Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and build responsive web applications and cross-platform mobile apps
• Lead frontend technical decisions: architecture, state management, performance, and component design
• Translate complex financial workflows — FX quotes, transfers, KYC, transaction histories — into clear, trustworthy, intuitive interfaces
• Build and maintain a shared component library and consistent design system across web and mobile
• Integrate deeply with backend APIs and real-time payment flows
• Own performance, accessibility, and reliability of customer-facing surfaces
• Partner with design and product to shape the user experience, not just implement it

Requirements

• 5+ years of frontend engineering experience
• Strong, demonstrable expertise in Vue.js
• Strong, demonstrable expertise in React
• Production experience building and shipping mobile apps with React Native
• Deep understanding of state management, API integration, and responsive design
• Proven ability to turn complex flows into clean, usable UIs
• Strong sense of UX and attention to detail in user-facing products

Bonus points:

• Experience with fintech or transaction-heavy products
• Strong TypeScript skills and familiarity with modern tooling (Vite)
• Experience establishing design systems or component libraries

Description

• We need a strong backend developer to own and extend our core services.
• As a Senior Backend Engineer, he/she will be the core technical owner of the services that handle every transaction, from FX conversion to settlement, where correctness, security, and reliability are non-negotiable.

What you'll do

• Architect, build, and maintain backend services in NestJS (TypeScript) that power payments, FX, wallets, and settlement
• Design and implement robust transaction handling: webhooks, idempotency, retries, and reconciliation across multiple payment providers
• Own the integration of local and international payment rails and FX liquidity providers
• Contribute to and safeguard the money-movement logic
• Make and document key architectural decisions; set standards the rest of the team builds on
• Embed security and regulatory compliance into the design of every financial feature
• Collaborate closely with product and compliance to translate requirements into resilient systems.

What we're looking for

• Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor`s Degree
• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with significant production NestJS (or strong Node.js/TypeScript) work
• Demonstrable experience building fintech or payments systems at scale
• Hands-on experience with cross-border / FX payment flows (strongly preferred)
• Deep understanding of idempotency, eventual consistency, and reconciliation in financial systems
• Strong command of PostgreSQL, including data modeling for money
• Track record of clean, testable, well-architected service design
• Experience operating in environments where data security and compliance matter.

Bonus points:

• Integrations with Stripe, Paystack, Squad, Wise, or similar providers
• Experience with regulated financial environments and audit requirements
• Scaling background systems and leading technical initiatives.
