizing the banks strategic-planning processes, and leading the development of the strategy, translating it for people across functions and business units, driving organizational change by forging new working relationships and synergies across the organization and establishing greater transparency and accountability for those people carrying out the Bank’s strategy. In addition, the Head of Strategy is responsible for assessing whether strategic initiatives, at all levels of the organization, are in line with the company’s standards and objectives and whether they are assisting to deliver the strategic ambition. Additionally, the role holder is responsible for unlocking bottlenecks to strategy execution.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead the development of the strategic plan/framework for the organization, and the detailed current year operating plan, while adhering to direction set by the CEO and Board of Directors. This includes formalizing and leading the strategic planning process, focusing on long-term trends, outlook, and competitive intelligence.
    • Facilitate the execution of the strategy by working collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team members and ensuring that the strategy is communicated and easily understood by all throughout the organization. Ensures that strategic actions are completed at various levels to achieve desired results.
    • Facilitate the development of Key Performance Indicators and initiatives specific leading and lagging indicators and provide guidance on consistent monitoring of the strategy. The Head of strategy is also responsible for the development of monitoring tools and facilitation of the strategy cadence process.
    • Report to the CEO, Strategy Committee, Board Strategy and Investment Committee and overall Bank Board on the status of the strategy and provides insights into key implementation risks and mitigation therein.
    • The role holder will act as the CEO’s unofficial aide de camp. The Head of Strategy will be responsible for preparation of strategy presentation and facilitation of executive level workshops and planning sessions.
    • As the Special Projects leader, the Head of strategy will from time to time be called upon to lead special projects that support strategic aims.
    • Work with the CEO to ensure effective communication of the strategy and strategic alignment process.

    Requirements: Qualification and Skill

    • A degree from an accredited college/university; Preferably in a business-related field.
    • Postgraduate degree will be an added advantage.
    • At least 10 years’ experience working in strategic management function, project delivery or management consulting.
    • 5 years of Banking or Financial Industry Experience.
    • Experience in working with cross functional and complex teams.
    • A track record of end-to-end strategy management.
    • Understanding of key principles of strategic management processes-Certification a bonus.
    • Strong verbal and written skills in English.
    • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
