    Compliance Auditor

    Job Summary

    • The Compliance Auditor will work with the Legal Counsel and Manager, Internal Audit, to ensure that the company is adhering to all statutory laws and regulations, as well as enforcing compliance with internal regulations.

    Responsibilities

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Support in the performance of risk management and control over operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability, and compliance with all legal and statutory directives and regulations.
    • To execute compliance and audit assignments according to instructions and in line with the approved plans.
    • Reviewing all relevant programs and activities affected by industry regulations, including records, reports, and software.
    • Analysing existing compliance records and making all necessary updates. 
    • Analysing potential risks within the company and its practices to avoid possible compliance issues. 
    • Support in the monitoring and periodic review of policies organisation wide and recommend areas for improvement.
    • Conduct follow up with management to address procedures and practices that are not compliant with industry regulations. 
    • Tracking reported staff/company violations and the responses and plans. 
    • Ensure continuous knowledge and development regarding industry rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards. 
    • Interpret and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including environmental regulations, safety standards, and business specific policies. 
    • Establish a robust compliance monitoring system to track adherence to regulatory requirements. 
    • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees about compliance policies, regulations, and ethical standards. 
    • Foster a culture of compliance through effective communication and awareness campaigns within the organization.
    • Prepare and submit compliance reports to regulatory authorities as required. 
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of compliance activities, audits, and corrective actions taken.

    Qualification:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance roles within the energy industry in Nigeria with Designate Compliance Professional (DCP) Qualification. 
    • Called to the Nigerian bar with a minimum of 5 years post-call experience. 
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Auditing and Finance. 
    • Professional accounting qualifications from ICAN, ACCA, IIA, will be an added advantage. 
    • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the energy industry's rules, guidelines, standards and regulations. 

    Competencies:

    • Strong work ethics and time management skills. 
    • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and energy sector compliance requirements. 
    • Good communication skills.
    • Proven work experience in Internal Audit functions. 
    • Excellent team player with the ability to work with a team to meet the corporate objectives of the organisation and communicate complex regulatory requirements in a clear and concise manner. 
    • High attention to details and excellent analytical skills, with the ability to adapt to changing regulatory environments.
    • Proficiency in the use of Ms Office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint etc.

    Environmental, Safety & Sustainability Supervisor

    Job Summary

    • The Environment Safety and Sustainability (ESS) Supervisor supports the business in the management, implementation, operation, monitoring, and review of the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management system, with the goal of achieving work activities without incident, harm to personnel or damage to property or the environment.
    • Additionally, the ESS supervisor will integrate sustainability responsibilities into their role to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote sustainable practices within the organisation.

    Responsibilities

    • Implement and monitor the HSE Management System, Plans, and Safe Work Procedures, integrating sustainability considerations.
    • Execute health, safety, and sustainability plans in accordance with legal guidelines and ensure compliance across Starsight operations.
    • Enforce policies to establish a culture of health, safety, and sustainability, maintaining a safe and environmentally conscious workplace.
    • Promote the HSE Management System and sustainable practices through personal example and leadership.
    • Be fully informed of all applicable national or international laws, regulations and codes of practice on HSE issues affecting the business and recommend the required actions for compliance.
    • Promote a strong awareness and personal responsibility for HSE and sustainability with all management and supervisory personnel.
    • Monitor company activities and ensure compliance with HSE and sustainability policies, plans, and procedures to assess risks and adherence to the law.
    • Ensure that Contractor HSE and sustainability activities comply with Company and Contractor HSE and sustainability Policies and Plans, conform to the terms and conditions of the Contract, and meet local statutory HSE and sustainability regulations.
    • Ensure that all hazards and risks associated with Company and Contractor work activities have been identified, assessed, and actions implemented to eliminate or reduce them to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP), considering sustainability aspects.
    • Gather OHSE data, review the daily, weekly and monthly and generate OHSE and sustainability site reports and statistics.
      Compile and publish HSE and sustainability statistics and communicate them to the ESS Manager. 
    • Ensure the development, documentation, implementation, and testing of emergency preparedness and response plans, considering sustainability factors.
    • Ensure that effective medical, first aid, occupational health facilities, resources, equipment, and consumables are provided and maintained at all offices and work sites within the assigned region, considering sustainability practices.
    • Implement and execute an HSE and sustainability training plan for Company HSE and other personnel.
    • Lead risk assessments and studies, integrating sustainability considerations, and ensure that results are addressed as work is executed.
      Organize and facilitate training, drills, and exercises for HSE, sustainability matters, emergency preparedness, and response for both employees and contractors.
    • Ensure that Company HSE and sustainability performance requirements are included in all contract documents.
    • Ensure that Contractor activities comply with the Contractor HSE and sustainability Plan and conform to the terms and conditions of the contract between the Company and Contractor.
    • Follow up on accident investigations to ensure closure or recommendations to prevent recurrence and communicate results across Company and Contractor workforces.
    • Promote HSE and sustainability-related lessons learned and the exchange of HSE and sustainability information across Company and Contractor workforces to achieve higher HSE and sustainability awareness.
    • Drive waste management initiatives to build organization’s environmental management system.
    • Perform any other HSE and sustainability related duties as required by Starsight Top Management.

    Requirements

    • Relevant Degree and Minimum of NEBOSH IGC, IOSH or other sustainability related certification.
    • Minimum of 5years proven experience in implementing and monitoring HSE management system, preferably in construction, manufacturing and construction sector. 
    • Excellent spoken and written English. Highly effective written and oral communication skills.
    • Strong commitment to HSE and sustainability, willingness to be a proactive HSE and sustainability role model and leader.
    • Highly motivated, self-starting individual with the ability to work unsupervised in a high-activity environment and achieve results through strong leadership and motivation.
    • Competent and experienced in developing, documenting, and implementing comprehensive HSE and sustainability Management Systems.
    • Competent and experienced in the effective management of an HSE and sustainability Team - office and site.
    • Pragmatic approach to problem-solving, considering sustainability aspects.
      Strong experience in working with third-party contractors to create a successful HSE and sustainability program.
    • Working knowledge of country Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation, including sustainability requirements.
    • Working knowledge of Quality Assurance practices, processes, and standards, integrating sustainability considerations.
    • Working knowledge of Health and Medical practices, processes, and standards, integrating sustainability considerations.
    • Experienced facilitator of HAZOPS and HAZIDS, considering sustainability aspects.
    • Experienced accident investigator and skilled in the use of Root Cause Analysis techniques (e.g., TapRoot, Tripod Beta, etc.), considering sustainability factors.
    • Working knowledge of (OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001) Occupational Health and Safety Standard, incorporating sustainability aspects.
    • Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001: 2015), incorporating sustainability considerations.
    • Professional Membership of recognized National/International Safety Management Society, with a focus on sustainability.
