Duties and Responsibilities

• Setting up the arc welding machine, this includes aligning and adjusting the machine.
• Using the machine to weld materials together, as specified by blueprints, layouts, welding procedures, and operating charts.
• Selecting the correct voltage and power of the machine.
• Visually examining welds for adherence to specifications.
• Adjusting machine set up according to vary size, location and penetration of bead.
• Rewelding defective joints, using hand-welding equipment.
• Preheating surfaces, using hand torch or heating furnaces.

Qualifications and Skills

• Candidates should possess an OND / SSCE / GCE / NECO qualification.
• 5 - 7 years experience as an Arc Welder.
• Physical fitness and stamina,an Arc Welder will need to lift heavy materials that need to be welded
• Proximity to Isolo is critical.
• Communication skills Arc Welder will need to carefully and clearly communicate with other welders
• Detail orientation, as Arc Welder will need to cut materials and weld them to the exact millimetre
• Dexterity,as Arc Welder will need good hand eye coordination to operate equipment
• Critical thinking, asArc Welder must be able to problem-solve when issues arise in a project

Responsibilities

• Selecting, measuring, cutting, and joining appropriate metals to specifications.
• Preparing metals and work surfaces to ensure safe and effective assemblage.
• Interpreting specifications and blueprints accurately.
• Training welding apprentices and mentoring recruits.
• Regularly cleaning and inspecting welding equipment and tools.
• Operating cranes and other machinery to transport materials to welding worksites.
• Determining correct gas ratios.
• Testing the strength of each join during and after project completion.
• Diagnosing issues and troubleshooting as required.
• Liaising with the line manager or supervisor, reporting any issues, and making suggestions for improvement.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or similar.
• A completed apprenticeship or vocational training.
• 5 - 7 years experience as a Welder
• Excellent stamina, strength, and dexterity.
• Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
• Sound understanding of welding safety.
• The ability to teach would be advantageous.
• A willingness to learn and work overtime when required.

Salary
N70,000 - N100,000 monthly.
