Summary

• The Senior GIS Developer provides dedicated support to the eHealth Africa’s (eHA) GIS application development projects.
• S/he develops eHA’s Web GIS environment and builds web and mobile apps to support targeted workflows, projects and programs being supported by the GIS Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• To perform this job successfully, the Senior GIS Developer will work under the supervision of the GIS Department Manager to perform the following responsibilities.
• Develop desktop, mobile and web GIS applications to support internal and external projects at eHealth Africa Support the development of web services and data portals at eHealth Africa
• Liaise with internal and external clients to perform proper requirement gathering
• Collaborate with eHealth Africa’s Software development team to ensure adequate support for all GIS development needs
• Contribute to the development of OpenSource GIS applications, tools and capabilities at eHealth Africa
• Maintain a collegial, collaborative and accessible working style
• Perform any other duties assigned by management
• May frequently travel between company worksites
• Ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• May frequently travel between company work-sites. Some international travel may be required.

Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to successfully perform this job

Education/Experience:

• Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, Surveying and Geoinformatics, Geography or other related field
• Minimum of 4 years GIS development / software engineering experience
• Significant and advanced GIS and Software development experience may substitute for the Master’s degree Experience in Javascript and JavaScript libraries - AngularJS, LeafletJS
•  Experience in developing web and mobile GIS applications using open source GIS solutions e.g. PostgreSQL, Geoserver, MapServer, OpenLayers
• Working knowledge of developing restful web services and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
• Experience working in a team environment with github (creating branches, merging branches, cherry picking commits, reverting commits, stashing, squash merging, tagging, etc.)
• Familiarity with test driven development
• Familiarity with best practices in coding and design including enterprise patterns.
• Cultural sensitivity, sound judgment, and strong interest in working in a demanding and intellectually challenging environment, with the organizational ability to handle multiple tasks around ambitious deadlines
• International work experience is a plus
• Ability to identify and promote best practices
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills and great attention to detail. Ability to work in collaboration with others on a project team and independently on tasks
• Must be able to work as a leader and member of a team and possess good problem solving skills

Technical Skills:

• Working knowledge of open Source GIS stack (QGIS, PostGIS and Geoserver), data transformation tools (FME Desktop and/or Kettle) and Commercial GIS stack (ArcInfo, ArcView, ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox), ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server
• Solid knowledge of Javascript and related javascript libraries and framework
• Strong programming skills using Python
• Working knowledge of carto visualization platform
• Ability to use Source Code Versioning Systems (Git is desired)
• Working knowledge of Agile development tools (JIRA)

Summary

• The Senior Staff Accountant performs daily accounting, finance, and treasury activities as well as additional analysis responsibilities that may include support of the management team in a variety of operational decisions that have a financial impact.
• S/he engages in financial analysis in such areas as forecasting, budgeting, engaging in cost reduction analysis, and reviewing operational performance.
• The Staff Accountant will report to the Finance Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
• Enters and maintains the organization’s on-site daily accounting records. Manages any outsourced finance and accounting functions.
• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures in conjunction with country offices and assures documentation is always up to date. Maintains close working relationship with the Finance & Accounting offices in all eHA country offices.
• Ensures proposed expenditures are within budget and the appropriate documentation trail is in place. Ensures appropriate approvals are in place prior to spending, If expenditures are out of the approved annual budgets.
• Processes/reconciles the upload of financial statements in accounting reporting system. Prepares monthly account reconciliations in support of the financial statements.
• Assists with the preparation and administration of the annual budget, financial audit, and preparation of tax return work papers as well as periodic operating forecasts.
• Provides supervision in the preparation of country budget in accordance with grants and contracts. Carefully track all fixed and variable expenses. Differentiate between funded and unfunded expenses to ensure proper calculation of eHA’s indirect cost rate.
• Performs variance analyses and provides reports to Management on expense variances from approved budgets.
• Engages in ongoing cost reduction analyses in all areas of the organization.
• Engages in benchmarking with other in-country F&A teams to establish areas of potential financial and/or operational improvements. Interprets the company's financial results to management and recommend improvement activities.
• Reviews company bottlenecks and recommend changes to improve the overall level of company throughput as it relates to the processing of accounts payable. Creates additional analysis and reports as requested by Management.
• Provides financial information to bank, insurance companies, and outside auditors, in a timely manner.
• Assists the Accounting Manager in the review and coordination of accounts payable processing.
• Performs any other duties assigned by Management.

Education/Experience

• Knowledge of and experience with financial systems software and Sage evolution ERP.
• A proven track record of achievement in the areas of finance and accounting as well as a master of spreadsheets. Must understand accounts payable, receivables and be able to work effectively and efficiently in the organizations accounting system. Must have a grasp of basic accounting terminology and have worked with budgets, forecasts and variance reporting.
• Good knowledge of financial management and accounting and budget holding principles. Excellent communication skills and an ability to work independently and comfortable coordinating multi-country staff.
• Organizational skills and great attention to detail. Must be able to work as a leader and member of a team and possess good problem solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, multi-task and work independently.
• Must have the ability to manage conflicts and resolve problems effectively.

Certifications and Licenses:
