    Communication Assistant

    Sectors of Research Interest: Health, WASH, Food Security and Nutrition, Education, Peace and Reconciliation, financial Inclusion and Consumer Protection and Humanitarian efforts.

    Location: Abuja

    • Assist with the revision and implementation of R-DATS communication plans and strategies.
    • Support the development of R-DATS activity reports which may include graphics designs and analytics.
    • Create promotional and communication materials which involve brainstorming ideas.
    • Develop content for R-DATS social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms as directed) and strategies to increase followership and engagement.
    • Respond to direct messages/comments on social media and monitor feed for relevant content development.
    • Develop simple graphics for social media using info graphics tools.
    • General communications and administrative support.


    • HND or BSc in Mass Communication, English Language, Marketing, Computer Science, Data Science, or any other relevant discipline
    • A self-starter who needs minimal supervision and must have strong analytical skills
    • Conversant with the use of Microsoft Office Packages
    • Conversant with diverse social media platforms
    • Content Writing and graphic Design (Desirable)
    • Team player, Self-Motivated and Strong Customer-Service skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Excellent formatting and editing skills (Desirable)
    • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to multitask and work independently

    Other Requirements:

    • 2021 ‘Batch C’ Corps Members currently in NYSC orientation camp are strongly encouraged to apply for NYSC slot. Applicants must have been deployed to Abuja or have plans to redeploy to Abuja.
    • Prior communication or administrative related internship experience is an added advantage.

    Research and Data Assistants (1 NYSC and 1 Intern)

    Duration for Internship applicant (BSC or MSc graduate Intern): 3 months

    Duration for NYSC member: Covers entire service year period

    Support the Implementation of R-DATS Research, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (RMEL) Activities as follows:

    This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain extensive hands‐on experience in research, survey and data management, Key areas of involvement will include: supporting design of survey questionnaires, training and managing survey teams, ensuring high quality data collection, and cleaning and analyzing survey data.

    The Research and Data Intern and Corps Member will be expected to carry out the following activities:

    • Assist in conducting research activities (e.g. baseline, impact evaluation, mid-term reviews). These may include to:
      • Assist with drafting data collection tools
      • Support data collection, entry, validation, and cleaning activities
      • Support training and supervision of data collection process
      • Assist monitoring pilot studies and surveys. Track, maintain and provide field activity updates to your supervisor.
      •  Provide support in ensuring that all data quality protocols are followed during data collection and cleaning to ensure the data is of the highest quality.
      • Assist in identifying bottlenecks in completing project activities and developing plans to minimize or eliminate such bottlenecks.
      • Data collation, basic analysis, visualizations, reporting and dissemination.
    • Work with R-DATS team to develop reports, collate, and disseminate success stories and lessons learnt.
    • Support in planning on-going day-to-day research activity within the framework of ongoing projects implementation plans.
    •  Any other duties as assigned by supervisor


    • A BSc or MSc degree in social sciences, statistics, public health, public policy, Evaluation, international development, or related fields for internship applicants. HND or BSc degree in relevant fields for the NYSC slot.
    • The 3-month internship applicants must be resident in Abuja or have a place to stay in Abuja upon relocation.
    • 2021 ‘Batch C’ Corps Members currently in NYSC orientation camp are strongly encouraged to apply for NYSC slot. Applicants must have been deployed to Abuja or have plans to redeploy to Abuja.
    • Minimal experience in conducting/participating in research, data analysis, data visualizations, monitoring and evaluation of programmes in Nigeria.
    • Attention to detail, with a quality-focused mindset.
    • Cultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse constituencies.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
    • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and enlist support, when needed.
    • Capacity to use Microsoft office suites required
    • Strong quantitative skills and familiarity with data programming, data visualization and statistical software such as Stata, SPSS, R, Tableau, Power BI ODK or SurveyCTO (preferred).
    • Familiarity with qualitative research process, an added advantage.
    • Familiarity with large secondary data such as MICS, DHS, NARHS, or sources, an added advantage
