Key Responsibilities

• Aligning general ledger accounting practices to support budgeting and forecasting.
• Entering financial data such as accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, and interdepartmental entries into the ledger on a monthly basis, as well as preparing reports.
• Collaborating with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information.
• Ensuring accuracy and all financial information complies with professional and regulatory standards.
• Reconciling accounts with the general ledger.
• Performing audits on financial data to assure its accuracy and truthfulness.
• Performing account analysis to ensure that journal entries and balances are correct.
• Keeping abreast of regulatory requirements and best practices in accounting.
• Support Monthly and Annual Close Processes
• Prepare Journal Entries
• Assist various departments in accounting issues and queries
• Analyze and perform foreign currency exchanges
• Support Auditor in conducting internal and external audits
• Assist in tax preparation and filing activities
• Gathering supporting documentation and performing recordkeeping.
• Any other job activity assigned by the Finance Manager.

Requirements, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Applicants must possess the following skills and abilities, which are important for achieving success on the job:

• Qualifications required are a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting-related discipline, or B.Eng. in Financial Accounting, or its equivalent.
• Minimum of 4 years post qualification experience in General Ledger and Financial Accounting
• Must possess effective communication, and writing skills to share accounting information when needed.
• Understanding of accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Previous knowledge of audit is an added advantage
• Strong analytical and effective problem-solving skills to identify and correct financial discrepancies
• Technical accounting skills and experience using accounting software
• Be an effective team player with ability to work under own initiative
• Strong computer skills especially MS Office Suites
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and be self-motivated
• Ability to multi-task: He/she must be able to complete several tasks together and meet up with deadlines
• Budgeting, bookkeeping and mathematical skills with minimal errors
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Duties

• Design distribution network layout professionally using Auto-cad and other software necessary
• Draft Standard Operating Procedure manual for power transmission and distribution network for the mini-grid projects
• Prepare Bill of Materials for distribution network as needed for mini-grid projects with detailed description of quality required for needed materials
• Design work plans, project timelines with tracker and triggers for transmission and distribution network.
• Supervise installation of distribution poles and stringing of cables at project sites, ensuring projects are delivered with good quality.
• Design proper monitoring template to ensure vendors deliver quality services
• Draft transmission maintenance procedure and activities manual to ensure the lines function optimally across minigrid sites. This manual must show predictive maintenance activities to be carried out across the minigrid sites, frequency of activities, a designed template for the maintenance to capture all checks and inspections carried out.
• Carry out maintenance on transmission/distribution lines in to ensure 99% uptime across the company’s grids.
• Train on-ground operators on light maintenance of transmission lines, associated HSEs procedures and test continuously to be sure they are capable to carry task out.
• Supervise installation of meters/breakers on minigrid sites
• Design maintenance activity for meters and service cables.
• Design meter tamper and by-pass policy with report template for operators.
• Train operators on implementation of meter bypass policy and resolution procedures.
• Train operators on service cables and meter maintenance, detection of bypass and resolution procedures.
• Maintenance of distribution transformers.
• Energy Management/Load balancing across the Transmission and Distribution network.
• Design and implementation of Anti - Energy theft systems and controls
• Attend to meter issues including resets and tampers.
• Prepare weekly and monthly report on transmission and meter network across all sites to be sent to your line manager and the MD
• Assist on ground operators in troubleshooting issues related to transmission, distribution and metering.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering / Distribution Network Engineering. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 - 7 years of professional experience Power Distribution System and Network Planning (required).
• Able to perform Electrical calculations.
• Knowledge of electrical design theory and concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as knowledge of industry regulations and standards.
• Proficiency in engineering software and the ability to work well in a team.
• Ability to independently perform power optimization studies using PVsyst to meet client requirements or propose feasible options for any given site.
