    Design Manager (Data Centres)

    What you will do as Design Manager (Data Centres)

    As Design Manager you must prove yourself to some of the most demanding customers in the world and work pro-actively with our colleagues across the globe. Beyond the standard features of a building, our Mission Critical Facility (Data Centre) projects require specific and advanced knowledge and skills. What our clients have in common, is the need for a proactive Design Manager.

    You will assume overall responsibility for the management and execution of MCF/data centre projects within the Industry, Energy and Asset Management Advisory Group.

    You will be tasked with managing designs and delivering high quality results within multidisciplinary project teams consisting of data centre system consultants, architects and engineers. The responsibilities will include working closely with clients and other key stakeholders to deliver optimal results and implement our vision to be the "World's leading Data Centre Consultant".

    You will be responsible for managing and leading multidisciplinary design assignments covering specialised data centre disciplines including, but not limited to, cooling, security and safety systems, low voltage systems and UPS. The position will be responsible for managing the following deliverables of various disciplines:

    • Take responsibility for the technical delivery of the project.
    • Provide input into the development of technical and commercial proposals.
    • Manage Client relationships and grow the data centre portfolio with new and diverse clients.
    • Seek to integrate other leading services into the offering for data centres, for instance, energy transition.
    • Lead specialist engineers / designers etc. from a technical perspective.
    • Deliver project documents, specifications and designs, ensuring the quality and flow of information for the client and their agents.
    • Provide guidance to the bid manager in the preparation of tenders.
    • Act as the key customer liaison and represent RHDHV in discussions with the Client regarding technical matters.

    The multidisciplinary project teams you will join work on projects both at home and abroad. In addition to participating in projects, you naturally also contribute to the optimization of our internal business processes and to safeguarding and sharing knowledge within your field.     Fire Engineer (MCF / Data Centres)

    What you will do as Fire Engineer (Data Centres)

    As Fire Engineer you must prove yourself to some of the most demanding customers in the world and work pro-actively with our colleagues across the globe. Beyond the standard features of a building, our MCF projects require specific and advanced knowledge and skills. What our clients have in common, is the need for a proactive Fire Engineer. With your technical and 3D/BIM modelling skills, you know how to efficiently engineer and model design. Your main responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Engineering the design in project teams. Specific installations such as sprinkler, fire alarm, smoke heat extraction (SHE) or gas extinguishing installation
    • Develop diagrams of the installation and coordinate with other disciplines for the initial space reservations;
    • Modelling the installation in 3D Revit/BIM based on diagrams and coordinated space reservations under your supervision.
    • Implement your knowledge based on functionality, mountability, accessibility and maintainability into the model to ensure that the contractor can build it according to our model without revising it.

    You will work within a multidisciplinary team where your work will be cross borders, native and home based.     Senior Mechanical Engineer (Data Centres)

    What you will do as a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Data Centres)

    • Mechanical engineering and design during all project phases according to client, national and international standards.
      Assess client/ project mechanical engineering requirements.
    • Prepare concept design and objectively evaluate, both technically and commercially, different options based upon project objectives/requirements.
    • Review and check designs and sign off drawings generated for Buildings, cleanrooms and Industrial type projects as and when required.
      Provide professional construction monitoring services related to mechanical systems including HVAC, fire, wet services, drainage, lifts, steam, medical gas and Oxygen.
    • Provide guidance to the mechanical teams as and when required with respect to Buildings projects.
      Mentor junior engineers.
    • Management of multi-disciplinary projects from inception to close out.
    • Liaison with and within a multi-disciplinary project team setting and with external stakeholders.
    • Cost estimation of mechanical engineering scope of work, including equipment and construction costs.
    • Preparation and management of specifications, schedules, estimates, progress reports, meeting agenda's and minutes, and procurement issues.
    • Budgetary and financial responsibility for projects.
    • Maintain project records in accordance with internal quality system.
    • Manage quality assurance by ensuring that contractors meet client requirements.
    • Ensure that the works by the contractor adhere to the project design and specifications.
    • Ensure that work is done in accordance with acceptable standards of both RHDHV and that of clients.

    What you bring

    • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

    • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in cleanrooms and mechanical design
    • Extensive experience in cleanrooms mechanical design and Industrial mechanical design.
    • Extensive experience on buildings, industrial and cleanrooms type projects.
    • Experience working within a team environment – particularly closely with BIM resources
    • Solid fundamental knowledge and experience in the application of the methodologies and processes as described in PMBOK.
    • Previous track record in successfully generating new business would be advantageous.
    • An intimate knowledge of local standards and codes.
    • Be able to develop engineering documentation from first principles.
    • Be able to work within a disciplined engineering environment.
    • An intimate working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Access and Microsoft Project. (Advantage will be knowledge of BIM & Auto CAD)
    • Experience with local Municipalities & DPW processes and systems would be advantageous
    • Experience with Private Clients in terms of understating the Client’s SOW and deliverables
    • Be well acquainted with local equipment, manufacturers, suppliers and installation contractors.
    • A thorough knowledge of the OHS Act, pertinent SANS and IEC codes and standards and industry practices.

    Structural Engineer (Data Centre)

    What you will do as Structural Engineer

    • Structural engineering and design during all project phases according to client, national and international standards.
    • Assess client/ project structural engineering requirements.
    • Prepare concept design and objectively evaluate, both technically and commercially, different options based upon project objectives/requirements.
    • Perform the necessary calculations for complex steel, concrete and timber structures and contribute to the drafting of designs in cooperation with and under the supervision of the Lead Engineer(s).
    • Address complex technical questions from clients, in cooperation with the consulting engineer.
    • Perform checks and attend meetings with clients and contractors during the execution phase of projects.

    Junior Architect (Data Centres)

    What you will do as a Junior Architect (Data Centres)

    • Prepare/assist with Inception reports, concept schematic drawings and architectural packages to support Senior Design Architect.
    • Prepare/assist with reports, technical drawings and architectural specifications and tender documentation
    • Measuring and compiling of as built information

    Project Manager

    Job Description

    • You will be responsible for Project Management in design & engineering field of work and being the end responsible for the project during the construction phase.
    • As a project manager you are expected to deliver total success to allocated projects in green- and brown-field manufacturing environments.
    • You will be leading and managing multidisciplinary RHDHV teams and act as the single point of contact to the client.
    • In the current business environment, multinational clients are increasingly requesting RHDHV to develop business cases together with them in which engineering is fully integrated. These business cases subsequently are translated into conceptual design studies and master plans. In line with the above, you are expected to understand our client´s primary processes.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Manage and lead large scale design and engineering projects in a multi stakeholder environment throughout a complete project life cycle, supporting our multinational clients to make the best value decisions.
    • Develop, lead and manage the RHDHV (design/site) team during project development and delivery.
    • Initiate projects together with clients, coordinate stakeholder input, analyse and appraise production solutions, prepare project briefs and business cases and gain the necessary approvals within the client’s organization.
    • Be in charge of all project controls: e.g. planning, cost control, risk control, quality control, project administration and contract management.
    • Extensive knowledge of Design Coordination.
    • Writing technical and financial proposals.

    Minimum qualifications, skills and experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Civil, Mechanical engineering.
    • 10-15 years of experience in the management of multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects, preferably in the FMCG and F&B market.
    • Qualified professional, project management knowledge/certifications (IPMA, Prince, ..)
    • Proven track record in managing medium & large-scale projects.
    • Previous employment by a manufacturing company is an advantage.
    • International mindset and willingness to travel for short/medium/long term assignments.

    Project Manager

    Job Description

    • You will be responsible for Project Management in design & engineering field of work and being the end responsible for the project during the construction phase.
    • As a project manager you are expected to deliver total success to allocated projects in green- and brown-field manufacturing environments.
    • You will be leading and managing multidisciplinary RHDHV teams and act as the single point of contact to the client.
    • In the current business environment, multinational clients are increasingly requesting RHDHV to develop business cases together with them in which engineering is fully integrated. These business cases subsequently are translated into conceptual design studies and master plans. In line with the above, you are expected to understand our client´s primary processes.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Manage and lead large scale design and engineering projects in a multi stakeholder environment throughout a complete project life cycle, supporting our multinational clients to make the best value decisions.
    • Develop, lead and manage the RHDHV (design/site) team during project development and delivery.
    • Initiate projects together with clients, coordinate stakeholder input, analyse and appraise production solutions, prepare project briefs and business cases and gain the necessary approvals within the client’s organization.
    • Be in charge of all project controls: e.g. planning, cost control, risk control, quality control, project administration and contract management.
    • Extensive knowledge of Design Coordination.
    • Writing technical and financial proposals.

    Minimum qualifications, skills and experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Civil, Mechanical engineering.
    • 10-15 years of experience in the management of multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects, preferably in the FMCG and F&B market.
    • Qualified professional, project management knowledge/certifications (IPMA, Prince, ..)
    • Proven track record in managing medium & large-scale projects.
    • Previous employment by a manufacturing company is an advantage.
    • International mindset and willingness to travel for short/medium/long term assignments.

    Construction Management

    Job Description

    • As a construction manager you are expected to deliver total success to allocated projects in green- and brown-field manufacturing environments.

    • Construction Management of industrial buildings (FMCG/F&B).
      Main Responsibilities
    • Scope, Time, Cost, Risk, Quality and Procurement Management.
    • In charge of the construction management team during the execution phase.
    • Chair regular coordination of technical meetings with the design & engineering team and also the contractors and other involved parties.
    • Prepare construction schedules, and closely monitor the progress achieved. Interface management (Civil/MEP/Equipment) is considered as an important responsibility of the Construction Manager.
    • Inspection and review of all (shop) drawings.
    • Review, monitor and advise the client on variation orders by contractors and do the appropriate technical and financial negotiations on behalf of the client.

    Electrical Engineer

    Job Description

    • Responsible for the coordination, implementation, execution and completion of Electrical Design & Engineering Work.
    • Closely monitor and supervise the Contractors/ Subcontractors to ensure proper installation and commissioning of all Electrical Installations during the construction phase

    Main Responsibilities

    • Develop narrative specifications (Program of Requirements) that defines the technical requirements to be adopted on all Electrical work. The latter in close collaboration with the Client, Architect and the Project Manager.
    • Extensive experience with Design & Engineering of: power (low, medium and high Voltage), uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems, diesel generators, lighting systems, ICT, Security installations, Fire Detection and Alarms, manufacturing equipment’s.
    • Extensive experience with Industrial projects (production plants FMCG/F&B) and related facilities.
    • Experience in projects for Multinational Clients is preferred.
    • Technical Program of Requirements for Electrical services.
    • Design & Engineering of all applicable phases.
    • Interface management with other disciplines and parties (i.e. Consultants, Vendors, Subcontractors, Equipment Suppliers, etc.)
    • Continually monitors performance of all assigned Electrical engineers and personnel.
    • Ensures quality control procedures are being followed and maintained.
    • Controls Electrical Contractors costs and variations.
    • Supervises the execution of Electrical works during construction incl. HSE (safe way of working).
    • Provides technical advice and assistance to Contractors staff as requested.

    Minimum qualifications, skills and experience

    • 10-15 years practical experience
    • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering.
    • COREN registered and/or any other relevant certification.
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Project, Word, Excel, AUTOCAD, and all related software’s for Electrical design & engineering works.

    Civil/Structural Engineer

    Job Description

    • Responsible for civil and structural design and engineering.
    • Develop narrative specifications (Program of Requirements) that defines the technical requirements to be adopted. This in close collaboration with the Client, Architect and the Project Manager.
    • Extensive experience in engineering with concrete (in situ/prefab) and steel structures.

    • Carry out civil/structural (concrete and steel) design & engineering including drafting and detailing.
    • Develop structural design calculation reports.
    • Liaise with geotechnical engineers to investigate ground conditions and assessment of results (soil samples and in-situ tests).
    • Undertake structural and technical studies including site investigations.
    • Compile project specifications and supervising tendering procedures.
    • Prepare weekly and monthly status/progress report.
    • Prepare technical proposals.
