    Senior Frontend Engineer

    About the role:

    • We are looking for a Front-End engineer who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming.
    • Responsibilities will include translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application.
    • You will work with the UI/UX designer and bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop new user-facing features.
    • Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
    • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
    • Optimise application for maximum speed and scalability.
    • Assure that all user input is validated before submitting to the back-end.
    • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
    • Troubleshoot and debug applications.
    • Conduct UI tests and optimize performance.
    • Build high-quality reusable code that can be used in the future.
    • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of designers, developers, and system administrators.
    • Be involved and participate in the overall application lifecycle.
    • You will participate in peer code review and provide constructive feedback to other team members so to ensure our delivery reflects your quality standard.
    • Architect efficient and reusable front-end systems that drive complex web applications.
    • Collaborate with Product Designers, Product Managers, and Software Engineers to deliver compelling user-facing products

    Requirements:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an engineer.
    • Experienced in coding in React.
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer programming, computer science, or a related field.
    • Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3.
    • Understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS.
    • Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including Jquery.
    • Proficient knowledge of JavaScript.
    • Good understanding of ReactJS and Redux.
    • Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX.
    • Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image.
    • Familiarity with tools such as Gimp or Photoshop is a plus.
    • Strong knowledge of the African payments and logistics ecosystem.
    • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
    • Familiarity with browser testing and debugging.
    • In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development, and deployment).
    • Good understanding of Git.

    Software Engineer (Backend)

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborating with the Frontend Engineers and other team members to establish objectives and design more functional, cohesive codes to enhance the user experience.
    • Developing ideas for new programs, products, or features by monitoring industry developments and trends.
    • Be involved and participate in the overall application lifecycle.
    • Define and communicate technical and design requirements.
    • Provide training, help and support to other team members.
    • Build high-quality reusable code that can be used in the future.
    • Build and scale our product with input from other team members.
    • Develop functional and sustainable web applications with clean code.
    • Troubleshoot and debug applications.
    • Manage cutting-edge technologies to improve applications.
    • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of designers and engineers.

    Requirements

    • Minimum 7 years of experience as a backend engineer, ideally in a Fintech startup environment 
    • Fluent application of Java (JDK version), Spring boot, Eureka, Zuul.
    • Familiarity with Github, Hibernate, Apache Kafka, Postgresql.
    • Knowledge of Design Patterns 
    • Strong understanding of the web development cycle and programming techniques and tools.
    • Focus on efficiency, user experience and process improvement.
    • Excellent project and time management skills.
    • Strong problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently or with a group.
    • Ability to move fast and adapt as the business requires.
    • Strong knowledge of the African and/or Global payments and logistics ecosystem would be an advantage.
    • Previous experience with functional programming would be an advantage

    Software Engineer (Mobile)

    About the role

    • As a Mobile Engineer at Klasha, you'll be joining a high-performing team that is the bedrock of our offering. This role would suit a resourceful, high-performance IC with experience in greenfield projects.  
    • We're a Seed-stage startup, so ideally you'd be comfortable wearing multiple hats. We're learning quickly, shipping regularly, and working cross-functionally to build the future of commerce in Africa. You'll join a mission-led team that cares deeply about connecting Africa with the global economy. 
    • You'll be working with our candid and collaborative team, where your knowledge and advice about application architecture and the newest mobile technologies will be highly appreciated.
    • The code you write will need to be cleanly organized and of the highest quality. You’ll also help ensure solid application performance and an excellent user experience.

    Responsibilities

    • Developing new features and user interfaces from wireframe models. 
    • Cooperating with back-end developers, designers, and the rest of the team to deliver well-architected and high-quality solutions.
    • Writing clean, readable, and testable code.
    • Fixing bugs and performance problems.
    • Ensuring the best performance and user experience of the application.
    • Developing and building an app for use by Klasha as discussed with our lead developer.

    Requirements

    • Have two or more iOS/Android apps developed with Flutter. 
    • Familiarity with Dart and Firebase.
    • 7+ years in mobile software development.
    • Experience with third-party libraries and APIs.
    • Understanding of the Agile development life-cycle.
    • Experience with automated testing and building.
    • Experience with Git, Jenkins, or other version control tools.
    • Ability to write readable code, create extensive documentation for existing code, and refactor the previously written code into readable state.

    Key Competencies

    • Good understanding of Git. 
    • Understanding of Computer Science.
    • Understanding of software development life cycle.
    • Strong knowledge of different architecture approaches.
    • Experience with GoF patterns.
    • Knowledge of SQL.

    Content Marketing Associate

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive content marketing strategy that aligns with our business goals and target audience
    • Create engaging and informative content across various channels, including blog posts, social media, email campaigns, and more
    • Collaborate with our product and design teams to create visual and interactive content that supports our marketing efforts
    • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices to ensure our content is always fresh and relevant
    • Measure and report on the success of our content marketing efforts, using data to inform ongoing strategy and tactics
    • A/B test copy to ascertain fit and gather insights to steer future content 

    Key Competencies / Qualifications:

    • At least 2 years of experience in the fintech or wider technology ecosystem
    • Strong writing and editing skills, with a proven track record of creating engaging copy
    • Experience developing and executing content marketing strategies
    • A keen eye for detail, you're able to identify copy that should be altered autonomously 
    • An understanding of how to captivate local audiences 
    • Strong knowledge of the fintech industry and trends
