JOB PURPOSE
The MEAL Officer is responsible to ensure timely implementation of MEAL activities and to strengthen CFRM support across Gusau, Anka, and Maru LGAs in Zamfara State.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in planning and undertaking surveys, rapid assessments, as well as in the monitoring and evaluation of the program activities especially in relation to WASH, NFIs, Shelter and Protection.
- Responsible for establishing and ensuring better data management systems for the core programs s/he assigned for and coordinates the proper and timely evaluation of project objectives/impact.
- Ensure all programs have accountability mechanisms and works with project staff to make sure its implementation.
- Conduct regular data verification exercises to ensure reporting and collection of quality data.
- Participate in monitoring of all project activities, expenditures, and progress towards achieving the project output and outcomes.
- Participate in development and strengthening monitoring and impact indicator for the project success.
- Provide feedback to the Program Managers on project activities.
- Organize training for front-line and program staff regarding monitoring tools.
- Coordinate the field level community participatory monitoring and evaluation, reflective practice and impact measurement.
- Assist the project personnel with MEAL tools and in supporting them in their use.
- Identify and analyse data requirements for program monitoring and evaluation.
- Develop a comprehensive data management plan.
- Design a robust Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Framework in adherence to donor regulations.
- Create efficient and context-specific data collection tools.
- Translate data collection tools as necessary to ensure accessibility and understanding.
- Develop eligibility criteria and scoring matrices for assessments.
- Plan and execute internal baseline and endline assessments and surveys.
- Conduct training sessions to orient partners and the program team on the MEAL system and tools.
- Regularly review and follow up with partners and the INTERSOS team on data collection activities.
- Implement MEAL activities as outlined in the MEAL Framework.
- Report figures continuously on relevant channels as per reporting requirements.
- Produce analyses of MEAL activities and prepare narrative reports.
- Maintain and update the Reporting Workbench (RWB) Information Tracking Tool (ITT).
- Ensure proper archiving all data and tools in Google Drive folders.
- Provide MEAL inputs to final project reports.
- Conduct After-Action Review (AAR) before the project concludes.
- Generate a comprehensive learning report based on AAR findings.
- Perform other duties as delegated.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Professional Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Information management, Social Science, Demography, Social studies or any related field.
- 3-5 years previous experience in similar position.
- Desirable knowledge of monitoring and evaluation, Nutrition, protection, WaSH and Health projects in the humanitarian context.
- English and Hausa.
- Strong analytical skills for data analysis and interpretation.
- Time management skills and resourcefulness with attention to details

To supervise the smooth running of SRH activities, including supervision of BEmONC activities, in order to ensure 24/7 efficient, effective and quality care delivering to all patients/clients admitted into INTERSOS SRH program, in collaboration with the Clinic supervisor, Doctors and MOH by respecting and adhering to INTERSOS and MOH SRH protocols & guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare monthly rosters for midwives and other SRH supporting staff.
- To supervise and coordinate the work of the midwives involved in the activity with close consultation of her line supervisor.
- Participates on job trainings of all midwives and SRH related staff
- Defines the training needs of the midwife and SRH related staff according to project objectives and potential.
- Assign responsibilities to the staff under her supervision and actively involve in ward rounds, deliveries, ANCs, PNC.
- Responsible for hygiene and universal precautions in health facilities according to protocols and in cooperation with logistics department and your line manager, Knows and implements accidental exposure policy.
- Supervises all minor surgical procedures, dressing, sterilization and injection services related to delivery, ANC, PNC patients in the health facilities.
- Ensures that basic delivery plans are adhered to by the SRH Unit and that prescriptions and protocols are respected.
- Ensures that all pregnant women and new born children are referred to the Extended Program on Immunization (EPI). Consider making this post primary responsible for all EPI.
- Supervises daily routine activities in the delivery ward, ANC, PNC and support her team members when there is gap.

- Trains and supervises maternity staff regarding the proper use of drugs, needs and consumptions.
- Supervises and ensures that counselling services are done appropriately following protocols.
- Works in collaboration with the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) for all IEC activities.
- Ensure that transmission by HIV or other STIs is avoided with the help of Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) and the use of condoms while trying to respect local traditions.
- Knows SGBV protocol and ensure that it is implemented.
- Identifies possible victims of SGBV and refers them for treatment according to protocols.
- Participates in emergency activity or exploratory visit in or out of the project area if needed.
- Ensures that recording in individual patient’s card and registration books of all nursing activities are performed correctly.
- Ensures that all data management tools are used and are updated properly.
- Ensure that inventories of all material and equipment used exist and are updated.
- Ensure cleanliness of midwife areas, maternity and delivery rooms.

- Participate in meetings in health facility with INTERSOS & MOH staff and collaborators.
- Participates in the monthly reports according to guidelines, i.e. Situation Reports (SitReps), medical statistical reports, etc.
- Informs other medical managers or doctors about any possible serious problem or complications regarding INTERSOS SRH patients.

Professional Requirements:

The Protection Data Management Officer will work closely with the MEAL department and be responsible for gathering and analysing data generated through protection interventions to enhance consistent, accurate reporting and develop evidence-based information to inform program development and adaptation. The position will play a crucial role in supporting INTERSOS to enhance analysis and reporting on the quality and impact of protection activities and contextual protection needs and gaps as well as improve the quality and scope of trend analysis and response planning. The position will also be responsible for reviewing data collection practices and mechanisms and will advise the coordination team on data management and data protection.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for regular protection analysis at field level of data gathered across projects and interventions to support holistic and comparative monitoring and evidence gathering on the implementation and impact of activities.

Education Qualification:

- Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience in the implementation of humanitarian protection activities within an international NGO

- Demonstrated superior knowledge of software analytics, information management and data visualization tools including KOBO/Power BI and Google Data Studio

The Protection Assistant plays a vital role in integrating protection principles into health and nutrition programs to ensure the safety, dignity, and rights of vulnerable populations. He/she will support the identification and mitigation of protection risks, promote awareness of GBV/PSEA, and facilitate access to appropriate care and support for survivors. His/her work will involves assessing risks at service delivery points, coordinating with protection and health teams, and ensuring that protection standards are upheld throughout project activities to create a safe and protective environment for all beneficiaries.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the mainstreaming of protection principles across project activities to ensure safety, dignity, and rights of all individuals, regardless of age, gender, disability, or displacement status.
- Integrate Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness into Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) sessions.
- Inform caregivers about the consequences of GBV/PSEA, available reporting channels, and refer those with concerns to the protection team for support.
- Conduct assessments of nutrition facilities to identify GBV risks and collaborate with the protection sector to address identified issues.
- Promote GBV risk mitigation at nutrition sites by ensuring accessibility, physical safety, confidentiality, and effective referral mechanisms.
- Ensure protection principles are upheld throughout the project cycle, fostering a safe environment for beneficiaries.
- Provide care and support for GBV survivors, including coordination with health teams for comprehensive case management using UNFPA-provided post-rape kits.
- Support survivors by facilitating access to medical and psychosocial services, including pregnancy prevention, STI treatment, HIV/AIDS prevention, injury management, and psychosocial support.
- Coordinate with SRH and protection teams to ensure timely and holistic support for survivors.
- Assist in integrating protection activities within health and nutrition services, including community outreach and awareness campaigns on reporting mechanisms.
