    Financial Analyst

    Job Summary

    • The Finance Analyst at CCDRN Head Office will analyze financial data, create financial models, and prepare financial forecasting and reporting to support decision-making.
    • S/hewill ensures accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory and statutory filings and provides financial management services for CCDRN operations and donor-funded projects.

    Primary Responsibilities
    Financial Analysis and Reporting:

    • Perform financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking.
    • Analyze financial data and create financial models to support decision-making.
    • Report on financial performance and prepare for regular leadership reviews.
    • Conduct variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements.
    • Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
    • Provide insights on trends and forecasts and recommend actions for optimization.

    Financial Management and Process Improvement:

    • Guide the cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures.
    • Identify and drive process improvements, including creating standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and Excel dashboards.
    • Develop automated reporting and forecasting tools to increase productivity.
    • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including preparing quarterly and annual financial statements.

    Accounting and Bookkeeping:

    • Provide accounting and bookkeeping services for CCDRN’s operations and donor-funded projects.
    • Ensure partner accounts are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
    • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and proper archiving of financial records.
    • Perform weekly account reconciliations and ensure proper financial documentation for the Senior Management Team (SMT).

    Compliance and Regulatory Filings:

    • Coordinate all regulatory and statutory filings to ensure financial regulations and legislation compliance.
    • Liaise with clients, auditors, and tax consultants to address financial matters.

    Risk Management and Financial Optimization:

    • Track CCDRN's financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement.
    • Seek methods for minimizing financial risk to CCDRN.
    • Research and analyze financial reports and market trends to provide insights for decision-making.

    Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

    • Present financial reports to SMT, stakeholders, and clients during formal meetings.
    • Provide senior executives with insights and expectations to aid in long-term and short-term decision-making.

    Policies and Procedures:

    • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for CCDRN.
    • Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software for financial purposes.
    • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and legislation.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Perform any other duties commensurate with the position as assigned by management.

    Requirements
    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of Second Class) in Accounting, Banking, Finance, or related fields.
    • Previous work experience in a similar role, preferably in financial reporting for non-profit organizations.
    • Extensive understanding of financial trends within the organization and in general market patterns.

    Technical Skills:

    • Proficient in Excel, QuickBooks, and other financial software.
    • Strong understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles.
    • Knowledge of data privacy standards and financial regulations.

    Competencies and Abilities:

    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
    • Proven ability to manage, guide, and lead employees to ensure proper financial processes.
    • Excellent problem-solving, independent thinking, and decision-making skills.
    • Strong organizational and management skills, with the ability to plan, schedule, and meet deliverables on time.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Willingness to travel to any part of the country, especially the Northeast region of Nigeria.

    Irrigation Engineer

    Job Summary

    • The irrigation engineer will support the design, implementation, and management of irrigation systems to support CCDRN's agricultural and water management projects.
    • The role involves conducting technical assessments, preparing project designs, supervising installations, and providing technical support to ensure efficient and sustainable use of water resources.
    • The Irrigation Engineer will also collaborate with stakeholders to achieve project objectives while ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.

    Primary Responsibilities
    Irrigation System Design and Implementation:

    • Conduct field assessments to evaluate soil, crop, and water conditions.
    • Design efficient irrigation systems based on project requirements, including drip, sprinkler, and surface irrigation systems.
    • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for irrigation projects.
    • Supervise irrigation system installation, testing, and commissioning to ensure proper functionality.
    • Develop and implement strategies for water conservation and efficient usage.

    Technical Support and Capacity Building:

    • Provide technical guidance and training to farmers, field staff, and stakeholders on the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems.
    • Conduct workshops and capacity-building sessions on water resource management and irrigation best practices.
    • Develop user manuals and guidelines for irrigation systems and equipment.

    Project Management and Monitoring:

    • Plan, schedule, and oversee the execution of irrigation-related projects.
    • Monitor the performance of installed irrigation systems and recommend improvements.
    • Ensure timely completion of projects within budget and scope.
    • Prepare detailed project progress reports for submission to senior management and donors.

    Environmental and Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure irrigation projects comply with environmental standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct environmental impact assessments and develop mitigation strategies for irrigation projects.
    • Promote sustainable water management practices to minimize environmental degradation.

    Research and Development:

    • Conduct research on innovative irrigation technologies and practices.
    • Evaluate and recommend modern irrigation techniques to enhance project outcomes.
    • Stay updated on advancements in irrigation engineering and water resource management.

    Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination:

    • Collaborate with donors, government agencies, and local communities to ensure alignment with project goals.
    • Act as a technical field liaison between CCDRN and external partners on irrigation-related matters.
    • Participate in stakeholder meetings and represent CCDRN in technical discussions.

    Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

    • Develop and implement maintenance schedules for irrigation systems to ensure longevity.
    • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to irrigation equipment and systems.
    • Ensure availability of spare parts and tools for system repairs.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Perform any other duties commensurate with the position as assigned by management.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in irrigation system design and implementation.
    • Proven experience in managing agricultural water projects, particularly in rural or semi-arid areas.
    • Familiarity with non-profit or donor-funded project environments is an added advantage.

    Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in irrigation system design software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS).
    • Strong knowledge of irrigation technologies, including drip, sprinkler, and surface irrigation systems.
    • Understanding of soil science, hydrology, and water resource management.
    • Experience in conducting environmental impact assessments.
    • Competence in data analysis and technical report writing.
