    Proprietary Trader

    Job Summary

    • The position holder will be tasked with managing proprietary funds through active trading of equities and fixed income instruments to generate superior risk-adjusted returns . This role requires integrity, strong market intuition, disciplined execution, and in-depth knowledge of market dynamics, supported by data-driven decision-making

    Job Details

    Securities Trading

    • Identify high-probability trading opportunities and execute strategies including directional trades, arbitrage, mean reversion, and yield optimization.
    • Execute calculated positions in both Equities and Fixed Income instruments in line with the firm’s investment policies as regards the proprietary trading (prop) book
    • Generate and submit a daily P&L report and position breakdown to the Managing Director/Executive Director Investments
    • Manage open positions in real-time, ensuring alignment with portfolio limits and market developments.
    • Target a minimum annual return of 20% on the proprietary portfolio with consistent monthly/quarterly performance reviews.

    Collaboration & Reporting

    • Maintain regular and transparent communication with back-office teams including risk, compliance, operations, and financial control teams to ensure smooth trade execution, settlement, and reconciliation.
    • Actively contribute to weekly trading review sessions and strategic planning meetings.
    • Actively participate and report on activities in monthly investment risk committee meetings 
    • Deliver insightful market commentary and articulate the rationale behind executed trades to relevant stakeholders

    Market Intelligence and Research

    • Stay updated on news and macroeconomic trends, fiscal and monetary policy changes, regulatory updates, and company-specific news in the capital market
    • Collaborate with the research team to integrate market insights into trading strategies.
    • Communicate intelligence guiding positions clearly when required.
    • Continuously back-test and refine trading models and risk assumptions.

    Compliance

    • Adhere strictly to the investment policy document and internal risk controls e.g. position limits and stop loss provision.
    • Ensure compliance with SEC, NGX, FMDQ, and other regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor liquidity, credit, and counterparty risks and escalate any breaches immediately.

    Requirements

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field.
    • Authorised dealing clerk of the NGX
    • CFA or progress toward CFA Charter is an advantage.
    • Minimum 5 years of active trading experience in the Nigerian capital market (buy-side or sell-side).
    • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with trading platforms, technical analysis tools, and Bloomberg/Reuters terminals.
    • Deep understanding of NGX, FMDQ, CBN policies, and Nigerian market instruments.

    Head of Finance – Digital Banking

    Job Summary

    • Responsible for leading the Microfinance Bank’s finance function, delivery of financial management and financial operations reporting capabilities that allow the organization to achieve optimal business outcomes and regulatory compliance

    • Balance Sheet Management: Identify, recommend, and implement optimal balance sheet structure for ARM Microfinance Bank, in compliance with internal balance sheet ratios, and regulatory requirements, and monitor effectiveness of balance sheet management strategies.
    • Transactional Accounting: Designs and manages the organization’s chart of accounts, as well as frameworks, and guidelines, on accounting operations.
    • Financial Reporting: Interpret and translate financial statements and information to drive strategic and successful business decisions and growth. Communicates interpretations to organization’s board, and executive management to drive decision-making. Tax Management and compliance: Design and implement taxation framework, standards, and guidelines for the Bank, in line with current and projected statutory provisions on taxation, and ensures the organization is in complete adherence to best practices in tax management. Budgeting and Forecasting: Drive the Bank’s budgeting and forecasting efforts with the aim of providing the organization with a comprehensive financial plan for achieving its financial and operational goals. This role is also responsible for providing unique insights and advisory on market factors, industry trends, revenue and cost drivers that could impact budget performance
    • Cost Management: Lead cost management for the bank, through the deployment of waste elimination efforts, and the implementation of activity-based costing measures. Risk and Compliance Management: Ensures adherence of the bank to internal and regulatory provisions, ratios, accounting processes, records, and reporting standards for Microfinance Banks in Nigeria. .
    • Corporate Performance Management: Responsible for driving the implementation and continuous improvement of management information systems that allow for online, real-time monitoring and management of the organization’s performance Stakeholder Management: Builds valued relationships with stakeholders at the strategic level, and assembles coalitions, to support long term business development.
